@SquareOne I think that situation has been rather obvious already for several years...

I have mixed feelings whenever I see papers or graduate-level theses about stuff I did in my spare time over a few weekends…

6:32 AM
@Guesswhoitis. Sometimes I feel that too... but I suppose the point is to prove that you understand the (sub)field, not much more.

...anybody here ;-) ?

Sorry g2g

Good, maybe somebody knows if/how it's possible to Import data from several different areas and sheets of an excel file at once (using only one the "Import" and "Data")?

@kirma Is there a way to make this code run faster : mathematica.stackexchange.com/questions/9004/… the 'ParallelTable` section takes a long time, when I have more than on polymer... I tired Table and it gave me result faster than ParallelTable but for more than 4 or 5 chains the code is very slow

Does anyone already have 10.2? The previous rollout was quite gradual, some getting it several days before others.

I still don't quite understand it...
Although I think Home Edition upgrade has been available right away after they have announced a new version, at least recently. They just somehow fail to advertise it.

5:46 PM
@psimeson Have you experimented with Method option, or looked at the documentation? Overheads with with small partitions can easily cause huge overheads (which I know by staring too much processor microarchitectures)...

6:00 PM
@kirma I skimmed over the help page of ParallelTable. I will look into method option

Just got an email saying that 10.2 will soon be distributed. No info on the quick revision history page though.

I think I don't understand parallelization. Can I `Parallelize` soemthing like this `tofit = Table[
Table[{x, distance[x, i]}, {x, 0, totallength[[i]], 0.1}], {i, 5}];` ? I tried to do it but it takes more time the just not parallelizing it

Is it known to be a bug that DateRange[{2000, 1, 1}, {2010, 1, 1}, Quantity[0.5, "Year"]] ==
DateRange[{2000, 1, 1}, {2010, 1, 1}, Quantity[1/2, "Year"]] gives False (while, correctly, DateRange[{2000, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0}, {2010, 1, 1}, Quantity[0.5, "Year"]] ==
DateRange[{2000, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0}, {2010, 1, 1}, Quantity[1/2, "Year"]] gives True ) ?

8:53 PM
also got the email just now.

also got the email:
Mathematica 10.2 is scheduled to release soon, and your site will
be one of the first to get this upgrade. You will be notified by
email when the new installers are available for download from the
Wolfram User Portal.

Unequalled core Wolfram Language functionality--enhanced by over
100 new functions--plus increasing cloud operations and
connectivity to external data and services make Mathematica 10.2
a must-have upgrade.
