@vzn yes, long term, but no "ashamed" or "hate" part. It is just oversharing such fantasies publicly is, well, how to put it... Not the greatest thing to do on multiple levels. Some day she may read it, and tell you it is nothing, but...

@vzn Mostly an argument against software developers and tech companies. But hey, since no one knows what CS (or science in general, these days) really means, they might as well pick a more provocative title.
I'm not sure if the lack of 'sociologists' bridging the gap between technology and society is urgent. (I do know there's a research group in my university for this) However, there is the risk that all measures taken by companies would be purely symbolic: they hire a 'token' sociologist, whose main purpose is to show their customers that they 'care' about some social issue, while their important decisions are still made by their shareholders, who usually care more about money than these issues.

@Discretelizard it was a provocative article & think it was arguing that CS types be less averse/ narrowminded to learning humanities oriented topics. too much specialization of bkgs (eg hiring a sociologist to make up for any humanities gaps in tech hires) can lead to the same ("impedance") mismatch outlined in the article.
@Evil you mentioned/ inquired of the sig other leading to an escalation... :P
