@Kusalananda Well, technically with a raspberry pi and a few solid-state relays , bash could brew coffee . . . I actually wanted do that as a project at one point

@Serg It does seem like he was right, I'm afraid.

@Serg Depending on the coffee machines, you might not even need the relays...

@derobert Depending on the coffee machine, of course. If you're building one from scratch - you'd need relays, but if the coffee machine is programmable or is IoT type of thing, maybe you can even ssh into it :3
And a bit of humor on the same note:github.com/NARKOZ/hacker-scripts

@Serg well, even fairly simple coffee pots seem to have a push-button to start. So probably low-voltage, low-current.
But yeah, if you build your own... Though I'd wonder why not just use a normal relay. Not like a coffee pot needs to be silent, the water is going to make much more noise than the relay

@Serg Ha! That's pretty good :)

@terdon LOL
Needs a few more dilutions though, there is detectable money in that water!

Yeah, I like that one :) A friend just sent it to me.

@derobert if it's below or around 5 V, sure - no need for relay.
By the way, ASUS launched its own Raspberry Pi clone, but with better hardware: asus.com/uk/Single-board-Computer/TINKER-BOARD (and video youtube.com/watch?v=CS66_BbalG8)
1 Gigabit ethernet, higher quality audio . 2 GB LPDDR3

@Serg Hmmm... price?

UK prices
not terribly expensive
i couldn't find it on US's amazon, though

Not too bad. Though I'm currently using a Pi for FLAC playback. The Pi is already overpowered for that.

Yeah, Pi has probably the best feature+price combination, although I really wanna try some of the other boards, like odroid and banana-pi
or was it orange-pi ?
One of them has quad core CPU
yup, that was orange-pi
