9:00 PM
@AlanMunn Avro? Guardians put this linguist into custody

@AlanMunn: I am sure, egreg is providing a solution to this question here right now, so he's occupied: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/193659/…

@ChristianHupfer sounds likely

@ChristianHupfer I already have one, but it works word by word (based on his code).

@AlanMunn: Go ahead, post it

Guys, i am offliine for tonight. Good night.

9:02 PM

And or have a nice day

@AlanMunn Did I mention Bersarin Quartett? If yes here is an apology :P

@PauloCereda Haven't had the Duck Song in a long time

@Johannes_B :)

@percusse I don't think so. But thanks also for the apology. :)

9:06 PM
@PauloCereda The dancing banana isn't available in Germany, GEMA :-(

Get lost in the @ jungle go through hundreds lines of code and get two votes. Take an example and put it as an answer get 21 votes thanks to a frog tex.stackexchange.com/questions/193555/…

@Johannes_B: Have a good night. Und einen scheenen Gruss nach Sachsen, wo die scheenen Mädels auf den Bäumen wachsen ;-)

@AlanMunn, @percusse: youtube.com/watch?v=_SBue1DuCyc
@Johannes_B Oh. :(

I don't want to sound like I don't like votes :) but still I mean 21 really?

@percusse We've all been there :)
@PauloCereda Not available for my phone's platform?

9:09 PM
@GonzaloMedina :)

@GonzaloMedina Uh-oh. :(

@AlanMunn Ok last one

@cis Seems yummy!
@AlanMunn I heard it!

Hey sharelatex.com went open source! Cool
2

@PauloCereda Unfortunately it was available for my laptop. I couldn't make it pass the first 20 secs, though!

9:12 PM
@GonzaloMedina :)
@percusse Yay! Now it's time for us go closed source and sell support! :)

@percusse I really need to listen to more jazz.

cis
@egreg ;)

@AlanMunn Nah, nobody really needs to listen to jazz ;)

@AlanMunn I can only agree. Wait a few more months until I get this and a few other stuff and start recording again.
Our band is kinda taking off but I don't wanna jinx it :)

@GonzaloMedina To quote @egreg: la la la la I'm not listening. :)

9:21 PM
Well, I am off for chat, have a nice time

@ChristianHupfer You too!

@ChristianHupfer Laterz.

Thanks to all

@ChristianHupfer Have a nice evening! :)
Guys, look what I found in my backups:
user image
5

@PauloCereda AMAZING!
Jail ,,,, hahahahahaha

9:30 PM
@percusse We could make this a reality. :)

Bad box, baaaaaad bad box

@percusse LOL

Your uncle found a TeX file that uses \newline for line breaks. Pay $100
Somebody asked a question whose answer is just given in the manual. You earned 200 upvotes.

@percusse LOL

@PauloCereda the jail is just amazing

9:38 PM
@tohecz With a bad keming too. :)

@PauloCereda I want this image to design a real one. Can you please send it to me?

(That makes 100 errors; please try again.) -- pay $100

@GonzaloMedina The TeXpoly one? :) Sure. :)

@PauloCereda Yep, that one!

We definitely should create one.
By the way, guys: I thought of a project that we could come up and post as a blog post!
@GonzaloMedina Just gimme a couple of minutes, I'm in the middle of a backup. :)

9:41 PM
@PauloCereda I think it should be called TeXopoly not TeXpoly.

@PauloCereda Who is "guys"?

@AlanMunn ooh! :)
@GonzaloMedina Everybody. :)

@PauloCereda Trust the linguist.

How about we come up with a nice TeX cheatcube?
@GonzaloMedina :)

@PauloCereda I think you mentioned this idea some time ago.

9:42 PM
@GonzaloMedina Yep, and it's back. :)

@GonzaloMedina which name, although it is an etymological abomination which @egreg will cringe at, is much more pronounceable.

@AlanMunn Curious! I tend to find "TeXpoly" more easy to pronounce than "TeXopoly"; the latter sounds funny to my ears.
@PauloCereda Do you already have any text for the faces in mind?

@GonzaloMedina That's actually the problem: we might need to come up with some useful information. :)

@GonzaloMedina At least in English, because the stress in Monopoly is on the middle 'o', losing it in a new version is quite jarring to (my) English ears. So the one without the 'o' loses much of its connection to the original word.

@Alan: we might need a fellow TeX gentleman with a big moustache to be sponsoring the game. :)

9:47 PM
@AlanMunn Ah, yes, that explains it. "Monopolio" (in Spanish) has the stress in the third "o", so "TeXpolio", which is closer to "TeXpoly" than to "TeXopoly", sounds better in my mind.

Holy cow!

@percusse: ^^ sir! :)
I finally managed to build it again! :)

What does this T.Tantau guy eat for breakfast? Constantly updating...

@percusse macros, perhaps. :)

@PauloCereda I saw what you did there

@percusse :)

9:51 PM
@PauloCereda @percusse But he doesn't eat them, he \@gobbles them.

@AlanMunn LOL
@AlanMunn His kitchen is probably enclosed in \makeatletter and \makeatother then. :)

@PauloCereda No, it a class kitchen.

@percusse hahaha

@percusse Nom nom nom.

9:58 PM
Ok you may or may not approve his lead but I found this very touchy
a font for chavez

@percusse It's even uglier than CS.

@egreg Kant disagrees :)
And again, I don't think CS is ugly >:)

@percusse I seem to know that text! ;-)

@percusse This is so awful it doesn't need fancychap to make it awful.

@AlanMunn Well his handwriting is bad, what's it there to blame the font?

10:06 PM
@percusse LOL Does it have accents? :)

By the way, you might enjoy another case of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
3
A: Alignment of several case environments at the equals sign

egregRemember to never use consecutive math display environments: a sequence of equation environment should be a single gather (or align). Here are three ways for doing your development of Cardan's formulas, getting worse from left to right (like “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”). There is no need...

@AlanMunn LOL I sense fancychap is the equivalent of yo momma jokes for TeX people. :)

@PauloCereda Yes mostly on socialism :)

@percusse hahaha

@PauloCereda :)

10:08 PM
@percusse still around?

@egreg Do you know who started this left brace notation? I might invent the time machine for that to give him a slap at the back of the head
@tohecz Yep
@egreg What does it even mean?

@percusse when you have a repeat, and one bar in the middle of the repeat should be played differently the 1st and the 2nd time, don't you know aout a reasonable notation for that?

@tohecz Hmm, hang on. Does it go like this ?
|-1-||-a-||-2-||-1-||-b-||-2-|

@percusse yep, exactly. Moreover, it's only the verse, then there's the refrain yet
and moreover, it's really only one bar

@percusse No, but I guess it's quite old.

10:12 PM
@tohecz And in the middle? That's an odder case; the typical one is different endings. I don't think there's a standard way to do that.

@AlanMunn yep, it's for verses with different phrasing

@percusse Coda madness. :)

@tohecz Well people use D.S. to fine stuff ? So you can loop around with it but it is still a little redundant
Let me check, there was this varied coda thingy somewhere

@percusse D.C.?
Ah not Italian, sorry.
Da capo al fine. :)

@PauloCereda :)
dal segno

10:15 PM
@percusse ooh!

@percusse The problem is, it's really a repetition, just with one bar "wrong"
I'll very likely just write out all the 8 bars 3 times

@tohecz You can use it but it's a little esoteric piano.about.com/od/musicaltermsa1/g/GL_DScoda.htm
And doesn't solve it exactly

@percusse D.S.al C. is not esoteric at all :) but not really suitable for my case :(
there's so many of these in piano sheets
I'll very likely end in putting the alternative version in small print above the standard one

@tohecz In @percusse 's little diagram you could just put a repeat on 1 and then a2 and b2 as the codas.
@tohecz That sounds pretty usable for one bar.

@AlanMunn yep. But then I'll have three 3-bar codas containing only 5 different bars :-/

10:21 PM
@tohecz I know.

@tohecz Actually I would go with
     ------------------------------------
|-a-||1.           |2.           |3.           |-b-|
It's not standard notation but might serve it's purpose

cis
@PauloCereda Wuhh, I want to play a round TeXopoly :)

@percusse I see what you did here. However, as a player, I would very likely end playing 2 extra bars each verse :p

@cis :)

10:25 PM
@tohecz Not if you put the repeat bars around a and b
so b is included in the repeat

@percusse I see, but still, I would be confused. I will add the ossia bars and see what happens

@tohecz I agree it's not unambiguous. And yes, phew... ossia
I never remember that

@percusse \usepackage[poligl]{ossia} :)

@tohecz I like this solution a lot for this case.

@PauloCereda Now I'll never forget

10:31 PM
I just don't know where to put the ossia for LH

@tohecz LH?

left hand ;)

You don't have bass clef?

@tohecz You mean in a piano score? Couldn't you fit it in between the bass and the treble parts?

@tohecz And what do you use for writing? Lilypond?

10:35 PM
@AlanMunn what do you call by bass and treble?

cis
@StefanKottwitz: Check your mails - first mail I sent goes to infinity

@percusse of course

@tohecz Well, I tend to switch to MuseScore occasionally :)
It can also play

@tohecz I guess LH (usually bass) and RH (usually treble).

@AlanMunn ah yeah, we don't often use this notation, since it gets confusing
moreover, for the organ, you have RH, LH, Ped, and now tell me what is the bass ;)

10:40 PM
@tohecz How do you write the notes for different tessitura

@tohecz Don't ask me, I play the recorder... I really don't know what bass is.

You use

@percusse treble clef, bass clef and bass clef, mostly

yes so that's two different clefs no?
LH is usually on the bass clef

@percusse yep, but three different staffs

10:42 PM
@cis I got it. My texblog address is fine, TeXwelt in contrast is not a mailserver (just if somebody wants ;)

@tohecz So each has an ossia set
Or I got your idea wrong

@percusse not really
ah for my score? it's not organ, fortunately :p
I'm almost there actually, only three problems are left to be solved

@tohecz OK play this as a punishment

Bass clef = F-clef. :)
@percusse It hurts, IT HURTS!

@PauloCereda and threble clef = violin clef = G-clef

10:44 PM
@tohecz yep. :)

@PauloCereda A nice one from Steve Vai :) It's actually quite easy once you slow down enough and read like TeX

@PauloCereda and then you have the treble_8 clef, which is so popular for tenor parts, but I so hate it as a pianist

A clef (from French: clef “key”) is a musical symbol used to indicate the pitch of written notes. Placed on one of the lines at the beginning of the stave, it indicates the name and pitch of the notes on that line. This line serves as a reference point by which the names of the notes on any other line or space of the stave may be determined. Only one clef that references a note in a space rather than on a line has ever been used. There are three types of clef used in modern music notation: F, C, and G. Each type of clef assigns a different reference note to the line (and in rare cases, the space...

@percusse just don't call it all clefs and it'll be fine

Look for other ridiculous stuff :)

10:48 PM
Je lostè ma clef? = I lost my key? :)

South Park Clef

@percusse Hi chef! :)

ok, now I need to (1) remove the whitespace, (2) move the "5" a bit down, (3) add the clefs at the actual beginning of the ossia

@percusse LOL I see what you did there.

for Barry White tessitura

10:55 PM
anyways, I started to fall asleep, so it's the right time to say goodnight

11:15 PM
@tohecz Goodnight.

@AlanMunn bye

cis
Enjoy the ocgx package! texwelt.de/wissen/upfiles/schaltertest.pdf (Thx @StefanKottwitz for uploading)
