yo'
7:18 AM
@PauloCereda And the carneval is this week, right? :)

yo'
7:34 AM
We will, for the first year, have an "Ash Blessing" service this Wednesday, and I'm going to keep the lent fasting.

@yo' You're dangerously near to becoming a catholic. ;-)

yo'
@egreg :)
Not really. I would never survive without Luther's Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott :D
Also, it's nice to be able to go crazy at the organ :)
@PauloCereda btw, I think I'm buying the Z3 Compact :-)
just tell me. The price in "anonymous" shops: €290. The price in renowned shops: €370. What to do?

8:02 AM
@yo' yeh it must be pancakes on Tuesday then!

@StefanKottwitz Nice one :-)
42 packages to update. Wow.

8:25 AM
@DavidCarlisle @JosephWright @egreg @UlrikeFischer @barbarabeeton l2tabu got an update, so the english version should be updated as well. Are there any things you consider a taboo that should be added to l2tabu and its english translation?

yo'
8:42 AM
@DavidCarlisle it will, maybe :)

@Johannes_B And what are the new contents in l2tabu? The author does not say anything what has been added :-(

@ChristianHupfer No idea. Only thing i can see is the addition of scrlayer-scrpage.

@Johannes_B: I have a personal addition to l2tabu: Don't use KOMA :-P

@ChristianHupfer l2tabu uses scrartcl ;-)

@Johannes_B: \ban l2tabu :D

8:47 AM
@ChristianHupfer nooooo :-)

@Johannes_B dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooch! :-P

9:01 AM
@Johannes_B I think it should add tabu :-) a faq along the lines of "l2tabu says tabu is taboo" would be good, don't you think?

@DavidCarlisle ?

@egreg Uh-oh. :)
@yo' Yep. :) It started in Friday. :)
@yo' Cool!

yo'
@PauloCereda the only bad thing: No integrated Qi, which means an external case => losing waterproofness. Or: Plugging every night => port cover going loose => losing waterproofness

@yo' What's Qi?

yo'
@PauloCereda wireless charging

9:06 AM
@yo' Ah.

yo'
@PauloCereda Like this built in into a nightstand: ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90291877
That's a big disappointment for me :(

@yo' Well, for me, I charge my Z2 once 4-5 days.

@yo' wireless charging? Really?

yo'
@Johannes_B yep. Really useful, you just put the phone on the night stand and when you regenerate, so does your phone :)
@PauloCereda the Z3 lasts 2 days :(

@yo' I thought this would be science fiction. I have a cable to charge my phone. Every two weeks is perfectly fine.

yo'
9:11 AM
@Johannes_B that's what I have now: charging c. after a week (I don't know, I don't really need to care)
but I more and more miss the smart features, so ...
also, all android phones are wifi hotspots and I pay for LTE, so why don't have LTE in both my phone and my notebook for one price :)

Q: What about ClassicThesis?

MarcauI am a student and I'm looking for a nice and enjoyable "layout" for writing my thesis (which is not so close: I'm forestalling). Now, I've read about ClassicThesis, and I gathered that this is a very good candidate. My questions for you are: Are there other styles which you would recommend, or C...

The question as stated isn't really good. Is it on-topic? Is it too broad? It could be duped to the dir-structure question.

yo'
@Johannes_B oh you gotta love the answers!

@yo' :-)
@yo' Yes, i really do :-(

yo'
It's bad for its answers, if not for the question itself.

@Johannes_B Personally I think it's opinion-based, but I don't feel it's so clear as to be 'mod action'

yo'
9:14 AM
I think I'm about to deliver some downvotes today, haven't done so in a while
btw, @egreg has to love the Q!

@yo' If it's not on my answers/questions it's fine for me :P
@PauloCereda Coin Coin: :)

yo'
@RomainPicot no, not quite

@RomainPicot quack quack!

@PauloCereda making me hungry

@JosephWright Are there other stylesrecommended ? Yes (opinion-based); Help udnerstanding how to use (too broad, read introduction); organize stuff in folders (opinion based) and where to put them (introduction needed). An answer to that question as posted would be insanely ...

9:19 AM
@DavidCarlisle Joseph has a duck as avatar too, and he technically nearer than me. :)

@yo' But you can upvote them :P
@PauloCereda <3

@RomainPicot <3

@PauloCereda By the way, what about your thesis? :P

@PauloCereda scraggy looking thing not worth cooking, if you ask me.

@RomainPicot Writing it as we speak. :)
@DavidCarlisle ooh

yo'
9:23 AM
@Johannes_B I answered. This is probably the first case when I answered a question I VTC'd at the same time; please excuse this misbehaviour, it is of a pure despair.

@yo' checking

yo'
@Johannes_B comments welcome of course.

@PauloCereda good my favorite duck :)

yo'
@PauloCereda is it in classicthesis? <3
ah the magnetic port on Z3 does not have a cover! Gotta get it now :)

\documentclass[%headinclude,footinclude
]{scrbook}
\usepackage{classicthesis}
%\usepackage{blindtext}
\usepackage{lipsum}
\begin{document}
%\blinddocument
\lipsum
\end{document}
@yo' ^^^^

yo'
9:29 AM
@Johannes_B no need to test it, I know this "feature" :)

@yo' Such a mess.

yo'
@Johannes_B well, falls under "is a class package"

@Johannes_B why isn't classicthesis a class anyway

yo'
@DavidCarlisle that's one of the points:
2
A: What about ClassicThesis?

yo'I have never understood the love for classicthesis. The design is ugly, both graphically and internally. It allows for certain (very limited and specific) modifications by default, any other changes are really painful. Just to mention a couple of the flaws: Exactly two fonts are preset (why?!), ...

@yo' oh yes that's what you said in your answer, I hadn't looked on site just saw the example code above:-)

9:33 AM
@DavidCarlisle "People interested only in the nice style and not the whole bundle can now use the style stand-alone via the file classicthesis.sty. This works now also with "plain" LaTeX.

@yo' nope. :P

yo'
@PauloCereda you'll fail then :P

9:48 AM
@DavidCarlisle Interestingly, this seems to be XeTeX-specific though I can't work out exactly how to get LuaTeX to read the various \Umath... things without all of luaotfload (the bar placement is the same in both cases but neither has \Umathradicalrule with the 'simple hack' loader)
@DavidCarlisle Probably for the moment I won't worry about that :-) The idea isn't to get 'everything right', it's to make sure we can at least switch into math mode without an error. There are lots of parameters that really need to be set: one for the team meeting!

yo'
10:07 AM
\textbf{Definition 1} [\cite{book:Zexiang}]: A
@egreg ^^

@JosephWright yes agreed, also I notice quite different handling between luatex and xetex anyway (eg double accents \hat{\hat{f}} work in one and not the other (without the ams double accent hacks)

yo'
The six initial poses are given by
\begin{center}
	\begin{tabular}{ccc}
		$p_1=(0,0,0)$, & $p_2=(5,3,0)$,\\
		$p_3=(-1,6,\pi/6)$, &
		$p_4=(6,-5,-\pi/2)$, \\
		$p_5=(0,-5,\pi/3)$, & $p_3=(-5,-4,-\pi/2)$.
	\end{tabular}
\end{center}
and the desired formation
@egreg ^^

@ChristianHupfer I just saw that question with the paid template. What the heck?

@Johannes_B don't mention the war that question ;-)

@ChristianHupfer By the way, if somebody implements the CD of a university or a company, i think paying for it is perfectly fine.

10:18 AM
@Johannes_B Perhaps, but that's another topic, isn't it?

@ChristianHupfer Yes.
@ChristianHupfer I voted to close as unclear.

@PauloCereda I have the fix: after loading newfloat add the line \makeatletter\g@addto@macro\newfloat@list{\@elt{algorithm}}\makeatother so each \chapter command will write \addvspace{10\p@} also in the .loa file.

@Johannes_B Hasn't it been closed and reopened already?

@ChristianHupfer Really?

@yo' Very nice examples!

10:22 AM
@egreg Oh my! You are a genius! <3
@egreg: thank you very, very, very much! <3

yo'
@egreg yeah, there are more in the paper. Basically, the author knows two math environments: \[...\] and array. Everything is built of them: matrices, cases, eqnarray, multiline equations, ...

@Johannes_B No, wait. The O.P. posted the same rubbish question twice. The first one was closed etc., I believe

@ChristianHupfer Indeed, reopened by @Werner.

@PauloCereda Let me say the format is not what I'd use for a document of mine. ;-)

@egreg I know. :) But I have no choice, sadly. ABNT! /shakes fist

10:26 AM
@Johannes_B VTC too

@egreg: you know that Lucida seems to greatly improve the output? I am quite impressed and not so depressed of using ABNT stuff. :)

Hello, how to do to give a name to this: $$\begin{cases} -\Delta_{\Phi}u+\phi(|u|)u= f(u)~\text{in}~\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u>0~\text{in}~ \mathbb{R}^N\\u\in W^{1,\Phi}(\mathbb{R}^N)\end{cases}$$
i want to name it $(P_{\infty})$

@Vrouvrou I have a name: don't_use_$$ ;-)

@ChristianHupfer i don't understand

@Vrouvrou Don't use $$ for display math, use \[....\] instead. $$ is deprecated syntax

10:30 AM
[\begin{cases} -\Delta_{\Phi}u+\phi(|u|)u= f(u)~\text{in}~\mathbb{R}^N,\\ u>0~\text{in}~ \mathbb{R}^N\\u\in W^{1,\Phi}(\mathbb{R}^N)\end{cases}] like this ?
how to give the name
?

@Vrouvrou No, [.... ] ... and the name depends on the topic, I would say

@Vrouvrou Please use markup also in chat.

@JosephWright did you mean to include a link to a doodle poll?

@Johannes_B what ?

@PauloCereda I'd never say that!

10:33 AM
@Vrouvrou Compare \pi \times \sqrt{\i} with \pi \times \sqrt{\i}

@DavidCarlisle You are a genius too!

@ChristianHupfer \documentclass[11pt,dvips,twoside,letterpaper]{article}
\usepackage[usenames]{color}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage{fancyhdr}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{geometry}

\RequirePackage{amsfonts,amssymb,amsmath,amscd,amsthm}
\RequirePackage{txfonts}
\RequirePackage{graphicx}
\RequirePackage{xcolor}

\def\figurename{Figure}
\makeatletter
\renewcommand{\fnum@figure}[1]{\figurename~\thefigure.}
\makeatother

\def\tablename{Table}
\makeatletter
\renewcommand{\fnum@table}[1]{\tablename~\thetable.}

@PauloCereda I'd never say that either!

@DavidCarlisle <3

@Vrouvrou why is your preamble like that!!!

10:36 AM
@DavidCarlisle :-D

@DavidCarlisle Should have gone to the list but I'll resend

@PauloCereda A different fix would be to redefine the algorithm float using newfloat features (but of course you lose the rules typical of the algorithm package)
\let\algorithm\relax
\let\endalgorithm\relax
\expandafter\let\csname algorithm*\endcsname\relax
\expandafter\let\csname endalgorithm*\endcsname\relax
\DeclareFloatingEnvironment[
  listname={Lista de Algoritmos},
  fileext=loa,
  name=Algoritmo,
  within=none,
  chapterlistsgaps=on,
]{algorithm}
\makeatletter
\renewcommand\listofalgorithms{\newfloat@listof{algorithm}}
\makeatother
@PauloCereda The code should go after \usepackage{newfloat} (and after \usepackage{algorithm}, of course) and replace the other fixes. Take your pick.

@Vrouvrou you load almost all the packages twice so it is twice as long as it need be, and force dvips options everywhere so the document can't be used with pdflatex? and load geometry package but then set the page dimensions by hand.

@DavidCarlisle There are some specials in there :-)

@DavidCarlisle i use pdflatex
@DavidCarlisle How i cn chage it ?

10:41 AM
@Vrouvrou well why does your document explicitly use options saying you don't!!!!! Don't you see these warnings every time?:
Package epstopdf Warning: Drivers other than `pdftex.def' are not supported.

)
*geometry* detected driver: dvips

Yes

@Vrouvrou as I haven't seen any of your document I'd suggest just starting \documentclass[11pt,a4paper]{article}\begin{document} and then just add lines to the preamble if you need them.

But i don't know what i must added

@Vrouvrou They are saying to fix your preamble before even thinking of looking at any typeset output from the docuemnt.
@Vrouvrou better to add nothing than add multiple lines of code that breaks your document.

@egreg Thank you.<3

10:51 AM
@egreg One for you latex-community.org/forum/…

Is the CTAN package database accessible (readonly) from outside with MySQL?

@Vrouvrou in case you don't want to follow my (excellent!!!) advice of starting from an empty preamble, at a minimum delete the dvips option and the \special commands, so that your document has a chance of working correctly with pdftex.
@ChristianHupfer it's not that kind of database as far as I know.

i try to do some thing
@DavidCarlisle

@DavidCarlisle That's bad/sad. I think I should ask Petra etc. directly, perhaps there's a way? Or ask a question? (But that would be more or less off-topic, I fear)

@ChristianHupfer but no the data isn't readable partly as it has email addresses and other data that is not public.
@ChristianHupfer certainly it used to be a collection of xml files, I'm not sure quite how they store it these days

10:58 AM
@DavidCarlisle Well, I just wanted to have a quick overview who wrote which package/class (and perhaps, the package version etc.)
@DavidCarlisle Hm, xml ... too modern for me :-)

@Johannes_B The warning is cured by adding \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}, of course. For the error, it's a syntax error for skak which I know nothing about.
@Johannes_B In the file there's a hilarious \tt \bf

@ChristianHupfer you can do some queries as described here

@egreg Me too. Gotta look into this later. Now: Fischstäbchen

@ChristianHupfer you can get JSON if XML is too old a format for you.

11:06 AM
@Johannes_B @DavidCarlisle: Thanks to you both ! I'll give them a try

@ChristianHupfer Better not try what i have linked.

@Johannes_B I can have a look on it anyway ;-)

@egreg I like the paragraph spacing in that skak.tex :-)

Math friends, I know it's a matter of me defining the symbol I want, but by chance do you have any suggestions on a nice symbol to indicate concatenation?

1:40 PM
@PauloCereda "+" as in Python?

@RomainPicot No, I wanted another symbol, just to not mix types. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda \circ

@yo' ooh I like it! Thanks!

@PauloCereda: \oplus like for vector spaces? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer too much complicated. :)

yo'
1:41 PM
@PauloCereda you're welcome :)

@PauloCereda Oh :(

@PauloCereda vector spaces? ;-)

@RomainPicot Since I am using untyped lambda calculus, I would like to use a different operator, that's all. :)

yo'
@Paulo of course, the right answer is that concatenation is the multiplication in the monoid of words, so you don't need any symbol at all :-)

@Romain: coin coin!

1:42 PM
@PauloCereda Sometimes \mathbin{\&} is used

@yo' o.O

@PauloCereda Quack ! :)

@egreg ooh!
@yo' I wonder if I say that during a keynote will make me look smart, but the plan might backfire if someone contests that... :)

yo'
@egreg which sometimes means logical and. The message is: Make it clear (a list of symbols is deemed helpful)

@yo' Of course, \newcommand{\concat}{whatever} is the way to go.

yo'
1:44 PM
@PauloCereda well, you don't need that argument to justify yourself, do you? :)
@egreg yeah, for things that are not a fixed notation, certainly.

@PauloCereda be modern trendy Brazilian use .. like Lua.

@yo' ooh
@DavidCarlisle <3

2:20 PM
Regarding trivial questions which have already been asked and answered (many times) before, I'll obviously flag it as a duplicate, but should I also post the one-line answer? Or should that be in the comments?

@JP-Ellis comment or just close if the answer there obviously answers the question without "translation"

@DavidCarlisle Cool thanks, I'll just give a quick comment and flag then :) I don't (yet) have the privilege to close questions...

@Johannes_B Well, Chebyshev is spelled wrong. ;-)

@egreg :-)

yo'
@egreg oh no, not again :) Do you mean Tchebycheff, right? :)

2:31 PM
@yo' There are three f's at the end. :P

yo'
@egreg Tchebychef$^{+}$

@yo' LOL
Who was this bloke?
I am eating donuts. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda THC donuts?

@yo' Чебышёв ?

@PauloCereda Some Russian dude with a cool beard :D
Pafnuty Lvovich Chebyshev (Russian: Пафну́тий Льво́вич Чебышёв; IPA: [pɐfˈnutʲɪj ˈlʲvovʲɪtɕ tɕɪbɨˈʂof]) (May 16 [O.S. May 4] 1821 – December 8 [O.S. November 26] 1894) was a Russian mathematician. His name can be alternatively transliterated as Chebychev, Chebysheff, Chebyshov; or Tchebychev, Tchebycheff (French transcriptions); or Tschebyschev, Tschebyschef, Tschebyscheff (German transcriptions). == Biography == One of nine children, Chebyshev was born in the central Russian village of Akatovo near Borovsk, to Agrafena Ivanova Pozniakova and Lev Pavlovich Chebyshev. His father had fought as an...

2:44 PM
@yo' the collider thingy? :)
@BMWurm ooh I like this description.

yo'
@PauloCereda :) you seem to be upside down, messing T and L :)
Oh an upside-down duck that can read and play cricket! <3

@yo' oooh sorry
@yo' <3

yo'
going to see my GSM provider and negotiate for discounts. See you later!

I was reading one of Don't interviews yesterday (a nice book about Don's suspicions on P=NP). Somewhere in the book, he said some conference was not a success because there weren't enough Germans. :)
@yo' See ya, Tom!

3:04 PM

@ChristianHupfer Not sure i should click on that link.
@ChristianHupfer You know i have a high blood pressure, do you? Bombarding me with a template question does not add to my health score.
@ChristianHupfer Commented.

3:35 PM
@Johannes_B I do know but not before. Please state this explicitly in your profile!

@ChristianHupfer :-)

@Johannes_B: You commented ... well, a bunch of comments ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Freaking templates

@Johannes_B I've got a recommendation: Don't use them :-P

@ChristianHupfer But @Ulrike nicely put into a comment, what i was also thinking.

3:44 PM
@Johannes_B Yes, apparently it's a lazy bloke that tries to get the merits ;-)

@ChristianHupfer I think that putting name and hometown huge and boldface and the title Large and in small caps looks strange.
@ChristianHupfer Work for you: latex-community.org/forum/…
You are the only expert i know.

@Johannes_B Is it on counters? Then count on me ;-)

@ChristianHupfer No :-p
@ChristianHupfer The famous Le Grand Orange Book.

@Johannes_B And by which madness did you come to the conclusion I can answer this Grand Orange madness Book?
@Johannes_B: File `' not found. \tableofcontents??? Wtf??

@ChristianHupfer I guess a crumbled linebreak. If \chapterimage is empty you basically get \includegraphics{}.

4:01 PM
@Johannes_B \chapterimage is defining \thechapterimage, which is empty then, of course, if \chapterimage is never used. Now \thechapterimage is used a lot of times as being the argument ot \includegraphics -- rubbish definition

@ChristianHupfer Not my task to take care of this. not my task. not my task. I have writing access to the dev repositories, but not my task. not my task.

@Johannes_B: I'll try to fix the structure.tex locally (at least for this issue)

@ChristianHupfer Very good.

4:28 PM
@Johannes_B done

@ChristianHupfer Nice, thank you. How about an addition to the official template?
I think a switch was needed badly.
Of course, with attribution if you want.
Bin erst mal weg.

@Johannes_B I'll think about it

1 hour later…
yo'
5:37 PM
GSM providers are so ... (looking for a non-vulgar word)

@yo' I guess you mean mobile phone operators (most people are on LTE nowadays)

yo'
@JosephWright yeah, that's what I mean.
after 30 minutes of discussion it turned out that their CZK 499 (about EUR 19) is actually CZK 749 (about EUR 28)
so I'll likely end with paying EUR 38 for the cell phone. That's just unbelievable. In France, you get more for EUR 20 :-(

6:02 PM
@yo' That's the phone itself or the monthly cost?

yo'
@JosephWright the monthly cost. There's no "phone discounts with tariffs" here, so I'll first have to buy the phone for the retail price.

@yo' Ah, right, so what's I'd think of as 'SIM-only' (I've got a SIM-only as I don't really like the entire cross-subsidy thing)

yo'
@JosephWright SIM-only would be the word, yeah
now I gotta go, the scout business meeting starts in 10 minutes, and I'm still sipping my coffee in a salon de thé

@yo' I pay about 7 €/month :-) 100 mins, 300 texts, 100 Mb of data (no smart phone)

yo'
@JosephWright yeah, that's the difference, I pay now €6 for some good calls and SMS deal, and €18 for 20GB data. And the MF idiots are not willing to join it to a single number. So I'll either have to pay more, or forget about a neat smartphone :-(
ok, see you later!

6:07 PM
@JosephWright Do you guys gave prepaid stuff for cellphones?

@PauloCereda Technically mine is: I'm not on a credit contract, I have a pay-as-you-go (prepaid) phone but they also do a 'bundle' deal

@JosephWright I see.

@PauloCereda I pay £5 a month for the bits and pieces I mentioned, and have to have pre-paid credit for anything else

@JosephWright Ah.

yo'
@PauloCereda well, I pay €6 a month, get some free minutes and then I pay after the month the extras (mostly international calls)

6:11 PM
@yo' Oh I see.

@yo', @PauloCereda 20 Gb/month would be £20 (€26): giffgaff.com/goodybags (Or rather it's 'always on')

@JosephWright Plans look cheap.

@PauloCereda Yes, all SIM-only so you have to pay for the phone up-front

@DavidCarlisle: do you have these fancy dancy cool 4G plans too? :)

@PauloCereda not that there is any 4G coverage in these parts. But as of last week I do have a fibre optic cable to the house!
@PauloCereda phone I pay about £10 pound a month which includes more data and minutes than I use, can't remember how much really:-)

6:22 PM
@DavidCarlisle ooooh

@PauloCereda The fibre connects my house to a hole at the end of the village. internet connection still uses the coper wire strung between poles, so not noticed any great difference so far.

@DavidCarlisle Oh. :)
@David: does M have a Steam account?

@PauloCereda no

Speaking of which, I have no friends in Steam. /pokes @JosephWright
@DavidCarlisle oh. :(

@PauloCereda don't know what it is, one of his cousins said something about it when we saw them at christmas I think.

6:31 PM
@DavidCarlisle It's an online gameplay framework where you can buy games and get bankrupt. :)

@PauloCereda @yo' I have a pre-paid thingy. But my last EUR 15 worth code at the end of september with only a few cents left. I just checked, still Eur 2.89 on the card.

@PauloCereda sounds like not having an account is good. he did get a minecraft mod maker program thing the other day, kind of interesting really it's a graphical thing that lets you design new blocks and assign actions and things to them but then you can get it to show you the generated java code for the mod then it packages it up as a jar and it works.

@DavidCarlisle How nice!
@egreg: do you have a Steam account? :)

@PauloCereda No, but I'm waiting for my glass of wine.

@egreg ooh even better. :)

6:37 PM
@PauloCereda Just opened a new bottle!

@egreg Valpolicella?

@PauloCereda minecraft is scarier now as it seems most mods get distributed as ms self installing exe files when it was a matter of dropping a .jar in a .minecraft/mod directory it seemed relatively safe but downloading a exe from some random add-laden addfly wiki page and being told to run the file seems... dangerous.

@PauloCereda Berlucchi (sparkling)

@DavidCarlisle Really? It's been a while since I played. Even then, I have it on my Mac, so I believe it's mostly Java. I once heard a good thing to have is something called FTB (Feed The Beast).
@egreg Wow, this wine is insanely pricey around here!

@PauloCereda They treat us very well.

6:42 PM
@PauloCereda well the company got bought by you-know-who and seems that things moved to "simplified" one click install, I haven't played in ages (not got it on this machine) but M does ask if it's OK to install things and last couple he's found I had really no confidence in the files at all. It's still all java really so all the exe is probably doing is unpacking itself into the right place, but it seems a lot to expect people to trust that's really what it's going to do:(

@egreg "Sorry for being late, here's our best reserve while we play an Aria in the background, have fun!
@DavidCarlisle Indeed.

@PauloCereda Just seven minutes late; nothing to worry about. ;-)

@egreg Bah. :)
@DavidCarlisle: Question! How does an Englishman say France? I mean, the Fran part. Is is similar to fen in fence or more like run in grunt?
Coin coin fait le canard!

@egreg LOL I was expecting something along these lines. :D

7:10 PM
@PauloCereda I spared @DavidCarlisle these silly grammatical questions.

7:22 PM
@PauloCereda like "an" not "en"

@PauloCereda I sent a request ...

@Johannes_B Thanks for the comments (tex.stackexchange.com/questions/291156/…).
@Johannes_B It's ok if people think, that the question in too broad. I still think that there are general recommendations that can be helpful, like use amsmath instead of the default LaTeX environments. Or use geometry to change the page layout instead of the pure LaTeX codes.
@Johannes_B I am not online so often - so please dob't consider it unpolite if it takes a while to reply.

@Alenanno seems that whoever it was, Thor's @egreg's hammer has spoken now.

@yo' I have a gold badge, after all! Which @DavidCarlisle still lacks.

@egreg it as well deserved as your other badges.

@DavidCarlisle Sometimes you even speak the truth. Because my badges are well deserved.

@egreg the edit somewhat spoiled the comment above

A: How to use lettrine in Cyrillic?

egregI see no problem in using lettrine also with pdflatex: \documentclass{article} \usepackage[T2A]{fontenc} \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage[russian]{babel} \usepackage{lettrine} \begin{document} \lettrine{К}{}ак и любой читатель, преданный может ясно видеть, идеал практический разум явля...

@egreg upvoted. :)

@PauloCereda You surely recognize Kant's immortal words
As any dedicated reader can clearly see, the Ideal of
practical reason is a representation of, as far as I know, the things
in themselves; as I have shown elsewhere, the phenomena should only be
used as a canon for our understanding. The paralogisms of practical
reason are what first give rise to the architectonic of practical
reason. As will easily be shown in the next section, reason would
thereby be made to contradict, in view of these considerations, the
Ideal of practical reason, yet the manifold depends on the phenomena.

@egreg I always remember the philosophers song from Monty Python. :)

@egreg: I once saw something very curious that almost make copy your Kant code logic into a new package: there was this comedian in the late 80's from a group named Os trapalhões; he used to end words with the is suffix. He was very funny. I once saw a lispum generator online based on his discourse. :)
@DavidCarlisle uh-oh!

@ChristianHupfer "this is in fact (much, much, much) easier with tcolorbox" easier than the OP's code but more complicated than mine:-)

@DavidCarlisle Of course it is ;-)
@DavidCarlisle But your text has the wrong alignment ;-)

@ChristianHupfer why would you right align a name?

11:29 PM
@DavidCarlisle I personally wouldn't but I don't smoke as well, but people do smoke, because it's their decision ;-)

@ChristianHupfer but I couldn't tell any alignment from the question oh it says he wanted centred (lucky to get any text out at all) But I left a comment on how to change the alignment:-)

@DavidCarlisle: Yes, you're right, i missed the center alignment as you have ;-)

11:57 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'm not sure we're understanding each other: the OP needs something like blockarray because of the headers above the columns. Highlighting the column succeeds, but the problem is that the delimiters are too short.

@egreg as i say that wasn't clear from the question, if he asks for that i'd just put the headers back with a hidden row or tikz or some such. If you want to edit blkarray to modify the delimiter scaling you are welcome to it:-)
