There's nothing wrong with compiling your own, if you know what you're doing. If its a repo run by the folks who write their software, its still nice to have a repository for updates.

Thanks for the welcome, though. Not that I care for boiling chats. Still it's nice to try this new 'superpower' (just noticed I could chat in SE) while fiddling with an Ubuntu VM to get OTRS in it and track my customers' requests to properly bill them later.

I'd love to leave Microsoft for once, been enslaved by Bill for 35 years since MS-DOS 3.23 on all my desktops. Tried Conectiva Linux back in 1997, Caldera, Red Hat, in 2011 dove into HP-UX (work requirements) and its ubiquitominous ksh, and discovered Ubuntu server right after sticking to Debian for the last 4 years.

Given that as far as I know, modern encryption is hard enough to break as to be considered unbreakable, it just doesn't make any sense at all. I mean, use a good key and it will take longer than the expected lifetime of the universe (ELU) to break. What's the point of adding more? ELU and N*ELU are the same thing as far as anything practical is concerned.

Um . . .probably possible. Depending on the number of their levels ( since that what they want ) in that folder, it might take anywhere from fast to for-fracking-ever

@KeijoDPutt You could script it. But I just asked one of the infosec mods (who is also a world authority on security and encryption) and he said it is absolutely pointless.
