You asked this already! judaism.stackexchange.com/q/55157/759 Don't reask questions just because you didn't get an answer. — Double AA ♦ 2 hours ago
Close as dupe or edit out the q from the older one?

3:04 AM
@DoubleAA looks like a dupe to me. Does the answer on the newer one address the older one? If so, merge?

@Scimonster Sorry about that! I think we made sure that the Pesach one would print on A4, but never tested the Purim card.
@Scimonster AFAICT, this has the links to the final word version
Note that if you look at them in GDocs preview, they won't look the same as the published PDFs. You have to open in Word proper.

@DoubleAA How did you bump this?
Our policy on tagging questions based on the answer(s) seems to be at odds with SO's
Not that that's a problem, just pointing it out.
"adding more tags that describe the problem also helps the question to be found later."

Q: Why is an edit link disabled on a question that is not locked, on-hold, or closed?

MikeI was going to remove the "cats" tag on the question How do we kill all the cats in Israel? Not terribly important, just some community clean-up work. I cannot though since the "edit" link is disabled. I cannot figure out why that is.

@Nafkamina @IsaacMoses @MonicaCellio They sent me an updated copy that includes attribution. The "Is PT permissible" isn't from us per se, but they credited the others.

Q: Nobody cares how YOU pronounce it

phenryI'll come right out and admit it: I'm a pretty self-absorbed person, and I sometimes have a hard time remembering that not everything is always about me. To this day I believe deep in the core of my soul that when I leave the house in the morning, someone somewhere deploys an army of drivers with...

I wonder if this Meta English post has any bearing on the state of how MY treats "psak" questions....
....I'm not saying anything with this ^^^, exactly, but that it might be valuable in the discussion surrounding RfP questions in the future. Why reinvent the wheel if someone hands you one?

@Shokhet I think this is analogous to a question that looks sort of pesak-like, but probably isn't intended as such, which I agree the best approach to is to edit.

@IsaacMoses you mean, something like judaism.stackexchange.com/q/27069/5323?
that makes sense

@Shokhet Fixed with two characters.

@IsaacMoses I saw that. ....I didn't think that this question needed a fix, but if you think it will make it clearer to new users that RfPs don't belong here, then that's a good edit.

@Shokhet marginally, I admit

6:18 PM
@Shokhet also, very relevant to the question it's posted under :)

Someone remind me next Adar that I have an answer to the being machmir on matanos l'evyonim question

@YeZ Shushan Purim isn't over yet!

@IsaacMoses, do we have until the end of Purim Meshulash for PTIJ?
Does anyone know which email on Koren's American English page should be used for questions regarding the content of their books? (such as mine about their Minhag Anglia machzorim)

@IsaacMoses Erev Shabbos is not a good time for me to spend writing an answer.
In fact, my time here is up
good Shabbos!

@NoachmiFrankfurt Looks like we have six years to determine it. Maybe post the Mi Yodeya Meta question now.
Purim (/ˈpʊərɪm/; Hebrew: פּוּרִים Pûrîm "lots", from the word פור pur, related to Akkadian: pūru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire where a plot had been formed to destroy them. The story is recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Ester מגילת אסתר in Hebrew). According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus (presumed to be Xerxes I of Persia), planned to kill all the Jews in the empire, but his plans were foiled by Mordecai and his cousin and adopted daughter Esther, who had risen to become...
@YeZ Shabbat Shalom!

@YeZ gutt shabbos
@IsaacMoses What about this year? I can post a question, however I doubt it will be resolved that quickly

7:14 PM
@NoachmiFrankfurt This year is not triangular. Shushan Purim is observed in its entirety today, erev Shabbat.

@IsaacMoses I thought it was (based mainly on the occurrence of MY questions on the subject). Why isn't it?

@NoachmiFrankfurt See WP. Triangular only applies when Shushan Purim (or Purim, I guess, when, bimheira viyameinu, we reinstate Kiddush Hachodesh, and it comes out that way) falls on Shabbat, so the observances get spread to before and after.

@IsaacMoses I guess I was confused. Nu, anyway, I guess it's still a good question

@NoachmiFrankfurt IMO, the Sunday should still be kosher for P"T, since in Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh, they'll still be needing P"T for their Se'udot then.
... "we'll ... our," preferably

@IsaacMoses huh? Is this to me?

Q: PTIJ in a year with Purim Meshulash

Noach mi FrankfurtIn some years, Shushan Purim (15 Adar) falls on Shabbat, as with 2008/5768 and 2021/5781. In such a case, Those cities which observe Shushan Purim will extend the festivities over three days. In those years, should we permit Purim Torah questions to be asked throughout Purim Meshulash, rather t...

@IsaacMoses that works

@Scimonster @Shokhet @DoubleAA ... and why? the score hasn't changed since Monday.
@Scimonster Also on MSE (but from the days that it was == MSO)

7:43 PM
Are most of this site's users fluent in Hebrew?

@Mr.Bultitude Probably not fluent, but depends on what you mean by "users" and by "Hebrew." Most active users, for example, are probably pretty good at reading Bibilcal and Mishnaic Hebrew, but may fall short of reading or speaking fluently in Modern Hebrew

@IsaacMoses In spite of your definitional caveat, I think you gave exactly the sort of answer I wanted.

@Mr.Bultitude :) Glad to hear it.

@IsaacMoses ....also a good question :)

@msh210 +1 and bravo :)
All right, I (who, not @DoubleAA, closed this) hereby bow to the pressure and will be the fourth and fifth reopener. — msh210 ♦ 1 hour ago

@IsaacMoses Just bumping the whole thread to give it another run down the main page. More new users may run into it.
@Shokhet That is explicitly entered in the edit summary by SE
@Scimonster Added a hard return to move the link even lower. IIRC.

Repeat of an earlier kashia:
Does anyone know which email on Koren's American English page should be used for questions regarding the content of their books? (such as mine about their Minhag Anglia machzorim)

9:21 PM
@NoachmiFrankfurt Just try one and see what happens. If you don't get an answer within a week, try another.
Or cc a couple

9:41 PM
@IsaacMoses Thanks! Will try motzei Shabbat (I have time now, but I've got to run to get to schul early :)

9:59 PM
I don't know if this question would be better asked here in chat, or on the main site, but in the Christian New Testament it says: "Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, 'Look, your disciples are doing zwhat is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.'" Was it indeed unlawful for them to pluck heads of grain on the Sabbath?
