@New_new_newbie I really think that some extra restrict moderation preferences exist here, which put some questions on hold, mark them as off-topic and more upsetting, limits users (specially new users) to participate in the website.

@EnthusiasticStudent: If a question is poorly written or is off-topic, it's going to get placed on hold. Similarly, questions that are duplicates should be closed.

As for the level of traffic, don't you imagine that "Academia" is inherently a much more restrictive topic than many of the other SE sites?
