@MonicaCellio Was that a HNQ?

@AaronHall I don't know if historical HNQ data is kept at all, but it's definitely not available to moderators. From the views, votes, and speed with which they arrived, I suspect so.

I'm in the middle of writing up a Meta SE question about these kinds of questions, which seem to be part of a formulaic trolling of SE sites. Maybe I'm just starting to see patterns that the old pros already see and take for granted.

Go for it. Particularly if you can suggest any actions you'd like to see the community take, it'd be good to get them out there for voting.

@AaronHall Yes, it did show up on HNQ.

Hello folks
Wanted to test the waters with a question I had
I'm updating my resume and wanted to highlight the versatility demanded by my work. In an informal setting, I'd joke about it and say "I'm a ninja"
I wanted some advice on how I can bring this skill out to the fore in a resume without making it seem like I'm a jack-of-all-trades, master of none

I think I need to give up my meta question. I didn't record a list of the questions I found to be trolling, and I can't find them again. @MonicaCellio here's my draft as I'm giving up:

12:28 PM
@RichardU I was about to start editing that one haha!

@enderland, what do you think of my gist?

@AaronHall it definitely was on HNQ - that's one reason I closed it as questions like that on HNQ are not very fun
I just closed it (cast the 4th/5th votes). I am not sure what to do with it overall, but I can tell you that leaving it on the Hot Network Questions to accumulate even more flags? Not high on the "ways the question will be good" list. — enderland ♦ 2 days ago
@AaronHall not sure, I've gotta head to work

ok, well if you have time...

@enderland I'm more than just a complainer ;)

1:36 PM
@RichardU I meant the question you edited - I was about 1 sentence in until your edit refreshed :)

@enderland Sorry, I knew what you meant. I was just posting some self-effacing humor, as I know I can have a temper.

Is there anyone who thinks I should spend any more time working on or thinking about that writeup?

7:36 PM
@Zaid Hello Zaid. Whatever you do, drop the word "ninja" (and "rock star") from your vocabulary.
How you word this depends on what exactly you did. I'd suggest something like "developed a working knowledge of many languages in a fragmented software stack".
I can give some more examples but you're best placed to know what it was that you did.
Focus on what the company needed and how you contributed or went above and beyond.
@AaronHall I had a look and while I see what you're getting at, what is it that you'd want to discuss or propose?
@MonicaCellio As Monica said, what action would you like the community to take?

8:28 PM
@Lilienthal I don't know, we seem to be under troll attack, and I'm actually kinda worried my aborted post would create more of it. Or maybe we've always had this problem and I'm just starting to become aware of it.

Trolls can still create good content, don't forget that once someone posts their content is "owned" by SE (in a weird way because it is sorta wikilike)
I was actually going to drop this link in here and ponder how to get it reopened, I think it's pretty close to being on topic as I think I sort of answered the implied question

Q: Is it my duty to seek work to do or should my manager find tasks for me?

lambdapoolI have been working for three months as a programmer for a state bank. At first thought it would be like the other jobs in my field, that there would be a manager or coordinator who would pass on tasks to me, but it was nothing like that. First I was put in a small team to provide maintenance fo...

@AaronHall on that meta post, I think the biggest question I have is whether it's actionable

@AndreiROM @gnat @MonicaCellio I would like to kindly ask you to reconsider your duplicate vote on my question from today. meta.workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/3671/…

Q: Is my question really a duplicate?

LumberjackIs there a process in place to dispute a "duplicate" flag? The accepted answer on the question above indicates that I should take the following steps to appeal a duplicate flag on a question: Edit the question such that it's clearer what you're asking. Be specific. Raise a question here in me...

@enderland I think it's actionable insomuch as it could help us better recognize bad questions when we see them so we can down-vote and avoid getting nerd-sniped. It's also actionable for trolls and creative writing students (am I the only one that thinks people are making some of this up?) - it provides a formula for them to riff on.
