I'm not sure if any moderators read this, but I'd like to suggest adding books to all of the tag wikis, there's no books here, ux.stackexchange.com/tags/gui-design/info , but there are good books on the subject; I tried to edit one in but my edit got rejected. The book lists really help on the SO tags, IMO it would help here too.
e.g., Stack Overflow has books on the C# tag stackoverflow.com/tags/c%23/info , it gives people basic information about questions they can't ask like "what's a good book for X"
I mean, if you guys had better books than the one I suggested in mind, I understand, I just hope somebody adds them
Here's some other ideas if you're interested, "Don't make me think": amzn.com/0321965515 , "The Design of Everyday Things": amzn.com/0465050654 , "Emotional Design": amzn.com/0465051367 . Mostly the first one though.

@jrh It's a challenging topic, and not quite the same as StackOverflow. SO deals with pretty much any programming topic, and so they are listing the books within a tag because that tag is more like a section. Whereas UX is (arguably) is a narrower site than SO.
So, would it be helpful to have a list of useful UX books on the site? Yes. But would it keep to the "Question and Answer" model of the site? No.
I wouldn't be against having a section on books, but it would need the approval of the Stack Exchange team, not the mods to do that. And it would raise many questions about how various issues are handled, which may add more complexity and confusion than the benefits that they bring.
However, it's a valid question and something that you should ask on meta.ux.stackexchange.com
