@Mike Note though that those Mezuzot are often only there Lechumra (as a synagogue without an attached parsonage is likely exempt from the obligation) and hence may not be effective against vampires. — Double AA ♦ 12 secs ago
Taking things one step too far?

@DoubleAA Yes: Mike said demons, not vampires. Nor werewolves. And the avos kept the whole Tora, so surely Binyamin had a m'zuza on his door.

"refers only to" statements of this form are generally taken as hyperbole. They don't mean that this is the only meaning of the given phrase. — Isaac Moses 16 secs ago

Q: Requiring sources for "tacit culture" and "common knowledge"

Noach mi FrankfurtI have occasionally run into an issue where I am writing either a question or (more rarely) an answer and I haven't had any decent sources on hand, because I had viewed the elements of the question as being reliant on common knowledge or tacit culture.* Should such concepts necessitate sourcing ...

All, I would appreciate upticks on my most recent comment on the Yesha question so it is seen. Pinging @IsaacMoses @Scimonster who are listed as being in the room and who have commented on that question already.

@msh210 Done. BTW, is "Yesha" a preferred term still, now that all Jews have been expelled from the "'a" part?

@IsaacMoses I think so. Some people do use Yosh, but at least on Arutz Sheva news (the one i usually read) they write Yesha.

@Scimonster I guess the term has outgrown its initialized origins.

@IsaacMoses And there's always the hope that we'll return to the "a" part.

@IsaacMoses Thanks. And I don't know -- or didn't until I read @Scimonster's reply just above. But old habits die hard.

I just saw the Yesha question....that's a lot of comments. Does that question need to "get a room"?

@Shokhet I am hopeful that the OP will edit to his/her liking, at which point many of the comments will be obsolete and I'll be glad to delete them. Until that happens, I see no harm in the existing comments' remaining there.

@msh210 Fair. It just seemed like a lot of comments; it was a bit difficult to read all of them/figure out what was going on with that question. IIRC I skipped it in a review (close? reopen?) because I couldn't figure out what was going on...
