Using Jabref and Libreoffice. I have a source that includes spaces and the word 'and' in a single author's name. Jabref parses this according to the usual rules - spaces separate first and last names, 'and' separating multiple authors. I have wrapped the name in an extra set of braces like so:

Some "helpful" person seems to be engaging in some sort of campaign to vote systematically but indiscriminately on questions I have asked or answered in the past. Is there any way that can be stopped (beyond waiting for the system to identify the abuse and roll it back)?
@PaulStanley Ask @JosephWright . However, as long as it's upvotes, it's only disturbing, but it doesn't affect anything. They simply get reversed the second day
You are right, Optima is even more difficult to combine than any odd sans-serif ;) It looks like a serif but without the serifs. Amazingly, Iwona has just the same characteristics. If you compare tug.dk/FontCatalogue/iwona and tug.dk/FontCatalogue/optima, the two are really close.
@JosephWright Frank was looking at last few gnats entry on his list, ltnews21 could probably do with a proof read. I'm not sure if we are going to make a private test for a few days like we used to or if we will rely on the tl2014 pretesters
@Mico Also, I'm a bit concerned how long it would take to get all the details right. I mean there are a lot of fonts used in a document once you get down to the individual character level:
I really wish there was a way to just keep all the Type 1 goodness from the pdflatex version of a document and then switch to OTF on a case by case basis for lualatex.

@Christian They removed it in chrome 24: there is no mathml support (so it uses a gazillion lines of mathjax javascript instead) (wikipedia uses mathjax for all I think to make things consistent)
@DavidCarlisle Oh you're right of course. I was thinking of MathJax.
I didn't even know there was a browser that supported MathML at all. When I was still using Firefox, I visited MathML test pages every now and then and it always looked like a bomb went off in a letter case.
@Christian firefox has pretty full support for presentation mathml2, with some mathml3 features It doesn't support content mathml without an addon. test pages may have been wrong (wouldn't be the first time:-)
@DavidCarlisle That's entirely possible. If anything can get me the same maths capabilities as MathJax without taking half a minute to render a maths-heavy Wikipedia page, I'm happy.
@Christian the google folks said everyone was happy with a javascript implementation math and they didn't want to support it so they pulled the webkit implementation (which is in safari) when they forked blink.
@Christian we'll get there in the end, but it's a long slog. For a while at the beginning of 2013 every common browser had (or could have) a native implementation (IE required mathplayer but that's native code) but then google pulled mathml from blink, opera adopted blink and microsoft broke mathplayer. grrrr

in beamer when using \AtBeginSection{ ... } to display the currentsection currentsubsection toc, is it possible to block it in order to avoid twice the same slide after the \tableofcontents slide?
@DavidCarlisle haha definitely not, from our train station (not even close to the busiest in the netherlands) about 30 trains depart in 4 different directions each hour
@DavidCarlisle the busiest station is Utrecht Central Station, from which some 150 trains depart per hour, although that's spread over some more directions (I think 10 different main lines)
@hugovdberg yes I lived in Manchester for over 20 years before moving here, where you never really looked at a bus or train timetable for local travel, one just always turned up, it was a bit of a shock when I moved here:-)
@DavidCarlisle sounds nice, I must admit I love to visit my parents. They live at the edge of a small village, and the pavement just stops at their front door, from there on it's just a dusty track into the woods :) really nice and quiet out there
@DavidCarlisle they're trying to make more trains depart from our station as well, problem is there are too many level crossings at the moment which then would be practically closed all the time :P so there were some complaints after a trial two years ago
but they've been very busy reducing the number of level crossings so there will be new trial soon I think :)
@Johannes_B I've been terribly busy myself too :) although last weekend I really had nothing I needed to do for the first time in a month or three, so I spent it very well, in the sun with some nice cold beer ;-)
@Johannes_B Wieck (well actually it's spelled Wijck, but all those non-Maastrichtians will pronounce it wrong) is a neighbourhood in the center of Maastricht, and Witte means white
@Johannes_B so it's a weizenbier in the dutch/belgian tradition, from my hometown Maastricht :)
