@Quincunx I wouldn't be surprised by that in the next couple days, even if other sites are supposedly not to be affected: meta.stackoverflow.com/q/228888/212780
@Doorknob seems like a funny way to ask it. If you think it would be good, why aren't you trying to sell the idea to the rest of us? (I'm assuming that it's not just about trying to one-up CR).
@PeterTaylor I'm being somewhat neutral on the topic at this point, since it's only the beginning - the post said "Raise the idea on your meta site." I want to see what the community thinks about this, not just "yeah yeah I agree!"
@Doorknob It's a blog. You write stuff and people either find it incredibly boring or they don't. Your idea is only as good as the person in charge of the blog.
@Rusher I guess you could put it that way, but more specifically. I'm saying "Do you want to have a book about code golf made by the community, regardless of the content?" Narrowing down the scope comes later.
The first three of the four bulleted points are interdependent. Is having a blog going to be good for the site? Depends on what it's about. What kind of stuff is it going to contain? Depends on who wants to write for it.
I don't see any indication that the points are meant to be discussed separately in that order.
They're both things which would draw people's effort away from the site itself. The difference is probably that people will lose interest in writing for a blog quicker than they'll go cold turkey on Minecraft ;)
