If "Ram" means high or exalted, does "Rami" mean my exalted?
רמי‎

@TheOne Context? It could be a nickname for "Rachamim."

rami bar pappa, rami bar hamma
not a nickname, but a full name

@TheOne So maybe it's just a name.

I asked a rav who deals with gittin and names and he said that it is not a contraction.
Right, what is the meaning of this name?

@TheOne We can't necessarily trace the meaning of all names, and not all names' meanings are necessarily based in Judaism. But you could certainly mi.yodeya.com/questions/ask

It's not going to get closed?
I don't think the moderators like questions about names and the like.

@TheOne It's up to the community, not the moderators.

The moderators are the ones usually involved

@TheOne They're fine if they're about Judaism. So your question should be along the lines of "Does this name have a meaning based in Judaism? If so, what?
@TheOne They implement the policies set by the community
@TheOne ... and more frequently than you may notice, closures and reopenings are done entirely or almost entirely based on community votes

Q: Does the name Rami (רמי‎) have a meaning based in Judaism? If so, what is it?

Ani YodeaIf רמ means high or exalted, does רמי mean my exalted? I am assuming that the name רמי is a full proper Jewish name and not a nickname for Rahamim or Yermiyahu.

@TheOne Y"K. I added Talmudic context for you, so that your question is specific enough to be answered.

kewl, thanks
@IsaacMoses, do we have a reason to assume that it doesn't mean "my exalted"?
Aside from it be a haughty name.

@TheOne <shrug>. I have no idea.
