@DanielFischer Why this is closed as too broad, when very similar questions (with different goals) are not, eg: This ?
One needs such a list when one has to explain to a general public why deep and difficult mathematics has an impact on our everyday life. This question is not so much about puzzles. Why it is put on hold is beyond me. This was an act in Trump style. — Christian Blatter 18 hours ago

I'll add oneboxed version, so that other users can see preview of the question without having to click on your link:

Q: Deep mathematics behind common and curious objects

Alex K ChenThe question of usefulness of mathematics in everyday life is a cliche, and I am not asking that. What are some objects$^*$/algorithms/other curious stuff/tricks, which has surprisingly deep mathematical principle governing them ? ($^* \rightarrow$ objects means concrete touchable stuff th...

Poor Daniel Fischer. This is the second time in the last few days I see question which was put on hold by arjafi. But since Daniel Fischer is the moderator who visits these chat rooms most frequently, he was pinged about it.
@ChristianBlatter If you think it should be reopened, one of possible things to do is is that you could cast a reopen vote. This puts the question into reopen review queue, where other users can vote whether to reopen it or leave it closed. Another alternative is to make a post in reopen request thread - ideally including some arguments why the question should be reopened. Here is related discussion in chat. — Martin Sleziak 1 min ago
I hope my comment does not sound too confrontational - but there was a lot of information (reopen vote and review queue, reopen request thread, link to chat) which I needed to put there within character limit for comment length.
This question is somewhat similar: Interesting “real life” applications of serious theorems. (Although perhaps not exactly the same. I am not sure whether I would vote to close as duplicate of that question.) — Martin Sleziak 11 secs ago
@AlexKChen Did you search a bit to see whether there already are some duplicates of your question or very similar questions?
I do not claim that the question I linked is a duplicate. But the fact that I was able to find this one relatively quickly with minimal effort suggests that it is not entirely improbable that there are other ones which are very similar.

@AlexK: That's a good question, and I think you should ask it on main; I can't find any similar thread after some preliminary searches.

Is this-ish question asked before here: Examples of deep mathematics behind common objects ? Otherwise I'm gonna ask.

So you did not really search but let others to do that for you - it seems from the chat messages you linked...?

No, I searched, and didn't found, so I wanted to verify.

Fair enough.

(Also, analogusly, the question you linked should be closed, isn't it ?)

@AlexKChen Well, some consistency would be nice. If you think your question should not be closed, why do you think that other one should be closed?
Anyway, I posted the stuff I was able to suggest - casting reopen vote or posting in reopen request thread might help to get it reopened.

No, I'm asking for this reasoning: If that question is not closed for reason S, then for analogous reasoning S', mine shouldn't be closed too.

I don't have enough rep to do that.

If you have some idea how to improve your question, you should edit it. This might improve your chances to get your question reopened.
@AlexKChen Ok. I'll probably leave it to others (especially Daniel Fischer, since you pinged him about this). I just wanted to mention constructive suggestion I was able to make.
I probably misunderstood you - I thought that you want to get your question reopened. It seems you were asking about something different.

6:59 AM
@MartinSleziak Yeah I'm asking to get my question reopened, nothing else (besides getting quality answers(.

7:37 AM
@AlexKChen Well, it already is closed as too broad.
Personally I would prefer to see Interesting “real life” applications of serious theorems open, but it certainly is broad. (Maybe the reason for closure is that it would give a bad precedent...?)

@SimplyBeautifulArt I got a ping. What you're testing?

Oh, just seeing if it would ping you ‮ ‮‮‮@MartinSleziak

I'm not sure this is exactly what Mods' Office is supposed to be for.
But you made me curious a bit.
Is it simply reversal of letters?

11:08 PM
@MartinSleziak Yes, that seems to ping folks, as well as the "normal" way.

@MartinSleziak Does not ping me

It should get the normal pop-up of the user: i.stack.imgur.com/SgRFI.png

"This is caused by a Unicode right-to-left override mark."

Yeah, just had to try it out. Funny that it still pings you despite being messed up
Anyways, sorry for taking up your time ‮ ‮‮‮@MartinSleziak
:-)

Can I somehow see from the message source what unicode character has been used?

@MartinSleziak Copy and paste any of the messages I have sent, fully copy/paste, and put it into notepad
then (one backspace if you on a new line) start typing ;)
Or backspace a few times to see the effect.

@SimplyBeautifulArt You don't have to apologize to me. If anybody, to the mods - they started this room as a place to post things which require input from moderators.

@MartinSleziak I'm partly to blame; I seem to corrupt our youth!

11:19 PM
@amWhy Our? O.o?

@SimplyBeautifulArt ;-) KO?

O.O
Oh no x.x
