@DoubleAA If your friend has the notes on the other 9 that he spoke about, I would like to read it. Only if it is easily available, of course.

@IsaacMoses Yom Nikanor is a holiday in Megillat Taanit on 13 Adar. The strange part is I would have guessed that anyone who knew about Yom Nikanor would know how the Talmud concludes that Megillat Taanit is batel. The more interesting question IMO is did they say hallel on that day during the times of the Mikdash. — Double AA ♦ Feb 22 '13 at 15:44
That question keeps popping up. What do people think of my editing it to what I describe therein as the more interesting question? As currently phrased the basic answer is judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/26542/… even if people haven't really found any explicit reference to that -- it's just not something that's ever discussed in the literature.

@DoubleAA I think it is just a separate question. Did they say it (was there a Takkana to say it, however you want to phrase it) is different than (and a prerequisite to) could you say it today. Perhaps this question could be turned into a two part question. Was it said? Could we say it now when it isn't Ta'anit Ester?

@Yishai I agree it's really a different question. I just think the good of the community is better served by having the more interesting and more answerable-with-explicit-sources question out there. The two part version you propose is reasonable at achieving that goal, imo.
