@Zanna Perhaps we should make our informative Q&A about this c-state bug and then close-dupe any posts we find from the past and in future.

If you think it is a good idea, then sure... I am thinking about how to title so that people find it though.
system freezes totally at random intervals on Intel BayTrail for kernel 4.*

Is there a wiki on this issue or existing answer covering it?

I think my answer here is more or less complete... I cannot find anything better. I got my info about this from the (115 page) thread about my device on Ubuntu Forums (some folks worked hard to solve) scouring the bug report, and searching AU. But I may have missed stuff askubuntu.com/questions/803640/…

That's good. Looks like OP is also not active. We could potentially make it a canonical pointer and prep it for any future posts that are similar.
I mean, we can make it the master for all c-state bugs.

Yeah... I already duped a bunch to that one that have the same processor as mentioned in the Q title
Personally, I think we can safely edit that question to be more generic... reading the bugzilla page, the symptoms are consistent, and though other fixes work for some, there is only one that works consistently

9:59 AM
I approve.

^_^ are you editing it, or shall I?

Go ahead.

10:16 AM
done... but maybe needs improvement
What about the tags? Are we allowed to tag ?

No. Nonono.

hahaha I thought so

Could use Intel tag. Not sure what else can be added.
Maybe chuck a kernel tag too.

good thought
done
with my new tag-only editing wand
it is a kernel bug so should have kernel tag...

Oh yes, that's clever.

10:28 AM
Thanks so much for your help... I will find some more when I can

"Thanks so much for your help."

????????

what requires clarification?

If not interfering is a help, then I will take it.

I couldn't have done anything there without your help, I wouldn't know if what I was doing was correct
You helped a lot, of course! Please tell me what else if anything I should do

I don't think I did anything much at all but if you think so, then I don't mind.
@Zanna There was something I re-discovered that could use some love.
Links of all questions where OP has added an answer.
Some of these posts can be flagged as NAA or upvoted so they can be considered as answered.

10:51 AM
sorry I went to cook... yes I will give that love! I have been digging around among the old unanswered questions - I found some good answers and upvoted them - one even had a "thanks that worked perfectly" comment from OP, and it was a good, comprehensive answer
oh searching for bay trail/baytrail seems to help! I find some unanswered questions that I believe are c-state... maybe a lot

Nice and nice.

11:52 AM
Done with baytrail, couple of dupes and I edited & upvoted a few neglected answers about cstate

1 hour later…
1:08 PM
Hah someone downvoted my c-state answer
and the question, and flagged as dupe
and commented :( and edited their answer :(

@Zanna "someone" lol

hahaha that was my thought process aloud there ^
link dump coming
ok done I think, maybe I missed some, but some already done when I found my CV
Thanks! ^_^
& special thanks for backup <3

1:26 PM
I was gonna post my own comment and yours came in between.

nuke my comment if not helpful

If anyone asks you about it, link them to meta.stackexchange.com/questions/147643/… and if it is not resolved yet, ping moi.

thank you!
sigh really I don't know what to say. we are more than lucky here to have you

1:43 PM
What happened?

@jokerdino I kept going until I used all my votes for the day - out of about 25 I looked at, I upvoted probably 16-8 answers, downvote Q & flag NAA about 4, and leave a few that I couldn't do anything with - so clearly this is a very efficient way to clean up
unfortunately it's currently returning 5022 lines, so it's going to take me a while to make an impact

@Zanna any reason for downvoting questions?

to make them disappear I thought, if they lose their answers

ah yes, yes of course.
You downvoted Qs where you flagged answers as NAA. Makes sense.

phew
yes I only downvoted in that case
mostly I upvoted, some of the answers were good! others I could edit into reasonable shape, others I gave benefit of doubt since worked for OP and not dangerous
that query is a very good tip

1:56 PM
This post has multiple answers from OP - askubuntu.com/questions/290392

It's more of a blog >_<

I am going to put them all into the question. Please fix it after that.
I am out for a bit. If no one beats me to fixing that post, I shall do it on a later time.

fixed I think
praise Vim :)
edited again... seems reasonably coherent now, I'm off too. Frustrating not to have any votes left!

2:18 PM
I have votes. where do I vote? if that helps

2:51 PM
Just generally it's frustrating, I want to vote in many places!
@jokerdino this is c-state as well I have VTC though askubuntu.com/questions/823163/…
@Anwar I used all my votes working on this query data.stackexchange.com/askubuntu/query/59227/…
it finds unanswered questions with zero voted answers from OP - many of the answers can be upvoted so the question is no longer unanswered. If the answer is NAA, and it's the only answer, I flagged the answer so it will get deleted (hopefully) and also downvoted the question, since downvoted questions with no answers that are more than 30(?) days old get automatically deleted

OK. I have some votes. I'll use it.

<3

I'll leave when unsure about answers being answer

actually regarding this post I was too quick maybe, OP asking about 2 devices... I suggested to them to either edit out baytrail part or ask a new question askubuntu.com/questions/823163/constant-lockups
@Anwar yeah for some of them I am just not sure... and sometimes there are answers from others as well, equally not-sure :S but I was able to do something with the majority until I ran out of votes...
@jokerdino belated answer: moderation ;)

can this query be modified so that it will not include the questions already got close votes?
I fear I'm going through same questions you voted to close

3:02 PM
well if you see ones with close votes you can at least also CV (if you agree)

ok. I'll start from the last

I got as far as "Xev not recognising..."
good idea!

last is 2 days ago! need to adjust

my actions have already removed a lot from the query though, only the ones I VTC or did nothing are left, if I upvoted answer (which I did the most) it is already gone I see after refreshing
nope I was wrong, I lied
never mind...

ok.
I'll be back later

3:37 PM
@Zanna very nice edit there. Looks clean now.
@Zanna the query will show updated results after the newer data dump.

@jokerdino I figured that out, I didn't expect it to refresh, but it cleverly refreshed to the point I'd scrolled down to in the list, which deceived me. I know being surprised that SE is really really well written and designed would be extremely foolish (if the opposite were the case, it would be astonishing) but I am still in awe of it :)
@jokerdino <3

4:19 PM
I don't want to vote those answers that says "I rebooted and the problem has gone". instead closing them as reproducible.

yeah I VTC those as no repro
if reboot fixed it I VTC no repro and usually spam the main room with it, if the mood seems right in there @Anwar but that's just me
I'm not gonna upvote "I turned it off and on again and everything was fine" XD

5 votes left today
finished all vtc

5:13 PM
I saw a bunch of the ones you voted on in the queue (I saved 20 for that) and voted on them :) we are doing good
