What should I do to make the fonts get properly rendered?
Here is the output when viewed by Acrobat Reader:

3:55 AM
@IamwhoIsayIam I think acroread is especially bad at this. If you're on Linux, you could try Evince.

4:20 AM
hmm I really should have bought a moka express much earlier, I love it, especially with some freshly ground coffee :)

@StephanLehmke OK, thanks. I will format my OS and install Ubuntu soon.

4 hours later…
8:19 AM
@PauloCereda It's a bit like the Psmith of LaTeX compilation. You should include a directive for querying Wolfram Alpha ;-)

9:15 AM
@StephanLehmke ooh that would be very evil! I like it. :)

Weird, I had no idea there was a twitter account that tweeted links to questions
Also I got a really strange edit request
Not sure if it's spam
I can't find any way to report the user, the suggested edits, or anything
Maybe I don't have the required rep

9:34 AM
@PauloCereda Oh turning it into a general purpose application? Why not add automated programming, packaging and uploading to CTAN based on some task description in the comments to my thesis? % arara: someone should really package this monster of a macro:

@hftf Ask one of the moderators, such as @JosephWright. (I can't remember who the others are off the top of my head.)

@hugovdberg :)

9:56 AM
while (true) {
   WHAT DO I DO NOW?
}

@PauloCereda :-D

Oh wow. No one's ever called me a goddess before. :-)
You are the goddess of LaTeX. Thank you! I have added a little variable \newcommand{\FristinWerktagen}{10} ("DeadlineInWorkingDays") which I define at the top and in your command and I have turned \thisyear-\thismonth-\thisday into \thisday.\thismonth.\thisyear (my inner nerd prefers the first, but real people need to read this ;) and it's perfect. Again, Thank you! — Christian 28 mins ago
I really need to finish my new LaTeX book.

10:31 AM
@NicolaTalbot Stefan Kottwitz and Martin Scharrer (tex.stackexchange.com/users?tab=moderators)

@TorbjørnT. Oh yes, of course. Thanks.

11:07 AM
One thousand rep points more, and the total would be great.

@Johannes_B :o)

Or one upvote and one revision

@Johannes_B This is my best, up to now

That are so many more 2 digits
figures?

@Johannes_B 2 many digits :P (sounds like me counting my drinks in a bar: I had 1, 2, ehh many drinks :P)

11:22 AM
@hugovdberg is there a plural form of 2/two?

@Johannes_B twos is the correct plural form according to my dictionary, although it looks very strange

That are so many more twos
@hugovdberg That looks wrong.

@Johannes_B yup, but it isn't (except you're not specifying what it is relative to)
Those weird Englishmen :P (oops, hope @DavidCarlisle doesn't mind :P)

@hugovdberg I guess @DavidCarlisle already knows :-)
@hugovdberg egregs rep in the pic in comparison to mine

@hugovdberg yep that's what it should be
@hugovdberg we can't be blamed if the various languages from which we stole words have inconsistent grammatical constructs.

11:36 AM
@NicolaTalbot Saint Nicola Talbot of Norwich, patroness of TeX users, invoked during expansion struggles; declared blessed by pope Oberdiek {\romannumeral 1\relax} and recently proclaimed saint by our Holiness Gregorio {\romannumeral 17\relax}.

@PauloCereda kill -9 %1

@DavidCarlisle LOL

@DavidCarlisle you can be blamed for not adapting it to your grammatical constructs thereby making your own grammatical constructs even worse than which you stole it from ;-)

@hugovdberg That's a silly suggestion: no English person understands English grammar well enough to make such an adoption.

@egreg oooooh! :)
Hey @Norbert is here! :)

11:40 AM
@DavidCarlisle ahh that's what the international baccalaureate is for, you just hope to attract some smart foreigners that can fix it for you?

I think @egreg would enjoy to read this ^

@PauloCereda Oh my! Where did I put my halo?

@egreg so do you have a plan on how to hit 333333? Do you need me to downvote any of your answers?

@DavidCarlisle Ah well, Dutch grammar isn't always as consistent as it could be, sometimes English is easier ;-) for example a pancake in English, could be pannekoek or panneNkoek, and nobody knows for sure which is the correct spelling until they look it up, as the other variant is unofficially allowed as well because iirc according to the new spelling rules it should be panneNkoek (litteraly panscake) while you make it in a single pan, so pannekoek is more logical, but technically incorrect..

@DavidCarlisle You should try the Norfolk approach to grammar! We do different here. :-)

11:46 AM
@NicolaTalbot find . -type halo :)

@PauloCereda Or kpsewhich halo.sty :-)

@NicolaTalbot ooh way better! :)

@PauloCereda I think you just downgraded Nicola from Goddess to a mere saint,

@NicolaTalbot shouldn't you add some class?

@DavidCarlisle Uh-oh. :)

11:49 AM
@egreg I stopped trusting screenshots of web pages ever since browsers started coming built with web inspectors :o)

@hugovdberg Good idea kpsewhich halo.{sty,cls} :-)

@egreg As you can see I've already beaten you to the punch :o)

@hftf that's nothing, look at my meta account :P

@hugovdberg Yeah, but have you gotten THREE… uhm, uh…… lanthanum badges?
and in just 10 minutes? I didn't think so!

@hftf LOL

12:03 PM
:o)

!!/eightball Are these images fake?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: stop hassling me, dud.

12:22 PM
I have to go, can somebody give him some hints, please? tex.stackexchange.com/questions/172008/…
Bye guys

12:40 PM
!!/eightball O Great Oracle, did I tell the truth?

1:24 PM
@egreg Computer says, no :P

@hugovdberg :P

I had some fun with my rdfref package:
0
A: Show graph of references inside a document

michal.h21I took a look at my rdfref package, which wasn't easy, as I haven't written any documentation and there were also no comments in the source code. So I improved the situation, fixed some bugs, wrote some comments, but the documentation is still to be done. rdfref is inspired with RDF, as name sug...

1:45 PM
@michal.h21 Nice!

2:20 PM
Hi everyone

!!/eightball O Great Oracle, did I tell the truth?

@egreg Computer says, no :P

@egreg Oh let me enable our bot. :)
!!/help
Hello?

@PauloCereda Computer says, no :P

@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: Good morning! I'm Psmith, the friendly TeX bot - the p in my name is silent, as in pshrimp. I'm here as a companion to our fellow users in the typographic land. As you probably noticed, I always reply under Paulo's account, but do not despair, I say, my replies are always preceded by my own name. Enjoy your stay at TeX.sx! If you need any help, just ask our chat residents. Cheerio!
@hugovdberg Shut up. :)
@egreg: it's on. :)

2:30 PM
!!/eightball O Great Oracle, did I tell the truth?

@egreg **Psmith, the TeX bot:** The great *8-ball* says: very doubtful.
@egreg **Psmith, the TeX bot:** The great *8-ball* says: it ain't happening.

@PauloCereda finally, we're getting there

@egreg Uh-oh. :) Two answer. I might reset, hold on.

@PauloCereda @egreg hate to say I told you so :P

@hugovdberg I have witnesses.

2:31 PM

@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: Here is your fortune: How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

@egreg Psmith, the TeX bot: The great oracle says: egreg

@PauloCereda ok, i'll keep quiet, going to make me some coffee :)

Psmith, the TeX bot, in fixed font mode: Let's take a look at the last cricket results:

- Mountaineers 402/10 &  225/2 * v Southern Rocks 247/10
- Delhi T20 1 * v Bangalore T20

Our cricket expert David might explain these results later on.
@hugovdberg How's the coffee machine doing? :)

2:35 PM
@PauloCereda it's doing great :)

!!/eightball Is it safe to drink @hugovdberg's coffee? :)
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: it is decidedly so.

@PauloCereda :)

!!/battle
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The current score is egreg 190 vs. 115 David. So far, egreg is winning.
@egreg: no rep cap?!

I thought there was a cap on how much rep you could earn on a day, is that disabled in beta or just overall? already gained 250 rep today on earth science

@PauloCereda Slow day. But I guess I'll get the missing vote in the next seven hours. ;-)

2:40 PM
@hugovdberg I think rep from ticks are not limited by the daily 200 rep cap. :)
@egreg :)

@hugovdberg Accept ticks and bounties don't count.

lol, I'm nr 3 in rep now :) but this chat is way more fun :)
@egreg ah ok, then it'll probably stay at this level today, it's indeed 247 rep, with 3 of my posts accepted and 1 accepted by me

@hugovdberg <3
!!/fortune
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: Here is your fortune: Someone will invite you to a Karaoke party.

@PauloCereda :( now it's no surprise karaoke party anymore..

I just downloaded an app that allows me to use my laptop keyboard for my phone. Very cool. [Sent from my iPhone; typed from my keyboard].

2:58 PM
I finally won a game of 2048 :P

3:10 PM

@egreg Psmith, the TeX bot: The current score is egreg 200 vs. 125 David. So far, egreg is winning.

3:29 PM
@JosephWright: You have Steam, don't you? Get a game named Life goes on. :)

3:45 PM
@PauloCereda well, that's a surprise, given who was asking.

4:01 PM
@DavidCarlisle :)

@DavidCarlisle Envy, as usual. Just because today nobody found bugs in your packages.

@egreg There are no bugs in my packages.

4:17 PM
@DavidCarlisle Yes, we know: only undocumented features.

4:30 PM
@egreg see, you have learnt something on this site.

4:41 PM
!!/eightball Does David's packages have bugs?
@PauloCereda Psmith, the TeX bot: The great 8-ball says: yes. Beware, Alan might stab you.
o.O

5:00 PM
@PauloCereda just found the Coffee proposal in Area51, hopefully it will make it any time soon, still in definition..

Question about PDF viewers...
...most of them display a page layout that has at most 2 pages horizontally...
...and then everything stacked vertically.
What other PDF viewers out there would allow for modifying this layout to be more horizontal rather than vertical?

@Werner you mean just all pages next to each other? or just more than two?

All pages next to one another would be good...
...or just more than two... would also be good.
I'm just limited now with Adobe (and Sumatra it seems) to view in an "at most 2" layout.
And yes, I use Adobe Reader, but if there's a free viewer out there than has a different view layout, lemme know!

5:16 PM
@Werner which OS? Windows?

@hugovdberg Yes, I use Windows...
...so sorry @egreg, I guess you won't help here. :-|
@hugovdberg Any information would help though...

@Werner I'm currently not on windows either ;-) but the last screenshot on this page looks promising: tech-recipes.com/rx/2904/…
underneath the dropdown seems to be an option to change the number of facing pages, though I'm not sure if you can fill in any number or just have the choice between 1 or 2 pages..

@hugovdberg Thanks...
...I'll take a quick look.
It seems like an easy alternative is to view the "page thumbnails" in Adobe, which adjusts depending on the window size.

@Werner I have used foxit before, it's not too bad, it's much more lean in memory usage than adobe reader (which is good at a shared remote desktop server ;-)), but also less responsive at times (although we could always blame the internet connection if it stuttered :P)
but I just realised I have to go to the shop real quick to fetch me some dinner :P so see you guys later!

5:34 PM
@hugovdberg Thanks.
@hugovdberg Foxit does allow for adjusting the number of pages displayed horizontally.
Thanks again.

5:49 PM
@NicolaTalbot That is classic!

@Werner I can't work out whether I laugh or cringe more!

6:04 PM
@NicolaTalbot Your books are great. I'm deeply in love with your manuals :D

@MarioS.E. Thanks :-)

@NicolaTalbot I haven't had the opportunity to thank you, so, yeah... publicly hehehehe. They are by far what you really need to learn
@NicolaTalbot This thesis writing has been a complete odyssey... and you, Alan Munn, David, Egreg, Paulo and all others have been most helpful

@MarioS.E. Hopefully I'll be able to finish volume 3 soon. I've been side-tracked by other tasks.
@MarioS.E. :-)

@NicolaTalbot Are you a full time writer_
?

@MarioS.E. Mostly. In addition to the LaTeX books I also write children's fiction and adult crime fiction.

6:10 PM
@NicolaTalbot you also lecture, right?

@MarioS.E. No. I occasionally used to teach LaTeX for a two-part course, but now I just help with the UK-TUG training days with @JosephWright and some others.
(My LaTeX books were a spin-off from my LaTeX courses.)

@NicolaTalbot Pardon my ignorance, but how big is the UK TUG?

@MarioS.E. I'm not sure. @JosephWright will be able to answer that as he's the membership secretary.

A true scientist: we just thought 'more flames is always better' :P

@NicolaTalbot Are you on holidays in the UK?

6:17 PM
@MarioS.E. It's the school holidays, and most people don't work over the Easter weekend.
Which has reminded me of the time. Must dash. I have to go to church. Bye.

@egreg do you like Vivaldi? Or can't you because he's from Venice? :P

@hugovdberg Well, some Venetian is not bad.

@egreg I love the fact his string parts are nice to hear and play (including the bass and cello parts, some of Mozart's are a little dull even though the entire orchestra sounds brilliant)

7:00 PM
@MarioS.E. Typically 100-150 people, currently nearer the lower end

@JosephWright Wow, still, it's huge!

7:34 PM
@hugovdberg He was a master of basso continuo.

@NicolaTalbot Just saw it now. This poor poor chap. Wonder that he didn't snap.

@Johannes_B he's an expert at self-control ;-)

@hugovdberg :-D
@PauloCereda One of them is on my table on sunday.

7:51 PM
@Johannes_B @PauloCereda I heard today the duckling we tried to save died :(

@hugovdberg Oh, poor thing

8:11 PM
@Johannes_B lol, nice trick :)

9:02 PM
@hugovdberg Oh no!
@Johannes_B Oh no!
