That's sad :(

@slm can you verify this? unix.stackexchange.com/q/81645/41104

slm
@Braiam I'm looking now
what am I verifying here?
the 2nd A or the OPs?

shared folders works with the open-vm-tools package?
@slm ^?

1:31 AM
I'm looking

oh, forgot to ping you

slm
I"m watching the chat room
Henry's A is incorrect, IMO. He's talking about mounting the OSX system from Network which is different than what the OP is talking about
to formally test it out I need vmware setup which I've abandon using years ago, I use kvm, virtualbox and docker now
I think the ticket that the OP referenced give his A more weight. I read through it and it makes sense what they're saying.

ok, let me see what I can do... that Q has >1k views, 2 answers and unanswered, so it bothered me

This blurb from VMware describes how the shared folder would present pubs.vmware.com/workstation-10/…
Depending on the Windows operating system version, look for VMware Shared Folders in My Network Places, Network Neighborhood, or Network.
The problem is that my osx system is like a hoe and it shows itself without any effort on all my network neighborhoods with shares
I noticed it today in nautilus from my wifes Ubuntu system when I went under connect to server
it was there sharing crap that I hadn't even told it to

heh
sometimes is inconvenient when things happens so easy

here's the osx box blabbing about itself
give it my creds and oh here's all your disk. This is just dumb to me.
oh but it's so easy to share....pfff

everything becomes difficult when you need it done... like now

yeah don't bother on that Q. It's not worth the time. I remember starting to make use of that open-vm-tools and was quickly dissatisfied w/ it's quality. We were using VMWare early on but KVM and docker are better in the long run on Linux esp.
If you're on OSX you can use VirtualBox which is superior. That whole bunch of tools they give you in there are kinda lousy.

I would delete that question if it's a dead end

Well the link to the ticket is useful

anyone able to take a look at my post here? unix.stackexchange.com/questions/156139/…
I just can't seem to get ipsec working, have been trying for hours.

slm
Isn't this too broad?
@RyanGrant - I looked at it and am at the end of my night. Sorry out of gas.

@slm ok no worries, I am continuing to research for answers as I feel I am very close to getting it working -_- just not sure if its a config issue or a system module dependency type issue

slm
@RyanGrant - you might want to post your error to the security.stackexchange.com. Don't just copy/paste it though or it will get closed as a cross-post. I'd focus on the no public interfaces found over there and see if anyone can help

2:42 AM

@RyanGrant remove that "ubuntu 12.04" of the title
nobody there cares

@braiam i thought it may help them out with that in the title due to it possibly being a ubuntu issue, i will take it out however.

Thanks @terdon for marking my question as a duplicate (honestly). I did search for ls vs dir on the main page, but couldn't find anything. But honestly thanks for showing me that question :)

Q: Clone directory tree structure and copy files found using the "find command"

DannyI have a folder with more than 30 sub directories and I want to get the list of the files which was modified after a specified date(say sep 8 which is the real case) and to be copied with the same tree structure with only the modified files in that folder I have say 30 dir from that I have the ...

Just a quick note, I have to work at the moment so I asked Danny to come in here. I've already answered his question but I seem to have a bug in my script, if someone else can help out, that'd be great.
Have to run.

anyone around?
I have an issue with my ipsec installation. I am trying to get ipsec verify to pass, but one of the very first items on the checklist is "Checking for IPsec support in kernel" and it fails. I was testing on ubuntu 12.04 on my vps provider but then decided to try 14.04 to see if their 14.04 image had ipsec support, it does not. Do I have to ask the provider to enable support or is there a system config I can do to add support into my vps?

@RyanGrant do cat /boot/config-$(uname -r) and look for IPsec
if you don't have, you may have to compile your own kernel

root@shiftmy:/etc/bind# cat /boot/config-$(uname -r)
cat: /boot/config-2.6.32-042stab084.12: No such file or directory

they are using a 2.6 kernel... I doubt you will have luck

do I have to ask them to enable the host machine that's hosting the openvz images
or is this a update I can do myself

you need your own kernel... theirs will probably suck
@RyanGrant here's how to compile it for 2.6 gentoo-wiki.info/HOWTO_IPSEC
or, try to install the ipsec-tools package... but I doubt it will work

11:25 PM
@Braiam Indeed I am, thanks for the heads up.

@brainam thanks I will try that out

@RyanGrant debian wiki might be more useful wiki.debian.org/IPsec

so far im unable to find the source for the kernel
Unable to find a source package for linux-image-2.6.32-042stab084.12
cant seem to find the source.list entry that I would need to find that kernel source on.

@RyanGrant that's their custom kernel, you won't find the source anywhere

can i build a generic one
or would that cause issues

I'm not sure they will allow you to use yours

so i have to ask them to add ipsec support basically right?

11:45 PM
yeah
