@MichaelT That sounds yummy

user55340
That's why I put it out there.

user55340
There's also Sangria with Lambrusco, and Bob's Peach Rose and a Blood Orange Sangria...

user55340
but those others are a "Boil water and pour over sugar to dissolve, cool, combine in a large pitcher, refrigerate covered. Consume between 2 hours and 2 days.

user55340
See, thats where it gets all complex.

12:52 AM
@MichaelT I rest the 12 first and was thinking "that is a LOT of wine..."

user55340
Looking at where it is... I apparently drove past it on my great unemployed road trip. Just to the east of Grand Junction.

@MichaelT I make a simple dryish sangria I quite like; A simple red table wine, sprite, orange juice, fresh lemon/lime/orange slices. About 3 parts wine to one parts sprite one parts orange juce
rather the ratios a guess, I just pour until the taste is right
it's not super dry depending on the ratio, but it's hardly sweet; just crisp and refreshing.

user15026
@JimmyHoffa That sounds delicious

@AshleyNunn yeah, is real simple too, I usually make a pitcher when we have BBQs or whatever

user55340
Blood Orange Sangria:
2 cups sliced strawberries
2 cups apple juice
2/3 cup Triple Sec
1/2 cup sugar
4 whole cloves
3 seedless blood oranges (each cut to 16 wedges)
2 bottles of fruity red wine
2 cinnamon sticks
1 lemon (cut into 8 wedges)
1 line (cut into 8 wedges)

Combine all in large pitcher stir until sugar dissolves. Cover and chill overnight. Discard cloves and cinnamon sticks.

12:57 AM
great in the summertime
@MichaelT sounds like too much to me flavorwise. I'd probably like this sans cloves/cinnamon and with a table red instead of a fruity one

user55340
@JimmyHoffa It is indeed a complex one.

Limonana (Arabic: ليمون نعناع‎; Hebrew: לימונענע‎) is a type of lemonade made from freshly-squeezed lemon juice and mint leaves that is popular in Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria. == Etymology == Limonana is a portmanteau of the Arabic and Hebrew words limon (Arabic: ليمون‎, Hebrew: לימון‎, meaning lemon) and nana (Arabic: نعناع‎, Hebrew: נענע‎, meaning mint), referring to its two main ingredients, freshly-squeezed lemon juice and mint leaves. == History == Limonana may have originated in Syria or Turkey. In Israel, the name came from an advertising campaign conducted in the...

@MichaelT I saw a recipe for a cucumber lemonade I want to try

user15026
and ooh, with that addition....

user55340

Essentially lemonade, and mint.

@MichaelT don't recall having had a mint lemonade, sounds good. I definitely love lemonade with rose water; goes together very well

user55340
@JimmyHoffa Its really good. The flavors are nicely complimentary.

user55340

heh now I could go for a bottle of that right now...\

angry orchard makes some good apple cider combinations, they do an elderflower apple cider which is great and florally and a ginger one

Possibly aggressive edit to: "What are the advantages of a database+application over Excel?"

@durron597 with fire. A modified version is likely on the WP somewhere; something to the tune of "How do I convince my colleagues of industry preferred better techniques" or some such. Wouldn't work on WP as it is I doubt so.. It's a witch! A witch! Burn it! Burn it!
@durron597 still too open ended and totally changes the spirit of the question

Welcome to Stack Overflow, the question and answer site for professional and enthusiast programmers. Since this question is not about programming, it is off-topic for this site (you might try asking this on Super User or Ask Ubuntu instead). Please take the tour for more information. I just noticed we have a tag with 44 open questions
suggested a tag wiki excerpt to discourage misuse of the tag for asking about off-site education resources
also, is now down to 20 open questions, all of which have at least my CV

Perhaps it's better suited on programmers.stackexchange.com! — someOne 28 secs ago

@someOne Nah, close reasons like "too broad" and "primarily opinion-based" are used on Programmers too. This question wouldn't survive very long on any SE site. — Ixrec 30 secs ago

"Want to make a program" should be a canonical example of a bad question title

3:20 PM
@someOne this question is a poor fit for Programmers - it would be quickly voted down and closed over there, see meta.programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/6483/… Recommended reading: What goes on Programmers.SE? A guide for Stack Overflowgnat 52 secs ago

@gnat I have begun to work on the learning tag — durron597 Apr 20 at 15:22
@durron597 ^^^ I think you did a fantastic job. Totally unbelievable. Thanks a lot

4:44 PM
@gnat Thanks! I couldn't have done it without lots of help from all y'all
@Ixrec Add it to the STCI post

@durron597 I put it as a new answer
didn't quite seem to fit into any of the others

@ThomasOwens are you around?

@durron597 and potentially more complicated to manage if we want to attempt any migration to TWP
do we?

@Ixrec We do not. Old questions aren't migrated, ever.

ah, that's right

@Ixrec do you have any cvs

not today, I spent most of them on the last of the questions

5:48 PM
@durron597 I have close votes.

it's already gone

@durron597 interview is less of a meta tag and as such, harder to handle. Learning was often easy to just tag out, this is unlikely to work with interview

@gnat agreed.

C/C++ folks see OO as a liberation from a world that has nothing resembling first-class functions, while Lisp folks see OO as a prison since it limits their use of functions/objects to [a particular style]. In that case, the only way OO can be defended is in the same manner as any other game or discipline -- by arguing that by giving something up (e.g. the freedom to throw eggs at your neighbor's house) you gain something that you want (assurance that your neighbor won't put you in jail).

This is related to Lisp being oriented to the solitary hacker and discipline-imposing languages being
-- Jonathan Rees, December 2001 -- originally composed as email first to Paul Graham and then to the "lightweight languages" mailing list at MIT.

@ThomasOwens So what's the plan with the closed / locked questions in those tags? the tags won't disappear even though all the questions are closed.
@ThomasOwens I mean, still has almost 600 questions, even though they're all closed or locked

@durron597 my understanding is, if SE team accepts recent blacklist request, tags will stay sort of "frozen". Similar to how it was done to code-golf tag at Stack Overflow
@Ian agree. Career related tags with valuable historical content would better be handled like code-golf tag was handled at Stack Overflowgnat Apr 20 at 8:26

Welcome to the Stack Exchange network. The downvotes are because your question is off-topic for StackOverflow. However your question would be a good one for programmers.stackexchange.com and I'd recommend posting it there and deleting this one. — Anthony Geoghegan 1 min ago

@gnat I was under the impression that 10k+ and moderators were going to go through those with delete hammers
That's why I'm surprised Thomas deleted the answer, though I suppose 10k+ and moderators can still see it.
Anyway, gotta run, take it easy

7:54 PM
@gnat That's my understanding, too. I'll follow-up with SE on Tuesday. It's a long holiday weekend here in the US. Still keep accumulating tags that are ready for blacklisting (either all questions gone or all questions closed) in the one post and I'll see what their approach for handling it is.

@durron597 well I for one am going to continue cleaning it up. Blacklisting only makes it a bit easier, eg one can edit a question to tag it out but there will be no way to tag it back in. And yes, I plan to review it further to look for questions to vote delete, that's for sure
@ThomasOwens I see, that looks like a good plan. Current list will likely be incomplete, but that doesn't worry me. If this round goes smooth, we can run yet another blacklist request in a month or two

8:25 PM
@gnat Yeah. We'll see what they want to do. They may want to wait until we're done, do a quick cleanup of a small number of questions in blacklisted tags, then blacklist.
