@StrixVaria In cases like this, I don't see why 'there is no canon explanation' is not an acceptable answer. Somebody who knows one way or the other can answer it as such, and other people don't need to guess with their close votes, because they simply don't need to cast any.

@StrixVaria Our policy on lore is incredibly broad. Entire canon means everything. Not just in-game lore, but everything in the universe. Books, movies, you name it. If it's part of the universe, we apparently accept it.

Here's another problem then, assuming all 5 people had your knowledge. Someone asks. We answer by closing, because the answer is "No, it's not addressed". If it had been addressed, the question stays open. The question is closed. The question is deleted. Someone else comes by wondering the same thing. There is now no record of "No, that's not addressed".

One of many reasons I think answerability is a terrible measure of a question's right to remain on the site.

On the slip side, there are probably 4 people in the world bored enough to Google that stupid question, and we probably got the only one who will go that extra step and actually ask it.

@MadScientist my old Radeon HD3850 most likely had wrong thermal sensors, because it also ran at 100+ degrees, which no gpu should be doing

I think it would peak at around 125C, which should literally melt the crap out of it

@Chippies Those old GPUs were really that hot, my 8800GT idled at something like 80°C

@MadScientist It's only a few months ago; I doubt that. It's just that usually it runs much quieter

I tried to measure it and it did like 43 dB on the case according to one Android app

40% fan speed also looks reasonable, so I don't think it is a case where it just runs faster than needed

Acer got on my shitlist with my previous desktop, wherein the power unit slowly and painfully died over the course of multiple months

I had an acer laptop that didn't have heat vent holes drilled on the bottom

which I suppose is a preferable outcome to exploding in caustic gases

@Chippies oh this one had vents all over the place in a desperate attempt to compensate for the terribad GPU

the 9200M ran slow and hot

mine would turn off in the summer with a laptop cooler under it if I opened any programs

I ended up drilling holes myself

@Chippies Mine turns off whenever it likes

after I drilled the holes, it ran like when I just bought it (for a while)

cleaning the dust from it was a huge pain as well, because it took an hour to open it all up

I'm a bit disappointed at the Humble ebook bundles. Two of the books were okay, but in the end somewhat disappointing, but the third one now (Wingman) is the worst book I've ever read (worse than Chrichton's Timeline, which was my previous worst book). It's so terrible that I'm tempted to read further to see if it can get even more stupid.

Hmm, I have that one too. The only book I have any familiarity with is The Forge of God, which I had read through a few chapters of a physical copy I borrowed from the library but stopped because I was too busy

After looking at the list of books in the bundle again, I've read one more that I forgot, but that wasn't all that great either.

But Wingman is truly terrible, and I've no idea why there are 15 sequels for that book and why it still has 3.5 stars on Amazon
