A: Is wearing masks on Purim a Biblical Commandment or a Rabbinic Commandment?

Isaac MosesIt's Rabbinic, based on an issue of mar'it ha'ayin. See Talmud Boggly, Tractate Kesutin 11j: The disciples of the Yeshiva of Pumpernickta were studying the laws of Holy Books. R' Dapa opened with the law: A Holy book may not be brought into the room of necessities. R' Chakma responded: b...

@msh210, I hope this isn't excessively vulgar. At least I used euphemisms.

I can't seem to print the Purim publication on A4 paper. It keeps cutting off the left edge.
I wanted to find the original Word doc and rearrange it, but i only found this, which doesn't seem to be the final version.
@IsaacMoses
... oh. it's supposed to be printed 2 on a page, isn't it.
oh wait, no, it isn't the final version

@IsaacMoses nicely done! "necessities were indeed necessary" -- nice. :-)
@Isaac btw, tried to walk the "daf bit" line on Purim; here's the result: cellio.livejournal.com/1013743.html (Not actually today's daf, because I wasn't able to find anything there to be suitably PTesque about.)

@MonicaCellio Nice! :^)

I'm excited for this

7:03 PM
@IsaacMoses thanks. :-)
@Scimonster cool. I didn't manage to watch it last night. Wine that's older than me is probably pretty hard to come by. I might have some mead that's about as old as you, but that's not the same. (I had one really fantastic batch of homebrew that gets better as it ages, and I've been saving the last few bottles for special occasions.)

@NoviceSEMetaGeek, it's always dangerous to estimate shipping dates, but managing expectations can't hurt: There is some unrelated back-end design work on other sites that needs to happen first, plus we're cranking through changes based on the suggestions here, so I think we're hoping for something like 4 weeks until we can push it network wide. A little faster than that is possible, and a lot longer is always a risk, but we're hoping to come in a little under a month. — Jaydles ♦ Feb 24 at 19:44

@IsaacMoses I printed out Purim Mi Yodeya -- everyone enjoyed the PTIJ section, especially @msh210's "mishloach minus" question/answer :)

@Shokhet Nice! I tried to, but it kept getting cut off on the left side. No idea why.

@Scimonster Hm. Using regular size paper?

@Shokhet A4, not letter.

@Scimonster Also, this is hilarious :) thanks for posting it :D

9:56 PM
@Scimonster Ask @IsaacMoses if he still has the .doc version of it

I wanted to find the original Word doc and rearrange it, but i only found this, which doesn't seem to be the final version.

@Scimonster Great minds do something or other; right? ;-)

@IsaacMoses This is very very funny :D ....I particularly enjoyed #4
A medrash, brought down by the Artscroll Youth Megillah, says that Esther had 7 maidservants, to keep track of the days of the week incognito...I always assumed that these were they, but I don't have a source on-hand that makes the connection explicitly. — Shokhet 5 secs ago
^^^ enough for an answer?

@Shokhet Hey, i'm busy writing that out!

10:01 PM
@Scimonster Aight then; go for it :)
Was the original owner not meyayesh? ....my understanding of that case was that he just straight up forgot about it after he lost it. — Shokhet 5 secs ago

Posted. And the 7 maidservants aren't just a midrash -- they're explicitly mentioned.
Perfect 8k right now.

@Scimonster Nice!
@Scimonster but not the fact that they alternated by day of the week

@Shokhet Right. Your comment implied that their entire existence was midrash.

@Scimonster I see where you got that impression; bad wording on my part.
A freilichen!
