Did anyone else get a message saying this site was unavailable (on maintenance)? I just got it.

I got one reading about Enoch on hermeneutics.

@Quincunx I wouldn't be surprised by that in the next couple days, even if other sites are supposedly not to be affected: meta.stackoverflow.com/q/228888/212780

@Doorknob Name a chat room that will murder you for a hint of profanity. I need a breath of fresh air.

@Rusher Heh, can't think of one off the top of my head but I know some exist.

Maybe try some of the religious ones?

(bot is still weirdly borked)
@ChrisJester-Young @dmckee @gnibbler Please remove [featured] from this post; it's been there long enough :P
Btw, anyone else noticed that Chris has been decidedly less active (in chat) recently? :(

1:19 PM
@Doorknob I said something to the effect of "I miss Chris" like 2-3 days ago

1:31 PM
You can always tell when this chatroom was linked to by something popular.
New faces start popping up in groups lol

Ssshhhh, we are spies.

Is there anything still "unclear" about this? : codegolf.stackexchange.com/q/25885/14215

@Geobits Not anymore. I voted to reopen.

the room has been quiet

Yes. Ever since the the Wolf king-of-the-hill contest. I think most the chat participants are a little burned out.

I don't even know
o_O

(This is awkward

4:29 PM
@Rusher What is awkward?

4:53 PM
@ProgramFOX ) Nothing. Just me being silly

@Doorknob seems like a funny way to ask it. If you think it would be good, why aren't you trying to sell the idea to the rest of us? (I'm assuming that it's not just about trying to one-up CR).

@PeterTaylor I'm being somewhat neutral on the topic at this point, since it's only the beginning - the post said "Raise the idea on your meta site." I want to see what the community thinks about this, not just "yeah yeah I agree!"

@Doorknob It's a blog. You write stuff and people either find it incredibly boring or they don't. Your idea is only as good as the person in charge of the blog.

@Rusher Uhh, what? The post was about whether we want a blog or not, not about what we want to put on a blog assuming we will have one.
Also, is incredibly annoyed by misuse of you're :P

@Doorknob I don't know what your talking about...

Heh

8:58 PM
@Doorknob So you are asking if I want to have a book, but not necessarily whether I care about the content of said book?
Like I'll feel more comfortable simply because it exists?

@Rusher I guess you could put it that way, but more specifically. I'm saying "Do you want to have a book about code golf made by the community, regardless of the content?" Narrowing down the scope comes later.

Well, in that case I have to give an if else response. If the blog contains good content, I want a blog, else I don't want a blog.

@Rusher Therefore the answer would be yes, since you can decide what content goes on it once we're sure we want one at all.
Also, define "good."

@Doorknob of a favorable character or tendency

Lol, thanks for being so specific :P

9:06 PM
The first three of the four bulleted points are interdependent. Is having a blog going to be good for the site? Depends on what it's about. What kind of stuff is it going to contain? Depends on who wants to write for it.
I don't see any indication that the points are meant to be discussed separately in that order.

I'll throw this out there - having a blog probably isn't bad for the site.
I think a Minecraft Server would be a better use of resources, though. Did I mention that I'm a little biased since I am a block of dirt?

They're both things which would draw people's effort away from the site itself. The difference is probably that people will lose interest in writing for a blog quicker than they'll go cold turkey on Minecraft ;)

9:23 PM
!!!

What is MSO and MSE?
Nevermind
Interesting. I don't know that I ever realized that Stack Exchange was not Stack Overflow until now.
