I just spent two hours coding in the cloud IDE, deployed something and my boss liked it. Pretty wild feeling to get paid for coding Wolfram in the browser, and then other people running your code in their browser immediately and seamlessly. I hope they keep improving the cloud features.

I couldn't quite figure out how definitions were transferred from desktop during cloud deployment, so I just ran the code through the cloud IDE and deployed from there.

@MichaelHale that is good news about the cloud. Hope it gets better because now I started using animated gif files, since these run in browser with no problem. Ofcourse I loose all the feature of having sliders, buttons, etc... Can you say more about putting Manipulate in the cloud IDE thing? Does it still work on tokens and credit? Does Manipulate on the cloud support all the dynamics as on the desktop?
As long as these work on credit/tokens, it will not really be practical to use for general public. animated gifs are free :). I think WRI should change this policy and make a completely "free" version, and a pro version which can have extra features and add charge for the pro.

@Nasser I would actually feel less apprehensive if the functionality they requested fit easily inside a standard Manipulate. It's all custom Dynamics in a DynamicModule with a CloudExpression for storage. It's an interface for previewing some UI generated from an XML file they choose. I'll work on the editing functionality this coming week. They're very pleased with my development speed on it.
They're funding my credits and I can continue with the experiment as long as we don't hit any big walls.

@MichaelHale ok, thanks. I know very little about all these WRI cloud things. I first tried it in Manipulate when it came out 2 years ago and found it did not really work, and the credit/token thing will not work for general purpose use really. So never tried it again. And given that CDF's do not run in Browser any more, I now started animated gifs. I make the animation in Mathematica, and export few animated gifs to show some important things.

@Nasser The deployment process I have now is create DynamicModule, set style ShowStringCharacters->False, Deploy, set cell option ShowCellBracket->False, then CloudDeploy with Permissions->"Public" and SourceLink->None. Now I'm pretty happy with the presentation. Obviously I can't get rid of the powered by Wolfram Cloud at the bottom, but that's fine for internal tools.
Or maybe I can deploy just a blank HTML page that embeds the HTMLCloudCDF.

Nevermind. Even with the embed code setup the iframe it generates still shows the Wolfram banner at the bottom.
