@Batman LMAO! That's the opposite of your usual approach to questions :-)
"If it's not about the equipment, then CLOSE it!" :-)
@Criggie He burst out laughing. That's just bad manners!

little 60 kilo bird-man
I should be able to spin up a hill better now
Still being wary of the hip after that ice fall 2 weeks ago
its coming right but don't want a repeat of that.
Only riding on the sunny side of the hills :)

I just replaced my handle bars due to a crack that had developed.

good spotting - not something you want to leave
drops or flat bars? Where was the crack ?

Drops.
The crack was where these bars had been stamped
to accomodate cables under the wraps.

Oh okay so probably a fatigue thing
not crash damage

12:50 AM
Seemed like a nice idea 6ish years ago :-)
Yep fatigue.

Did they come that way or did you do the stamping ?

The other side was looking fatigued when I took them off
Lol.
They came that way :-)

well - time to go shopping!
or dig in the shed for that spare set

I noticed an usual rattle, coming down that same descent we talked about.
Checked the bike ... nothing.
Next ride, up a hill into a headwind,
got down into the drops
the RH side felt soft.
Replaced with a set from my Bro's spares bin.
Of course as soon as I put the nice white bar tape on ...

oily hands ?

12:54 AM
Yup!
Anyhow, the reason I mentiuoned it
was that I got one brake lever slightly misaligned

yeah I had some loverly yellow 80s bar foam tape stuff.... first ride it got oily. So I cleaned it as well as possible and then put industrial gladwrap over the top.
the sort used to cover carpets during building work

a few degrees.
After two rides my elbow was complaining!

Oh enough to hurt but not enough to see.

Yeah. Classic tennis elbow, without the tennis.

Yeah my right ankle is still twinging after yesterday - I rode about 10 km on the folder with a big box strapped to the main beam, on the right side. So the right foot was at the end of the pedal.

12:57 AM
I saw that. I thought 4WDs were for carrying bikes, not the other way

hehehe mine's a bit sick.... needs love and repairs and a lot of money

When I was a kid, the old farmer geezer next to our place told ...
(Imagine high raspy voice)

Tempted to go to Cromwell in Otago to get the bits I want.... but it wouldn't make the trip. And its too far to bike with a 100 KG diff on the bike trailer

"Sonny, a car in any shape or form ...
... is a LIABILITY!"

...is a money pit ?
yeah

1:00 AM
But later I started sailing.
You know what they say about that!

I can guess....

"Tearing up $100 bills and throwing them in the sea"

I remember going skiing as a field trip while at high school. It was really fun, but I realised you can only go down mountains and only in winter. So I bought rollerblades instead, and used them to get to work and uni in my teens. Only 1/3 the speed of riding though.

Ah, you need those long speed skates :-)
Then you can go 1/2 the speed of riding.
Looking back ... yeah 100kg is a bit much.

heh yeah - still I dented a couple of car wings with my knees over time
55 minutes in a plane - thanks Google Maps!

1:05 AM
Google maps is a great service to the modern ...
... consumer.
Anyhow, better get back to doing my tax ...

Google says 422 km each way, with 2400 of climb. Estiamted 24 hours on the bike
Strava says 406 km and 2100 of climb estimating 19 hours at 21 km/h
And the return journey with +100 KG.... ouch.
Lets get a freight quote.

2 hours later…
3:01 AM
We see brakes spelled as breaks so often that I read right past it!
Tax is finished. Time to take the re-adjusted brake levers for a test ride, to see if anything breaks :-)

1 hour later…
4:22 AM
That was weird - I just had a "new users answer" in the review queue, that was posted on Aug 12 at 22:48, so ~11 days ago.
very strange

4:58 AM
@Criggie I don't know what causes that. See it from TTT.
Survived my test ride :-)

the best sort of ride - one without ambulences or blood

Seen enuf of those thanks!
But yes, it was non-destructive testing :-)
I got two KOMs.
Created two new segments. For a few seconds I was KOM in each, until the background Strava processes caught up!

heh
I have a KOM segment where I'm about 600th out of 1000 people
its weird
let me find it

Perhaps you were KOM at some point, soon after it was created. The record of your ride stores the achievements.

no that's the point - I still had the kom a month later
I can't find it, may have got cleaned up

3 hours later…
8:00 AM
WOOT and bugger!
I just bought a diff for my car on trademe
but its in Cromwell :-\ 24 hours bike ride away
more given trailer
and I don't think towing 100 KG diff on a kids trailer rated to 25 KG is a good idea

7 hours later…
3:06 PM
howdy

5 hours later…
7:51 PM
Moinmoin
