Hello World!

@Zubair1 Writing your first program?

I have linux/unix question, and would appreciate if some one could help me a little.
I have a server
with 2 cpanel accounts
one is called dealers and the other is crm
I want dealers to access files in crm?
I created a link, and when i use SFTP it works, but with FTP it doesn't work. I get permission error
This is what the FTP program logs:
550 Can't open crm: No such file or directory
Can some one poiint me in the right diection

@Zubair1 Please post a question on the site. That way, others can benefit from the answer you receive. Make sure to tell us what OS you're running, show us this link you are referring to (ls -l /path/to/link), explain how you've set up your FTP and SFTP (ideally, show us the relevant configuration files) and include the logs you show above.

What this channel needs is a short (maybe one char) command that expands to - ask your question on the site.

I just got this notice from my ISP:
> To stop SPAM attacks, MTNL Mumbai will be blocking port 25 for all broadband users.
Apparently they think this is a good idea. I'm not sure why. Now I have to figure out whether it's a problem for me. Sigh.

4:40 PM
@FaheemMitha It's a good idea because people will get their unpatched windows boxes infected and made parts of spamming botnets

@JennyD If you say so. I'm tempted to call my email hosting people and ask them what to do. :-)

@FaheemMitha I'm guessing their response will be "use port 587 instead".
and if it isn't, change provider

@JennyD Heh, probably.
Does Exim default to 25?

Probably; most mailservers do unless instructed otherwise.

@JennyD Right.
So, did you eventually catch up with Supergirl?
It's moving to the CW.

4:44 PM
@FaheemMitha Yes. I liked the final episode; it was good that it didn't just end with her "lost in space"

@JennyD Why would they have ended it with her lost in space?
Plus, Kryptonians don't get lost in space. They're Super.
So, Alan Cox just got awarded an honorary degree by Swansea.

@FaheemMitha some series seem to enjoy cliffhangers in the final ep...

@JennyD They shouldn't. What is they get cancelled?

@FaheemMitha Or there's the other version, where the producers and writers all think the series have been cancelled and they write a very sad ending and when they watch it being broadcast the announcer afterwards says "let's see how they fix that in the next season"...
That happened to the old British grimdark SF series Blake's 7.

5:01 PM
@JennyD Oh. But I imagine that must be much less common than it going the other way.
@JennyD Is grimdark a word?
@JennyD Did you ever watch Smallville?

@FaheemMitha Probably... though nowadays the producers will usually know if the series has been signed off for next season so a surprise cancellation is less likely
and some of them want a cliffhanger to bring people back. I don't like it.
If grimdark isn't a word, it ought to be

@JennyD Agreed. Mostly they seem to know.

I've not watched smallville

@JennyD I don't like cliffhangers either.
@JennyD You haven't missed much. it's kind of crappy. But lots of pretty women. Usual tv stuff, I suppose.
As far as I could tell, Erica Durance actually made a pretty passable Lois Lane. Though I didn't follow the series for most of its run. It ran 10 years. That's an awful long time.

If you haven't watched Blake's 7, you might want to try it. It's a very British take on the StarTrek model - a few people in a space ship travelling around... except very dark.

5:04 PM
@JennyD Not like Red Dwarf then.
I've heard of Blake's 7. But I've not watched it.

I liked it a lot. But it's from the late 1970's, so the special effects are... special. And the episodes drag on a bit compared to modern shows.
Anyhow, I'm off for now. See you!

@JennyD take care.
