@LordStryker I am sure I can find some more downvotes I can spare for you, too. LOL ;)

@Martin dude! hit me up!
i need some more downvotage
i'm desparate for the attention man

@LordStryker All that quantum chemistry nonsense... proof it dude, PROOF IT!!!

ITS ALL IN THE NUMBERS MAN!
lol

The reputation man, mind the reputation...
But to be perfectly honest, sometimes I wished there was something like the reputation system for peer reviewed journals... O.o

eh, i dont worry too much about the rep

1:31 AM
@LordStryker Why should you?! I don't give much about it either, my value can't be expressed by a number...

@Martin doing anything fun for Halloween?

@LordStryker Not really... My mom came all the way over to Mito and we'll spend the day with some sightseeing and a nice dinner at an Izakaya and then we will get energy for some more sightseeing on saturday... But maybe my friends at the dormitory will have some fun tonight and I'll join for a hop-tea :P

dude! i think you got the better end of that deal
i hope you have a phenominal time with your mother! :)

@LordStryker Japan is already going crazy for Halloween the last week, there have been numerous costume parties, so crazy!
@LordStryker Thanks. It's been fun so far. Soon we'll travel to Tokyo - that'll be awesome, too.

man i'd love to visit japan. i wish i had the $$

1:39 AM
@LordStryker What are you planning? Going nuts, dressing up, having way too much booze?

my g/f broke up with me today. so i'll probably just be doing nothing at my house.

@LordStryker Do an exchange! I am sure you can find a cooperation.

If i can get enough money, i just might.
i'm playing 'catch up' right now with my new-found job and paycheck

@LordStryker That socks! I am sorry to hear that. But maybe you should go out and get wasted. I guess that would help me.

i'm wasted already lol

1:42 AM
Well, congratulations then ;) If you see our god, the invisible pink unicorn, please tell it I say hi and can't wait to see it again...

HA
@Martin Hey what are your plans after your international post-doc?
I'm just curious. I'm trying to figure out what i want to do.
I think i want to stay in academia. but man there is a lot of administrative politics that gets in the way of research

@LordStryker Second that! I guess I would like do a somewhat less international post-doc, read: go back to europe.

so a second post-doc position?
or are you going to try and snag a tenure track?

I'd love to stay in academia, but there are some responsibilities I am just not ready to deal with...

What responsibilities?

1:53 AM
Second post-doc would be fine, or something in an independent research lab would be awesome.
@LordStryker like administrative duties.

i feel you. its a real downer coming out of grad school.

My former advisor and my current advisor are going on meetings all the time, staff meetings and teaching classes and exams and stuf...

^THIS

I just do not want to end up spending most of my time in bureauCRAZY and not doing research... that's exactly the opposite I want...

@Martin Do you enjoy teaching at all?

2:02 AM
I do enjoy teaching. I kind of miss it a little. But it is usually stressful and takes up a lot of time.
If it is not too much I love it. If you are sitting in front of a thousand papers to grade. Not so much ;)

2:28 AM
True. that would be too much.
@Martin Thanks for the input. I welcome the opinions.

I greet you kindly
The time for answers has come
Let the fun begin!
Actually, upon reading up here... I'm sorry for you, @LordStryker .
When I'm done with my studies (and right now I'm not planning much farther than the MSc) I'm not yet resolved whether to stay in academia some more, pursue a PhD and do some research of my own, or to go work in the industry (preferably something mixing science and IT), or to study for a year and become a high school teacher.
Although I'd like to keep the teacher plan as an exit strategy when I'm ready to have kids.
