Should most of the questions tagged be also tagged ? sports.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/nba+-basketball
Of course there are exceptions, like questions which are related to several sports. Example: Has a college team ever played against a professional team? But currently less that 2/3 of questions tagged (nba) are tagged (basketball), which strikes me as a bit low.

@MartinSleziak yeah, but if it's about basketball. we do have some questions that are about how the nba operates...so even though two-thirds are tagged as such, basketball is about the sport and the nba is about how the league operates, so that doesn't strike me as odd.

user46190
@MartinSleziak the two tags do go hand-in-hand, but that doesn't require them to be combo-tagged each time...

@ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ Still, I would say that about one half of the questions that make difference is about basketball.

user46190
@MartinSleziak i never said that it didn't...i only said (as did you) that there are exceptions and listed a common exception.

user46190
@MartinSleziak sure

The situation with ice hockey seems a bit better, but I guess a few questions where tag should be added can be found there, too: sports.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/nhl+-ice-hockey

@MartinSleziak ultimately, go for the edits as they are reasonable to make. there are some questions that are tagged with the league but could be about technique...and could be tagged with the sport and be about the league. an example of a middle ground is trivia questions.

user46190
@MartinSleziak example, i don't see what tagging does here. and tells you everything you need to know about that question.

Well, it's up to sports.SE community to decide, I am an outsider here.
In any case, I will edit occasionally. But I definitely do not want to flood the front page with bumped old question.

user46190
@MartinSleziak are you really? you ask the most questions about the site...although they are informal. that said, i understand not flooding, but if you want it to be up to the community, ask on meta. we all should be editing when necessary anyway.

Personally I would see not problem with tagging the example you linked with (ice-hockey). Do Stanley Cup Champions get a replica of the cup?
Seeing sports as wide umbrella tags and leagues as a smaller subtags seems reasonable to me.
@ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ I do not want to get involved in meta and bureaucracy of this site too much.
And to answer your question: Yes, I am.

user46190
@MartinSleziak no problem, but also no reason. i agree that's reasonable...furthermore, it should be based on what's being asked.

@MartinSleziak fair enough...but there's no doubting you're the de facto "consultant"...which we need for this site, so thanks for that.

In other news:
A drug test taken six months before the first fight found traces of a nandrolone steroid in Fury’s system and the Klitschko camp want the matter cleared up before the the two boxers square off again.

@skillpatrol doping is always going to be a part of sports. what i don't understand is some of the sports in which doping was discovered. knowing some about fencing, I'm surprised there is doping in that sport. there's a few other surprises...curling, table-tennis, sailing...but i guess my understanding of "performance-enhancing" is physical strength, not mental or physical precision.

Good point @ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ even Paralympics is on that graph :-/

Q: What was the motivation behind the removal of wrestling from the Olympics?

posdefI wonder why wrestling was removed from the Olympics without any public discussion. I do not follow wrestling on a regular basis but considering that it has been one of the oldest sports in the world history and a part of the Olympic games since 1904, I was a bit shocked when I heard the news. C...

Thanks @ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀᴍɪɴᴅ_ᴇᴅ

@skillpatrol and golf in the Olympics is turning out to be hot garbage. #amateursonlyplease
