Henry's A is incorrect, IMO. He's talking about mounting the OSX system from Network which is different than what the OP is talking about

to formally test it out I need vmware setup which I've abandon using years ago, I use kvm, virtualbox and docker now

I think the ticket that the OP referenced give his A more weight. I read through it and it makes sense what they're saying.

The problem is that my osx system is like a hoe and it shows itself without any effort on all my network neighborhoods with shares

I noticed it today in nautilus from my wifes Ubuntu system when I went under connect to server

it was there sharing crap that I hadn't even told it to

yeah don't bother on that Q. It's not worth the time. I remember starting to make use of that open-vm-tools and was quickly dissatisfied w/ it's quality. We were using VMWare early on but KVM and docker are better in the long run on Linux esp.

If you're on OSX you can use VirtualBox which is superior. That whole bunch of tools they give you in there are kinda lousy.

I have an issue with my ipsec installation. I am trying to get ipsec verify to pass, but one of the very first items on the checklist is "Checking for IPsec support in kernel" and it fails. I was testing on ubuntu 12.04 on my vps provider but then decided to try 14.04 to see if their 14.04 image had ipsec support, it does not. Do I have to ask the provider to enable support or is there a system config I can do to add support into my vps?

@RyanGrant do cat /boot/config-$(uname -r) and look for IPsec

if you don't have, you may have to compile your own kernel

they are using a 2.6 kernel... I doubt you will have luck

do I have to ask them to enable the host machine that's hosting the openvz images

or is this a update I can do myself

you need your own kernel... theirs will probably suck
