I was going to remove the "cats" tag on the question How do we kill all the cats in Israel? Not terribly important, just some community clean-up work. I cannot though since the "edit" link is disabled. I cannot figure out why that is.
@Nafkamina @IsaacMoses @MonicaCellio They sent me an updated copy that includes attribution. The "Is PT permissible" isn't from us per se, but they credited the others.
I'll come right out and admit it: I'm a pretty self-absorbed person, and I sometimes have a hard time remembering that not everything is always about me. To this day I believe deep in the core of my soul that when I leave the house in the morning, someone somewhere deploys an army of drivers with...
I wonder if this Meta English post has any bearing on the state of how MY treats "psak" questions....
....I'm not saying anything with this ^^^, exactly, but that it might be valuable in the discussion surrounding RfP questions in the future. Why reinvent the wheel if someone hands you one?
@Shokhet I think this is analogous to a question that looks sort of pesak-like, but probably isn't intended as such, which I agree the best approach to is to edit.
@IsaacMoses I saw that. ....I didn't think that this question needed a fix, but if you think it will make it clearer to new users that RfPs don't belong here, then that's a good edit.
@IsaacMoses, do we have until the end of Purim Meshulash for PTIJ?
Does anyone know which email on Koren's American English page should be used for questions regarding the content of their books? (such as mine about their Minhag Anglia machzorim)
Purim (/ˈpʊərɪm/; Hebrew: פּוּרִים Pûrîm "lots", from the word פור pur, related to Akkadian: pūru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire where a plot had been formed to destroy them. The story is recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Ester מגילת אסתר in Hebrew).
According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus (presumed to be Xerxes I of Persia), planned to kill all the Jews in the empire, but his plans were foiled by Mordecai and his cousin and adopted daughter Esther, who had risen to become...
@NoachmiFrankfurt See WP. Triangular only applies when Shushan Purim (or Purim, I guess, when, bimheira viyameinu, we reinstate Kiddush Hachodesh, and it comes out that way) falls on Shabbat, so the observances get spread to before and after.
@NoachmiFrankfurt IMO, the Sunday should still be kosher for P"T, since in Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh, they'll still be needing P"T for their Se'udot then.
In some years, Shushan Purim (15 Adar) falls on Shabbat, as with 2008/5768 and 2021/5781. In such a case, Those cities which observe Shushan Purim will extend the festivities over three days.
In those years, should we permit Purim Torah questions to be asked throughout Purim Meshulash, rather t...
@Mr.Bultitude Probably not fluent, but depends on what you mean by "users" and by "Hebrew." Most active users, for example, are probably pretty good at reading Bibilcal and Mishnaic Hebrew, but may fall short of reading or speaking fluently in Modern Hebrew
Repeat of an earlier kashia: Does anyone know which email on Koren's American English page should be used for questions regarding the content of their books? (such as mine about their Minhag Anglia machzorim)
I don't know if this question would be better asked here in chat, or on the main site, but in the Christian New Testament it says: "Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, 'Look, your disciples are doing zwhat is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.'" Was it indeed unlawful for them to pluck heads of grain on the Sabbath?
