@StrongBad - This is not a jab. Just curious about the flagging process.
See, on my parent site, what's ''opinion based'' is much more rigorously defined than here on Academia.
here, Q's are softer in nature.
That's why - just wanted to know.
How is this not a possible case of 'flagging for moderator attention, because answers will be primarily opinion based'?
Clearly, universal/absolute answers to this Q aren't possible at all.
Thanks.

@New_new_newbie While I don't want to define softer, questions here are softer
For that particular question I think there are objectively correct answers.
A legal citation demonstrating the laws in a particular country would be a great answer.
A meta analysis of lots of the sexual harassment guidelines across a lot of universities would also be a truly great answer.
A quote from a particular universities sexual harassment guidelines would be a very good answer.
That said, most of our questions are answered based on personal experience. To me relating personal experience is not the same as giving an opinion.
It is a fine line, but we manage to walk it pretty well. It is amazing how many seemingly opinion based questions really only have one or two dominate opinions. The questions that generate multiple opinions are often the most informative and generally are caused by a difference in understanding of the question.

@StrongBad - legal citation? Where does that come from? The only laws in here relate to possible harassment in the face of it. But the body of the Q isn't about harassment. That's largely a matter of personal discourse.

@New_new_newbie Presumable there is a legal precedence that you can be fired for a full on grope
I am not sure if there is a legal precedence for a front hug, or a side hug, or a handshake.

Yes, but groping is going off from the issue of what physical contact is acceptable b/w a student and a supervisor, which is the title of your Q. Everyone will agree that groping is unacceptable, but is that what you intended to ask?

@New_new_newbie I agree that groping is over the line, but I wanted to know where the line was drawn.
