It is broad indeed and there is a close call, but I voted to let it open. I think there are a lot people in the same situation.

Answers give a good overview what to look for...

@Wills a lot of outdoors activities can have broad answers so agreed :)

@Aravona Yes indeed and I am not strictly to the rules of SE sometimes. If the topic is of value for example. Only if there are too many answers with discussion-like style we should close it I think.

@Wills yeah I think that's the right way to look at it... If it's getting too chatty.

And remember SE rules are interpreted slightly differently on each site, eg Skeptics is very strict, but Parenting not so much. We get to steer that as we grow

@RoryAlsop well the thing here I think probably the same with parenting is actually opinion based Q&A won't always be closed...

Yeah if it's too heavily opinion based I get it will, but a lot of the fun of the outdoors involves risk taking based on your opinion of things, so you get a lot of 'I personally wouldn't do this but you'd go about it by....' answers :)

Lots of deadly accidents this summer in the Alps... :(

@Wills yeah, everyone knows it isn't new, he's just applied the formula to the game, which is a new use of it.

I've seen people do this when I worked for Liverpool John Moores University

They use it as marketing strategies
