@msh210 looks ok to me.

@DoubleAA hmm, I'd forgotten about those. The example off-topic posts in the meta post seem to be about Jews distinct from Judaism -- e.g. how many Jews are there in Congress (rightly off-topic). I wonder if biography questions about religious leaders/scholars are different; would a question about Rashi's family be off-topic?
I don't have a strong opinion either way; I'm just trying to tease out where "Jewish life" ends along this dimension.
This is the meta post I was referring to (linked in one of those questions):

@MonicaCellio I linked to it as well in my above chat post.
@MonicaCellio If they are history of Jewish law or of Jewish life then they are fine (example asking if certain Rabbis followed some certain law or practice or when a certain law or practice started/stopped) not just history of Jewish people. It needs a tie-in kind of like how we look for tie-ins for Hebrew language questions.

@DoubleAA yeah, sounds like a good guideline. That'd close the instant question, methinks.
I'm thinking judaism.stackexchange.com/q/22542 is a dupe or near-dupe but can't find it.
