Hello! Does anyone know how to make it so that TeX cites appendices by letters and not by numerals?
I have the following code in my work

\makeatletter
\renewcommand{\p@theorem}{\ref@chapter{\arabic{chapter}}}
\protected\def\ref@chapter#1{%
\ifnum#1=\value{chapter}%
\else
\@Roman{#1}\,%
\fi
}
\makeatother
\renewcommand{\thechapter}{\Roman{chapter}}
and when I cite a part in the appendix A say, I get
"I 2.5" instead of "A 2.5"

@PedroTamaroff you have specified \@Roman so I,II,III etc you presumably want \@Alph if you want A,B,C

Hi. There is a deketed answer to a question tagged awesome-cv. Can you please ping joseph to convert it into a comment? I am currently trapped in this horrible SE app. Oder ich bin zu blöde. — Johannes_B 1 min ago

Q: Issues generating document, awesome-neue-latex-cv

engineer91I am trying to generate a CV using the awesome-neue-latex-cv template, found at Github. At the moment I am considering exactly the template given here. I use TeXstudio and MiKTeX. There are two issues I am having with the template: When I compile the document using PDFLaTex or XeLaTex, the f...

@henri @joseph this is a pure nightmare
Phone or app trying to keep me in the app.

9:53 AM
@Johannes_B Have tried various app things on my new phone: basically don't see the point
@HenriMenke Done (I hope)

@JosephWright perfect. Thanks

@JosephWright only three doodle entries:-)

12:07 PM
@DavidCarlisle Yes: probably go for the end of the week
@DavidCarlisle Was hoping for something from Will

@JosephWright yep
@JosephWright better use your powers to ping Frank to check my last answer:-)

12:51 PM
@DavidCarlisle :)

@Johannes_B creativeCV ? :D

4:04 PM
@DavidCarlisle Fourth one is interesting!

4:17 PM
@JosephWright oh been working, let me look..
@JosephWright :-)

@DavidCarlisle I've been at a meeting: on the train now :)

4:30 PM
@JosephWright Will you have some wine?

@egreg No

@JosephWright Low service level

@egreg Several reasons, including 'I don't drink', 'have you tried British Rail wine', etc.
@egreg Train is not too busy so I probably could get to the bar, at least

@JosephWright A cup of tea? Or is it bad like the wine?

@egreg I've had a cup of tea from the station

4:42 PM
@DavidCarlisle Right, but I cannot know where to include that change so that it affects only a few chapters.
Perhaps I should ask in main.

@PedroTamaroff why can't you just use \thechapter if that makes numbers in the main body and letters in the appendix, rather than low level \@Alph...

@DavidCarlisle I wanted roman numerals instead of numbers.

@PedroTamaroff yes but don't you just want the same as already used in the chapter/appendix heading?

if anyone around feels like either
a. dying from shame or
b. laughing until they die
come on over to the [hbar](http://chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/71/the-h-barbecue)

@PedroTamaroff I thought you said you wanted A,B,C not I,II,III ??

4:52 PM
@DavidCarlisle I want roman numerals for the chapters of the main text and letters for the appendix

I'm seeking refuge here
From the h bar
LaTeX there is hell

@SirCumference, all because of you and your newcommand

@heather Not my idea
Blame Bernardo

@SirCumference Not for me ;)

@SirCumference nope, it was you =P

4:57 PM
@heather Proof?

@heather, @SirCumference Should I zap some of the messages?

@JosephWright Nah, keep them for the time being

@JosephWright nah, they're funny

@SirCumference OK: as I said, for me there is 'nothing to see'

@SirCumference finding it

4:57 PM
@PedroTamaroff but then \appendix` or \backmatter or whatever is presumably changing \thechapter at that point already so that the chapter heading works, so your theorem code can just refer to \thechapter and get the same (but impossible to guess fragments in chat, make a document that shows the problem and ask on the main site:-)

Or rather, there are lots of use of \newcommand outside of the preamble, which bother me but ...

@DavidCarlisle OK.

@ChristianHupfer Yes, that was the reason for it :-)

@Johannes_B Ah ... I thought somebody had already found a bug in your new CV template :-P

@ChristianHupfer If somebody finds a bug, i'll send him to Frank and David.

5:07 PM
@Johannes_B Don't blame others ... it is your package/template :D

@ChristianHupfer You know the content.

@Johannes_B Yes, but it is easier to blame you ;-)

@ChristianHupfer It is always easy to blame me. Especially for templates.

@Johannes_B Well, think about that ;-) Especially about your connection to templates ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Give unique visitors, 35 views. Still only one clone.

5:11 PM
@Johannes_B And only one star ... :D

@ChristianHupfer Oh no, why did you do that?
By the way, what are the stars for?
@ChristianHupfer Summing up, about ten people every day are clicking on a link in the wikibook and land on one of my repos. I can even see the ocasional clone.

Is anybody able to confirm the issue here:

Q: List of Figures, Subfloats and Here are causing weird assigning in LOF

TheOrangemanI try to integrate subfloats in my .tex file the way they're listed under the corresponding figure-scope. Unfortunately, when using here i.e [H] to place my figure where I want it, \listoffigures is listing the subfloat captions under a wrong figure. Here is a demo script, in which this is happen...

I can't with TL 2016 on Linux, latest updates...

@ChristianHupfer Looks OK here too

@JosephWright MikTeX issue (unlikely, I think)? I can't test with MikTeX

@DavidCarlisle: what did you mean with your comment "this doesn't address the question at all with the definition as written"? (You commented it on tex.stackexchange.com/questions/349010/…

7:02 PM
@CarLaTeX My train is just 55 minutes late; just left Verona
@CarLaTeX Possibly somebody failed to pay the electricity bill

@egreg Usually someone steals the copper cables, ahahah!

7:43 PM
@Jan I mean that the answer just makes the same output as the code in the question without fixing the problem that the question was about. (on other sites on the network it would have had a massive negative score by now:-)
@Jan the question starts "I would like to align the checkboxes...."

yo'
8:16 PM
@CarLaTeX don't worry, happens here as well...

@yo' I thought it was only in Italy!

@UlrikeFischer try now:-) tex.stackexchange.com/a/349049

looks like an undocumented feature, I'll post later.... — David Carlisle 2 hours ago

@egreg true to my word I posted later

@DavidCarlisle The emphasis was on the “undocumented feature”. :P

9:33 PM
@egreg anyway it's now a documented non feature and fixed in the 2017/01/01 release

@DavidCarlisle AKA “bug fix”. :P

@egreg I wouldn't know. I think of it as "further adaptions to chase after Hans"

2 hours later…
11:27 PM
This is nice: \renewcommand\baselineskip{2\baselineskip} ;-)

@egreg To be fair, the concept and difference between all those different ways to use macros in (La)TeX is quite hard to grasp, especially as a beginner…

@Artemis Yes, but everybody should know about \linespread

@egreg well at least the 2 means it fills up the memory and stops
