I have a DB-25 connecting (RS-232) smart card reader. I'd like to pull and read the raw data stored on the smart card. Any ideas on how this can be done?
I would like to make this post to specify "proper" methods of bolding/italicizing text in questions and answers to keep the site clean and easy-to-read.
Partially based off of my other question on bolding.
If you have a preferred method of bolding and italicizing text in posts, please add it...
I have an Acer C720 chromebook on which I installed openSUSE (after using Ubuntu on it for 6 months). My problem is that I can't get suspend to work.
On obuntu I used this fix:
Instruction for UBUNTU
create file
/etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/unbind_ehci
with following content http://pas...
I have a large number of images that I copied from a failing external hard drive. All of the images are fine and have no corruption, but oddly a large number of them are now missing extensions. The files are a mix of jpg, png, and gif, and are named in the following structure, all in a single fol...
I have noticed that under Linux, when there is heavy swapping, the mouse cursor freezes, and even CapsLock or ctrl+alt+f1 don't work. The system uses the deadline I/O scheduler but this should not matter at all since mouse and keyboard I/O should not compete with disk I/O. During the swapping the...
I was trying to post something here that had two (nonconsecutive) asterisks in the text. They ended up being replaced by spaces. How can I represent those asterisks?
After I set QjackCtrl and Arour, I can record fine, but XRUN callback skips are annoying.
This is my QjackCtrl configuration:
In logs I see:
18:37:22.041 XRUN callback (97).
18:37:22.793 XRUN callback (42 skipped).
18:37:24.794 XRUN callback (111 skipped).
18:37:26.795 XRUN callback (111...
I've been meaning to post a Q on SU about that. As far as I can tell, that is perfectly safe and a good way to clean your computer as long as your let the thing dry before using. I wonder if there are any reasons why you shouldn't do that.
@jokerdino If the phone is totally off with no power, no damage will be caused. If its on, not adequately protected against water, and gets water in it, things might get shorted and go bye-bye. Smartphones are always on, so...
@IonicăBizău try one setting at a time, but try these, record, see if it helps, and if jack breaks change the value back and reatart the computer: try turning off the realtime check box, try turning up frames/period, turning up port maximum, changing the priority. but test one thing at a time. BTW, do you have a SSD to record to, I got the xruns on the sound computer down low, but figured that it was too much to save fast enough on a regular harddrive.
This is one of the simpler problems to solve. Steps are below:
Locate the Caps Lock key. It is usually on the left side of the keyboard, near the A button.
Press that key until the indicator light on that key turns off.
Enjoy no longer having to shout.
You can also run this command to manuall...
I don't know of any command line tool for that in Ubuntu. (For Num Lock, there is numlockx .) Here's a one-liner that you can copy-paste into a terminal window:
python -c 'from ctypes import *; X11 = cdll.LoadLibrary("libX11.so.6"); display = X11.XOpenDisplay(None); X11.XkbLockModifiers(display,...
what would AU do if i sockpuppeted down one of my own posts?
Try Recuva by Piriform (maker of CCleaner). The tool is free. With v1.51.1063 they added support for ext2 & ext3 file systems.
The tool will scan a disk and attempt to recover individual files that have been deleted from the disk. This tool has saved critical data for a few individuals I know w...
