@MattGiltaji This is awesome -- if you haven't you should toss them on the meta post with all the queries!
@Bmo At the bottom of each page it says when it's updated, I think it's 3am every Monday (once/week).
@enderland data.se works the same for me as for you. But I have access to other data which is a bunch more comprehensive. You can also get the close reason (so long as they aren't off-topic close reasons) through data.se though.
@MattGiltaji FYI, you can idiot-check things like that using advanced search: 4,549 questions. 1,386 closed. So 30% seems to be about right.

@MattGiltaji Asker didn't read the FAQ, but being nicer is still good just to give folks the benefit of the doubt. I have a formula for writing comments:
1. Say anything nice or positive. Doesn't matter what, just say it.
2. Explain the issue with the post and cite official help center or meta.
3. Explain how to fix the problem.
Then glue it all together.
(1) Hello and welcome to our site! (2) Your post doesn't quite make it clear what your question is, and speculation doesn't really fit our Q&A format very well. (3) Can you tell us, in an [edit], a little more about your situation and career goals and close with a specific question you have? This will help get you better answers. Thank you and welcome!

@jmac for this query mentioned at meta.workplace.stackexchange.com/a/2422/18336 I think this is filtering off closed questions. data.stackexchange.com/workplace/query/212660/…
I had an extra boring conference call today.

@Bmo As opposed to the engaging, exciting ones?
@jmort253 You are way more awesome and patient than me... :)

Bmo
@enderland Good point. I should say it was one of those "Listen to us talk" ones and not one of the ones I had to actively participate in.

^^^^ live action conference call

Bmo
Amazing.
The only thing missing is someone on the call putting themselves on hold so the music overrides the conversation.

@Bmo so true
then everyone starts yelling "who put the bridge on hold!"

Q: Senior Colleague bad mouthing about project manager

bugfixerI work in a small team of 5 members where all the other members except me are with the company since the very beginning (around 20 years). I have been here for last 2 years. Now every once in a while, one senior developer will come to my desk and start bad-mouthing about the manager. He does it w...

this seems like it would be common enough to have a dupe
but I can't find it

Bmo
I noticed the post was from January, maybe it was fixed already. Your post said you couldn't get it to query open questions only and my link filtered closed questions out.

@Bmo nice work!
maybe @jmac can make the answer a CW so you can update the link

Bmo
@MattGiltaji is there something special I need to do to get my username on data.se?

@Bmo just edit the profile
it did some john.doe thing for me too, so I edited the username

Bmo
4:16 PM
That all? Yeesh.

@Bmo yeah I figured it would link to the SE account, but no such luck
unless I am doing something wrong

@MattGiltaji Make what CW now?

Bmo
No that works.

@MattGiltaji The thing about queries is that it's far better if you explore yourself. I can ask you to make queries only because I've danced around the data and can think of things I'm curious in. The best thing to do is to ask yourself, "Why is...?" and write a query to answer it.
So, for instance, "Why are so many posts closed?" is a great incentive to make sure that there really are that many posts closed. Once you find that out, asking, "How many answers has that made obsolete?" seems like a natural step

jmacAnswers with Under 50 Words This would really ideally filter out answers to already-closed questions, but I can't figure out how to do that. Most of these should be flagged and/or deleted depending on score and content, based on the discussion here.

BMO added the filter you suggested but couldn't figure out

Okay @BMO, made community wiki -- edit away! Just toss that in there, yours is way better. Kudos for that! Thanks!

Q: Workplace gossip makes me uncomfortable - how do I deal with it?

Lucas KauffmanAt some of my jobs people love to gossip about each other. I don't like to participate in gossip. I've found that if I speak up to tell these people that I believe gossipping is bad, I become a bigger target for the gossip itself. Am I right to try to stop gossip from occurring? If so, how can...

@gnat I thought of that one, but I didn't read it as gossip, more like angry ranting

but all the answers seemed to jump to gossip too

A: RegEx match open tags except XHTML self-contained tags

bobinceYou can't parse [X]HTML with regex. Because HTML can't be parsed by regex. Regex is not a tool that can be used to correctly parse HTML. As I have answered in HTML-and-regex questions here so many times before, the use of regex will not allow you to consume HTML. Regular expressions are a tool th...
