11:00 PM
Of course I took it out of the bag! What am I, a nincompoop?? :-)

Some people package the catnip in a teabag-like thing. Cheesecloth, something like that.
usually you can smell it from there.

Nah, it was a plain plastic bag. Like the one they sell cocaine and heroin in movies ;-)

In that case, sorry for sounding impertinent. Anyway... just to check, how about having your gal smell the thing?

I crushed a bit in my fingers, smells like some sort of mint...
My girlfriend is asleep and my senses are sharper than those of the average person, including her. One of the benefits in being paranoid ;-)

Oh, so there is! Okay, good. Now bring it near your cat. (Worry about the cardboard later.)

11:03 PM
I'd let her sniff the finger from up close. No reaction.

...either she's sick, or that rare breed of cat that's catnip-tolerant. Maybe have the vet check tomorrow.

Hmpf.
I crushed slightly more now, and it took a moment but then she licked that area on my palm where the crushed catnip was. I wonder if that's a good sign in the term of the catnip attraction or she was just nice as she proceeded to shower herself.

I guess I spoke too soon. Try a bit more.
(In any event, your cat will know if she's had too much. Cats are smarter than humans in that regard... ;) )

11:23 PM
Okay, are you guys sitting down?
Good.
It seems that I did not prove P=NP after all.
Shocking, isn't it? :-)

Damn you Asaf, I already bought the balloons and cake and everything!

You can give them to me anyway. I don't mind...
I am not a fan of cake, though.

The cake was a lie, anyway.

@anon algebra or group?

@robjohn: what?

11:28 PM
@anon was the cake a lie algebra or a lie group?

oh. I didn't pay attention and just grabbed one.

Isn't a lie algebra a lie group by definition?

@AsafKaragila but one has more frosting

@robjohn Of course, because it is frostbitten.

@Asaf: on a completely different note: That flag weight thing is horrendous. I estimate that you need 500 straight helpful flags to get to 749. I'm currently getting somewhere around .28/flag and I have about 210 helpful flags so at least 200 more flags if it stays that way, and if I understand the description of flag weight in one of those cryptic meta.SO threads correctly you need more than 100 flags to get from 639-640

11:32 PM
:o

@tb Horrible. And to think I am not flagging at the moment anyway.
I am pissed off at them for taking 10 points for every declined flag regardless the user's flagweight. It's like saying "Sure it takes you 15 helpful flags to recover those 10 points, we don't care."

It'll cost me 50 soon... :D

Yeah.
I estimate it's a good year of no declined flags and a lot of flagging to get from where I am not to the Marshall badge.

Create a spambot!

Haha :-)

11:36 PM
I don't do any flagging either.

Talk about a grandiose exaggeration...
@rob: I had the second-highest flag weight... I did a lot of flagging.

I didn't even know it was something you got any points of any kind for until people started mentioning it.

maybe it's just a badge to trick people into flagging ... did you guys ever think of that? :)

There are 75 people on SO with this badge.
I'd think it has more to do than just a trick.

hmm, wow

11:38 PM
There are two questions with one more vote needed for deletion, I already voted on both. Who is gonna do the honor?

@anon: I'm not particularly following my weight (flag-weight, that is), but I wanted to figure out that strange formula that gives me weight to 8 decimals precision...

@Asaf: One down

It's a logarithmic progression I believe.

Yeah, something like that.
@Asaf: I think I can't help here (deletion)...

Why not?

11:41 PM
And that's the rub.

Hah!
We're such a Deletion team.
Let's try and waste all the deletion flags of a given day?

Figured out why, by now?

Yeah :P

The "executioner" role is oddly satisfying, sometimes...
4

Sometimes? It's fun.
There are plenty of negative votes without good answers.
We can sit through them in one day of slight boredom and clear out all the 20+ deletion flags :P

11:46 PM
Well, in a sense we're depriving people the opportunity for a "Reversal"... yeah right. :D

@AsafKaragila which are they?

Nah, unlike t.b. here, you and I can only vote on closed questions.
@robjohn They are now deleted... ask me again when you have reputation 10k and can see them :P

@robjohn: Didier said he's going to implement \mathsf{W}, let's see when that happens :)

One is quite old, the other was the real number/empty set question.
@tb we should probably downvote the question on which the W was posted, the explanation for the vote: "We want to give Didier the Reversal badge as well" :P

@AsafKaragila okay

11:49 PM
Didier is such a good sport. So much for "curmudgeonly old French"... :)

(The above comment was in no way a call to downvote that question!)

@Asaf: what are you talking about?

@JM I had one bad initial experience with him, but after that he has been very nice.

@rob: He's brusque sometimes, but it's Gallic charm, you know? ;)

@tb If 9 people downvote the question on which the "W" was an answer, Didier will have 20+ answer on a -5 question which will give him the elusive Reversal badge. Since his answer was so beneficial already one may consider rounding up some folks and get the needed downvotes. Of course this is all in bad humor.

11:51 PM
@AsafKaragila for what do you need 10K? I can see the votes to delete, but perhaps I am not seeing a list of them.

@robjohn The questions were deleted already.

Ah, so that is what I can't see: deleted answers :-)

Since we're talking about W again: somebody's got no sense of humor...

@robjohn: with 10K you get a whole arsenal of mainly statistical tools to monitor what's going on on the site. Nothing really useful, but sometimes fun to watch... And you can see deleted answers (and questions if you happen to have the links). But most of the deleted stuff is not interesting anyway, except for some harsh exchanges in the comments.

@JM Phira?

11:56 PM
The only two reasons I would love to be a moderator for are to see deleted comments and to know why people are suspended/banned.

@rob: No, the commenter.

@tb Yeah, the moderator toolkit :-)

@JM: I saw that earlier today, well, one person's pleasure is the other's annoyance. The guy who got 17 upvotes (or whatever he has now) wouldn't have gotten them were it not for Didier's answer.

Agreed.

Ah, Graphth. Phira was the next commenter

11:59 PM
@AsafKaragila I have to say, I've the feeling that's not much of a payoff for the potential headaches you'll get... ;)
