Hey everyone. I've got a question I can't ask as an actual question on the site because 1) it's a tune-identification question and 2) I don't even know whether the tune exists elsewhere, but I was wondering whether people here would be able to help anyway.

I've tried searching online for a "limerick tune", but none of them match.

(Like it's literally a case of, as soon as I'm reading a limerick, it's that tune playing in my head, it's basically a defining feature of limericks to me that they're sung in that tune, and yet I can't find that tune anywhere.)

@JoeZ. 'music fans' is still young and things are being reassessed for various reasons so don't take that meta page as gospel. You could always ask in chat there... but I don't think anyone would be offended if you asked What's the 'limerick tune'?

It reminds me of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popeye#Theme_song ...

(Though on second thoughts I'm not sure that I think of it as a limerick tune myself... )

@Dom I think - as this goes out of mod territory and into SE dev territory - that the notes against that user account add up, and lead to removal of privileges and suspensions. I know it gets flagged, and action is taken at that level, but the autodetect script is pretty effective.

@RoryAlsop Yeah because a few days ago I was serial down voted it and it looks like it happened again today.

May not be a limerick, but it certainly fits the meter.

@Dom someone is obviously playing silly with your posts - you can check and make sure they get reversed out. And if it does keep happening I can point the SE devs at your case specifically

@Dom Yeah - at least 2 auto systems in place, and manual workarounds for those that don't get caught :-)
