@Móż Whats a rohloff worth ?
trademe.co.nz/sports/cycling/parts-components/componentry/… Seems excessive, even though its lightly used.

@Criggie not sure, I don't really watch the price. Couple of grand new, I would not be surprised to see it go for 90% of new second hand
Even the buy it now is a very nice price. If I could even slightly justify it I would grab it, but the girly would beat me.
I paid $AUS1000 each for two bare hubs (no shifter, let alone cogs, disk rotor etc etc)that were new but "flood damaged", which I took to mean the packaging was destroyed. Both have been fine. I suspect Rohloff would fix any problems at a discount, unless the owner is selling because they used third party oil and wrecked it.
Which is unlikely, I would ask questions and see what you get. Like, why only 200km, what wheel has been built into, what bike, sort of thing.
In my case, I'd ring people I know and get them to talk to the owner. At the risk of finding out that sadly they outbid me :)
It does sound rather like some of the questions we see here "I dream of {a bike ride}, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and spent {rather lots of money}"... six months later "my idea sucked" or more usually {...crickets...}
Oh, and if it's that old expect the shifting to be a bit rough. Serial numbers under 10,000 often never lose that roughness (like mine), but the higher the number the easier the hub will shift - girly's one is over 100k IIRC and much quieter as well as easier shifting. Not that it was worth waiting 10 years for them to do that, I would rather have a rough Rohloff than not.

heh okay thanks - its worth 10x what my bike cost so its quite out of my league.
Looks nice though
hey - want some strava porn?
The five times I've done that climb are
1 Sep 6, 2015 23:59 7.3km/h MTB
2 Jul 23, 2016 31:14 5.6km/h Road bike
3 Feb 14, 2016 34:01 5.1km/h Road bike
4 Mar 7, 2015 41:19 4.2km/h First time, MTB
5 Feb 6, 2016 49:14 3.5km/h MTB after massive trip - well bonked
Is my road bike poorly geared for climbing?
Or am I simply weak ?
MTBs would have been 28/36 with 26" wheels, the road bike is 26/24 with 700 wheels, and I feel I need "another" gear at the end.
Time for a bigger large gear on the cassette?

While everyone is speaking about global warming, unusually warm weather and such we are having perhaps the coolest summer I have experienced in Tokyo. Only two or three days the temperature passed 30C, otherwise it is mildly above 25, which is at least 10 degrees below what is it normally.
It is also unusually rainy, so that officially the rainy season is still on and if it lasts like that for one month further it will gradually go into the second rainy season which is in the autumn.

weird eh
we've had snow 300 km to the south, torrential rain and high tides 300 km to the north, snow 100 km west, and a 17 degree day yesterday. Was glorious.
