It's more dynamic than other roguelikes. There are more active things you can do at any given time. I haven't played Crawl in a while, but I don't think Crawl was quite as unforgiving, enemy-wise, as ToME.

Disengage is an ability certain classes can get.

The Rod of Get-The-Fuck-Out-Of-Here takes 40 turns to kick in.

@badp Yes, I do dislike that enemies can just put random abilities of yours onto cooldown.

If it was grayed out rather than being on cooldown, though, that was likely because you didn't have enough Stamina to use the ability.

I don't like having to juggle four different types of resistances, let alone the uncountable multitude of damage types ToME seems to have

"I can trade mental damage for temporal damage, wait a second I can get time damage? what does that even mean?"

A: How do I turn on workspaces? (Why do I only have one workspace?)

for 13.04 and later.. Workspaces are disabled by default in Ubuntu since 13.04. To enable them, open Appearance from the dash: Switch to the behaviour tab and check "Enable Workspaces". If you want to hide the workspace switcher see this question.

How I used to organize this at Google (with 2 monitors) was

- a terminal running byobu on my right monitor (at least one half), pinned to all workspaces

- on one desktop, a browser with email calendar and whatnot on the left monitor

- on another desktop, sublime text

- on a third desktop, chat and whatnot

- on the fourth desktop, other miscellanea

The biggest problem I ran into was that in league of legends, everything in the game scales with resolution except the mouse cursor.

So it's pretty much impossible to see in the heat of action

Ah, that's bad. My nearest is less than 10 minutes by bus. The biggest is around 20 minutes. Doesn't include the amount of time waiting for the buses, of course, which is anywhere between 0 to 12 minutes
