@jaberg Just wanted to tell you that my earbuds have now lost the sound in the right earbud. Not very happy, as I treated them better than my Apple earbuds...but I have to say, I love their warranty claims and am still happy with my purchase even if they aren't working right now.
I am a bit annoyed that they are not working, but I'm getting a new pair shipped now, so that makes up for it all

2:35 PM
@daviesgeek What models? Was support good to work with?

2:47 PM
@oldpro - is this still an issue?

Q: How do I get podcasts downloaded directly to my iPhone and iPad to match the ones on my Mac?

Old ProBackground I have a podcast subscription on my Mac. For example, Marketplace. It's a daily podcast, and I often get them by downloading them to the Mac (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) with iTunes (currently 10.6.1 but has happened for a long time) and syncing to my iPhone. However, sometimes I forget, ...

I'm tempted to bug some of the developers at APM if you still have a test case that breaks.

Things I (re)learned today:
The time you save by commuting to work on a motorbike, is more than lost through the time it takes to get all your gear on and off at each end.

@stuffe heh heh - it sure seems that way some time.
On balance, my smiles per mile and attitude both at work and after are so much better when I commute on less wheels.
New Topic: Has anyone had the iTunes music store be responsive to them in the last 20 hours or so?
On iTunes on a computer it works as expected, but on iOS, I can't do much but search for a track and preview the top hit. Once I go into an album view - it stalls for minutes and then crashes the app...
I'm wondering if it's somehow my account or an iOS store wide issue. It doesn't matter if I'm on an iPad or iPhone, WiFi or 3G/4G/LTE - they all are stalling the app (you can't scroll, tap, it just spins the indeterminate progress round chicklet icon and never recovers)

Fine in the UK store
@bmike Indeed, can't wait to gear up in an hours or so and do the return journey, even if it will take me 10 minutes to strap up.

Thanks for checking. These 0x8badf00d exceptions are hard to diagnose for me. MobileStore[pid] has active assertions beyond permitted time...
@stuffe Also - insane speeds on Isle of Man this week. kottke.org/12/05/…

Yeah, that frightens the life out of me. People die every year
It's a small island, and those are not your big American highways, they are country lanes that are often not even a proper 2 car width...

3:03 PM
@stuffe Like 240 deaths in practice and race days in a hundred or so years.

Are those the actual stats? Yeah, like that, probably safer these days, but still every year - the scary thing is anyone can enter, even me...
Although if I did, you can be sure there would be 1 more to chalk up to the stats...

Those bikes that crest a rise, catch air, land rear wheel first and then do the wobble give me the cringes the most. (and the bodies flying through the air like a rag doll just make me shut my eyes)

3:16 PM
I'll stick to 4 wheels for going fast. I bought my bike as my 2 seater open top car replacement. Then I got another 2 seater open top! I'm the worlds most careful biker

@stuffe Pix of the 2 seater? Some day, I'll have one and a nice garage in the west to ride through the mountains / high desert in all manner of old motor vehicles :-)

@bmike This might not work as it's from facebook

3:51 PM
@stuffe Thanks! You're right - I'm not on FB, but I'll watch twitter

4:02 PM
@bmike JBuds J3. Recommended by jaberg. Support was great to work with. The earbuds come with a 1 year limited warranty that is so easy to claim.

@daviesgeek Awesome - jlabs seems like a good company

@stuffe Seriously - you have one of those!

4:19 PM
The one in front, not the Ford GT behind!
Oh, wrong picture for that.
Yeah, had one back in 2001 or so, loved it to death (literall death, engine failure), and when it had to go back I bought an awful ford banger and a motorbike instead

@stuffe Oh man - tweet a link to the manufacturer please. I NEED TO GET ON ONE OF THOSE. I know some sweet roads out west that demand a visit from wheels like that.

Then, through a weird set of circumstances I came into enough money for another in 2007, and so bough the exact same model which was 10 years old or so by then, so affordable.
It's an original model 1 Lotus Elise.
This would be the current model, but it's not quite the same car as the original.

@stuffe I was afraid it was that pricey. You and @wilshipley and your lotus sexycars

And it's nothing like the one you guys get over in the States, which had the soul driven out of it with safety features and emissions regulations...
It was £10k when I bought it, so say $15k at the time - not so bad, my current Kia family mobile cost more

@stuffe Well - when I can afford one, I don't think I'll have problems unleashing the beast within

4:28 PM
I could bore you all for hours about it, but instead I am going to tog up and get on the bike - looks like rain...
homewards bound!

@bmike Yes. It is from what I've seen of it
I forgot to mention that the bass is definitely louder than the standard Apple ones
But it's not muddy
Classical music sounds great on it.

Road legal here is a bit of a downer - even with some of the car startups we have
@stuffe ride well, rubber side down.
I'll dream of finding a spare $25k tomorrow and a motorcycle trip to Portland, OR to get this... cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-Lotus-Elise-Roadster-NO-RESERVE-/…

2 hours later…
6:44 PM
@bmike, yes, still having the podcast issues.

@stuffe right-click, "copy image URL".

@stuffe daringfireball.net/2012/05/about_the_talk_show Perhaps a day late and a dollar short, but there you go...

7:03 PM
@DanielLawson Who's his co-host?

7:54 PM
@daviesgeek Changes each episode

8:13 PM
Does jailbreaking unlock an iPhone?

in the same step? I don't believe so
I think it depends on the jb utility you use
things like ${color}sn0w do
but the iPhone Dev Team pwnage tools only JB it, the sn0w utils can of course be run much easier after having done so.

8:30 PM
@Jason, what about Absinthe?

Never heard of it in this context.

9:15 PM
@OldPro OK - I'll bug them - no idea if I'll get through to the proper person, but worth a shot.
@Moshe No - you can't do an unauthorized unlock without a jailbreak.
Think of it like this - jailbreak opens the door, unlock makes off with the goods.

9:30 PM
@Bmike but can I unlock after a jailbreak?
As in, can I jailbreak, then unlock, without paying money for an unlock code?

@Moshe There is no unlock code for iPhones.
They ask Apple (or whatever database apple points them at) to tell if the phone in question is an authorized unlock. If yes, then the phone will accept any SIM card.
Every jailbreak and unlock that I've seen is unpaid and works by circumventing this normal check process.
the jailbreak lets you run code not signed by apple

Ugh, I think I'm deadlocking iTunes
It's running at 300% CPU perpetually.
I'm sure if I close it it won't, and I don't want to Force Quit it
asdlgjalkejglakwjeg

@JasonSalaz ouch - sample and kill ;-)

10:00 PM
@bmike sampled, now what? :P

"Urgent" question from last October now has a canonical answer. macworld.com/article/1166996/… ... The S in iPhone 4S stands for Siri.
Now we can sleep at night.

10:48 PM
@DanielLawson Phew - was really getting exhausted ;-)
2
@JasonSalaz bugreport? or post so we can laugh at iTunes

11:18 PM
@DanielLawson I'll have to find it.
