10:00 PM
@Asaf, @Strivatsan, could I ask you to reconsider your close votes here? I don't think the supposed "original" is asking the same question.

10:11 PM
@Henning, In case this is reopened, will it be ok to edit the title at least?
It seems like the OP has steered the question away from the original after it was pointed out. (I voted kind of early -- before the OP's clarification.) I will vote to reopen.

@Matt It works if the \mu_n are increasing, but we need something like \mu_1(E)<\infty if the \mu_n are decreasing.

It is interesting that I posted this answer before the rest, and it says the same thing as most of them, yet the others have gotten upvoted and accepted. It may be that I used a different notation.
@JonasTeuwen can you add any kind of stain? E.g. jelly doughnut?

@JonasTeuwen Aw, cute cat...

@Srivatsan a cat presents the possibility of other forms of document destruction that need to be simulated :-)
Actually, I am wrong, none have gotten upvotes, but one was accepted. I thought I saw an upvote, but it was either retracted or I was hallucinating.

I guess it's just that your answer is pithier.

I find the whole meta thread by iyegnar amusing.

10:33 PM
@AsafKaragila I see no iyegnar...

Q: Frustrating Down-votes

iyengarI have been facing lot of trouble with the down-vote system, in the past people used to down-vote me as my english was poor, but from last two months I have been taking much care in formatting questions and asking them in a good manner, but I don't understand why did I get down-votes still withou...

Oh, he was pointing out the typo in iyengar's name, Asaf.

I am pointing out the arak.

@Srivatsan I have no objection to editing the title.
(From a narrow perspective of self-interest I should probably be happy with the question staying closed. It will prevent new answers to compete with my +16/-2 one).

@Srivatsan: I see that you are disgruntled about receiving stars recently. Shall I remove them? :-)

10:37 PM
@AsafKaragila No problem, @Asaf.
I was semi-disgruntled, semi-amused actually.

I figured as much.

(I guess I am also just bitter with myself for making so many mistakes =))

@Henning, @robjohn: Should I unstar Srivatsan's starred messages?

@HenningMakholm Thanks. Let me see if I can come up with a better title.
@AsafKaragila Actually, I kind of like the "Why would someone star that? :-/" comment. Shows a bit of irony...

Tire irons are often ironic.

10:49 PM
@AsafKaragila If you wish.

@AsafKaragila They're not my stars -- but if you ask me anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing those comments disappear from the star bar; they're not particularly funny. OTOH, removing the stars on that basis might set an eventually time-consuming precedent. You don't want to end up vouching for all stars you happen to not remove.

Oh, I don't wish to remove them.
Just wanted to consult the frequent beard-loving people of the chat.
I think my fingers sometimes type faster than they move.

Mmmm.. I had some delicious raisin pumpernickel yesterday.
Oh, beard, not bread... :-)

I hate raisins. God how much I hate them.

@robjohn Sounds delicious.

10:52 PM
@AsafKaragila Oh, I love raisins. I'll have yours... (Monty Python rephrase)
@Srivatsan That and some luscious prime rib... mmmm

@robjohn Well, only I am not having raisins raisins egg and raisins.

@Srivatsan Thanks.

Raisins are delicious and a true gift to mankind, but it's a vile affront to both raisinhood and bread to mix them into dough.
@JM No response from flagging. I've started a meta thread.

@HenningMakholm Sorry, I love my cinnamon-raisin english muffins. I don't count it as an affront.
@AsafKaragila I might draw the line at raisins and eggs.

@robjohn What about spam and bacon and eggs and spam?

11:03 PM
That might be acceptable :-)

What about spam spam spam spam spam spam eggs spam spam spam spam spam and spam and peas.

listening for Viking song

11:19 PM
Hurry up, boys! // (Read the first two lines of the question.)

Although, the OP is not really asking us to hurry. He is in some sort of a deadline, I guess...

I assume that και means "and"?

I suppose so

@robjohn Google thinks it's Greek.

11:24 PM
Google Translate agrees
It is in Greek characters.

oh, cool

@robjohn Oh, you're right. After seeing the Greek letters as rendered by TeX, I couldn't quite make out. =/

WTF I get a Hebrew letter Captcha!
@robjohn Probably extendable :-).

@JonasTeuwen where do you get that?

I got an ae thingie.

11:35 PM
@JonasTeuwen Perhaps an attempt to filter out the true set theorists from the fake ones. =)

@AsafKaragila æ?

Yes. That letter that I don't have on my keyboard.

Neither do I.

œ is alt-q on a mac

œ and æ are different characters.

11:37 PM
א is t on Hebrew qwerty layout.

I know, I was just looking for the ligatures æ is alt-'

[Testing =)]

æ is at AltGr+e on my keyboard. There's no œ.

Tœplitz?

Aßaf.
rœjœhn?

11:43 PM
לכו לעזאזל! :-)

@JonasTeuwen I've lost my 'b'

@robjohn rœbjœhn?

Wow, I've answered 5 questions today and gotten 3 upvotes total and one upvote for an old answer. I'm doing something wrong today.
@JonasTeuwen I guess. But Tœplitz was intended for Toeplitz.

@robjohn I have a lot of upvotes to give you. 3 if I remember right.

@robjohn Ah, our lovely Toeplitz operators. Let me check out your answers!

11:49 PM
It's that the OPs are absent today probably.
Black Friday takes its toll.
However, @Henning sort of disproves that.

@robjohn Feel better now? :-) (I have upvoted all the nice answers in those topics, not just yours).

He has capped today.
@JonasTeuwen thanks. I am wondering why some days seem to bleed points and others they are like blood from stones.

Well, for me it is usually the second :-).

@robjohn For only the second time in two weeks. Verily, upvotes do not appear to follow a Poisson distribution.

Also I feel upvotes beget more upvotes, so you pray you start off well... :)

11:54 PM
@HenningMakholm It has been perhaps two weeks since I've capped. Too busy at work.
@Srivatsan that seems to be accurate.

It would certainly explain how some apparently unremarkable answers suddenly cash out big.

@HenningMakholm I have seen some run-of-the-mill answers get 30+ upvotes (at least 10 of which are wasted).
other than to express support :-)
@HenningMakholm Not that any of your answers are run-of-the-mill :-)

Oh, I can point to a few. Hows about this?

Ooh, I just found out that clicking on a bar in the reputation graph brings up the reputation history for that day!
