When doing long distance shidduchim is it a bad idea or immodest to ask the girl to pick you up at the airport?

@TheOne I guess it depends entirely on local communal standards, the man's personality, the woman's personality, the state of their relationship, and other particulars.

@IsaacMoses, What about if the guy is out of town and the girl has a car. Is it silly for the guy to get a cab (or rent a car) for the dates?

@TheOne I mean, it sure sounds silly to me, but I move in circles in which male dominance over the steering wheel is not a religious value.

@TheOne I don't know either. In your situation I might be tempted to ask: "My plane gets in at 3:00. What would be the best way for me to get to (wherever you're meeting)?" That gives her the option to say "I'll give you a ride" if she wants, or direct you to public transit or a taxi otherwise.

@MonicaCellio, I like that. But I already tried the line, "when would you like to meet?"

@IsaacMoses On reading the question, I thought not of male dominance over the steering wheel and certainly not of religious values but of imposition in asking a near-stranger (and perhaps lack of gallantry in asking a woman) to do manual labor for you. Depending on how nearly she's a stranger, of course. cc @TheOne
