I am thinking of buying a car ... in fact I definitely need a car. But it is such a crazy world out there when it comes to cars :(

I'd greatly appreciate any help and advice.

I want a car that is very economical to run, cheap to fix, low insurance and road tax.

I'd like it to be reliable as I'll be taking holidays with it in Mainland Europe ... etc.

Any recommendations? :( I know this sort of question is very open ended, but surely that are good options, and really bad ones?
