Hello! :D

1:02 AM
@StevenVascellaro G'Day Steven. :) Can I help with anything?

Is it possible to get notifications from SE chat without keeping the window open?

If someone pings you with @StevenVascellaro then you should get a notification like you would for any comment on the site. Otherwise you'd probably need to have the chat window open. (I'm not 100% sure, as I've only recently started being active within chat).

Ah. Ok
Can they ping me in any chat? Or only ones I've joined

From within any chat. Refer to chat.stackexchange.com/faq
You may also find the info there about sound triggers of interest.

@StevenVascellaro Only ones you're currently in or have posted in recently. Mods can superping, meaning you don't have to have been in the room to receive a notification, but this is rare — in general only rooms you're participating in. (cc @Monomeeth)
@Monomeeth That would be helpful! I guess I could have a look at Data.SE to see if there's a better way of finding the posts, but a place to start would be to use site search to search for i.stack.imgur.com and find places where the automated system hasn't fixed them due to the way we embed Retina images.
@Monomeeth Here's the crowdcrafting project which SE set up and fed the data dump into to find posts across the entirety of SE if you want to help in general, and earn some rep on some other sites! (I haven't participated in this at all)

@grgarside Is is possible to make myself globally pingable without manually joining every single chat?
I'd like people to be able to contact me easily

3:53 PM
@StevenVascellaro This isn't possible currently as it would clutter many chat rooms. For reference, you can see if someone is pingable in the chat by typing @ then a couple of characters — if their name doesn't autocomplete then they cannot be pinged in that chat.
@StevenVascellaro The best way to do this is to add a link to your most frequented chat to your profile page (potentially like mine) so that people know where to find you.

@grgarside Fair enough. Thanks!
