Ah well just learned at least one thing about chat, that the :#### that appeared in my text box would end up as an @replythingie (thus doubling my @reply in a silly way :D, "al doende leert men")

Fair enough, we'll see what happens if any good answers pop up. If no close-comments are left I may get back on meta to ask for help / explanation.

I do appreciate the effort to keep the site focused and clean of prolonged discussion (which is probably a tough job for mods), though it can be tough to understand in Programmers.SE at times what the standards are.

The [history] tag has been abused in the past to sneak in crap questions, and at some point people just got bored with it (although it has some of our best questions ever). Yours definitely isn't crap, but I'm not so sure it counts as programming history.

The reason I decided for Programmers and not English was because I'd think the origin lies in some (for non-programmers obscure) article, just as the "Mythical Man Month" is a rather specific term.

In any case, let's call it borderline, and lets err in the side of letting it open.

Fair enough, thanks again. We'll see how it works out and if it has to be closed again no hard feelings ;)
