@MonicaCellio I wonder how effective it will be.

@TRiG "I bet they were getting inundated with "advice" questions and finally put this disclaimer up there with helpful links." Nope. A notice like that (I think the wording was a little different) was part of the 1.0 site and was pre-emptive not reactive. When Mi Yodeya moved onto SE 2.0 the site lost the ability to have the notice. We were happy that it became available recently.

Note that general advice questions aren't off topic on J.SE. That notice is meant to head-off questions asking for personalized, professional advice such as Jewish legal rulings about what a person should do according to halakha in a given specific scenario. Q: Professional advice disclaimer (post-launch re-request)

Isaac MosesFollow-up to CYLOR Disclaimer Now that Mi Yodeya has launched, I'd like to renew the request for a more-pervasive placement of our "professional advice" disclaimer. Shog9To the extent that these disclaimers have any value, I believe it is to the folks writing for these sites - answering questions - more than those reading. Indeed, this was the motivating factor on Health, and to a lesser extent Law as well: having the disclaimer on every page removes a lot of the...

I guess I'm a bit amazed at the incredible amount of rules Jews have to follow
and may I ask, why? What does following all the rules do.

@LCIII While for any given rule we may know and/or theorize about all/some/none of its reasons and know and/or theorize about all/some/none of its rewards, in the end of the day we're supposed to follow them because we believe that's what God wants us to do.
