Q: Strikers who can defend as well?

GauravI have read that both Rio Ferdinand and Daniel van Buyten started began their career as strikers(I have even managed to train van Buyten to be a top striker in Football Manager). Their career as striker has been unremarkable though. Is there any player in History to have a fair amount of success ...

@steelerfan they got Andy Dalton. in other words, y'all are fine :P

@steelerfan yes! since 2002...i didn't like how they traded Drew Bledsoe. 10 yr 100 mil contract the year before, gets injured, then Brady takes over. looking back, Brady was cheaper and is a surefire hall of famer, so it worked out. Bledsoe got the axe fast.

@edmastermind29 I felt the exact same way when Bledsoe got axed and Brady got the job. Hopefully the same will happen to Brady with Garoppolo :)

Interesting question we were discussing last night. Which college has the best combo of NFL player, NBA player, and PGA Tour player?
The best we could think of is Texas with Kevin Durant, Jordan Spieth, and Jamaal Charles. Arizona State isn't far behind with James Harden, Phil Mickelson, and Terrell Suggs/Vontaze Burfict.
Arizona has Rob Gronkowski, Jim Furyk, and Andre Iguodala
Georgia has plenty of NFL and PGA players, but their lineup of Matt Stafford/Bubba Watson/Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has one glaring hole
Georgia Tech has Calvin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, and Chris Bosh. That's pretty good too.
Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant/Rickie Fowler/Marcus Smart group looks a lot like Georgia's.
No, wait, Tony Allen is better than Smart. I think that edges them ahead of Georgia.
Oklahoma has Adrian Peterson and Blake Griffin but no golfers to speak of (literally - their only tour player just lost his card)
Texas A&M might be good if I can dig up any golfers
OK - A&M gets Von Miller, DeAndre Jordan, and Ryan Palmer. Pretty solid all around.
My current rankings are:
1. Texas - Spieth/Durant/Charles
2. Arizona - Furyk/Iggy/Gronk
3. GT - Kuchar/Bosh/Calvin
4. Arizona St. - Phil/Harden/Suggs
5. OSU - Rickie/Tony/Dez
6. aTm - Palmer/Jordan/Miller (which sounds much better than it is)

@MichaelMyers Luck, Tiger, Brook Lopez - Stanford

Yes, forgot that one. Superstar NFL, decent NBA and PGA

user46190
@MichaelMyers former PGA Superstar...

@edmastermind29 I'm thinking current level of play - if not, does Ohio State get Jack Nicklaus?

user46190
@MichaelMyers didn't see that stated anywhere, but i suppose the implication is there. why not? a historical list would be pretty cool.

And really hard to research

@MichaelMyers randall cobb, jb holmes, anthony davis - kentucky

@edmastermind29 Ooh, that's right up there

user46190
@MichaelMyers not really...unless you want to keep players within the same eras. eg, take a set of golfers by wins (or another signficant stat) and college, then cross reference (nba by points and nfl by career value). that's just how i would do it to get a top player in each league by college.

@MichaelMyers billy horschel, joakim noah (there's others..corey brewer, al horford, david lee), and joe haden (there's others...maurkice pouncey, percy harvin) - florida

@MichaelMyers bill haas, tim duncan, calvin pace - wake forest

6:15 PM
@edmastermind29 I'd probably go with Chris Paul, but either way works
