I wonder if it's because I told it it was a python3 plugin and so it will only pull build-packages from pip?
and no one is responding in IRC either, like usual.. much frustrating this is lol.

Say "Is anyone here?"
someone'll respond sarcastically

I was there, remember? ;)

Looks at this beautiful gradient

well I asked a question.

12:44 AM
At least that will help the next guy with the problem.
@Zacharee1 I think I ordered some of those from unixstickers.com.
I can't remember for sure. I had to change the order at the last minute.

@NathanOsman unfortunately snappy questions tend to language. I've found at least 4 questions in my googling about snap package issues with no answers. And they weren't bad questions either.

user139252
I'm sneezy

I almost misread that as sleazy.

1:09 AM
You would like that, wouldn't you? :P

1:23 AM
um. that got awkward fast
well I got 2 upvotes on my question now so someone is looking at it.

well, one was me and I don't know anything about snaps yet, but I thought it was a good question.

@chaskes ah. well thanks :)
@NathanOsman any output if you start kdenlive from the terminal?

1:41 AM
@Seth nope same I asked yesterday already :p

oh. @Nathan should have put that in the question then :P

@chaskes did you add a comment on the question?

yes, already did

@Seth I tried - nothing.
@chaskes I wasted a bounty on a bug? :(

1:45 AM
If I say there's an open bug for this, do I get the bounty? ;)
well, yes

Hello everyone :D

@NathanOsman seems so

Double :(

I have a really bad and serious problem on my computer. Please please help me..

@SeverusTux whats wrong ?

Q: This C program runs as expected on other computers but behaves strangely on my computer

Severus TuxWell this is really strange! Here is a C program to find the subsets of a given set of integers with a constant sum Here is the program : sum_of_subsets.c I am running Ubuntu-GNOME with gcc (Ubuntu 5.3.1-14ubuntu2) 5.3.1 20160413., When I run this program on my computer, (with exactly same ...

Please see what All I tried.

grr

pip can't install dbus-python because no python headers.. but I have python3-dev installed.

@SeverusTux reading, thinking

1:51 AM
why do all my packaging attempts end in terrible, ungooglable errors -.-

Oh... man... I tried in another Ubuntu, Works like hell

@SeverusTux mhmm seems something on your system is wrong i only get the clean output not the garbage

please dont tell me that. :(

its hard to debug something when you cant reproduce the problem :)

What is wrong with my computer??
Should I consider reinstalling?? (it did not work on LIVE)

1:58 AM
So is the only place it doesn't work Ubuntu Gnome?

I dont have any idea to start with. What can possibly wrong with my system?? some hardware problems affecting only this program?? no way. or can it be?

I'm really baffled (I'm on Unity 16.04 LTS) and the output i get is:

@chaskes I tried it on Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04 on other systems works well. But I use Ubuntu_GNOME with GNOME 3.20.

Strange thing is I booted into LIVE ubuntu (not Gnome) .. I get this stupid outout

michael@NEXUS-ONE:~/downloads$ ./a.out

Enter the number of elements : 5

Enter the elements in ascending order
: 1 2 3 4 5

Enter the sum :10

The solution to the subset problem is :

1,2,3,4,
1,4,5,
2,3,5,

PUH...

2:01 AM
only thing is there is a \n missing at the end so i get my input line within the same line where the last output line is

well, that is super annoying, but...

Ah.. somebody answered it... checking..

Ah UB

whats that??
got it

undefined behavior

2:04 AM
I was going to 99% of time you get strange output it's because of bad memory access, but I was trying to figure it out without just saying UB (which most people use as an excuse for not understanding).
Still not sure why you get it on some of these systems and not others.

yes... If i get similar Garbage out put on some other system, than its UB. but whay only on mine ??

well if he sets x[n], the array to default values as zero it should be stable

trying that..

the problem is sometimes the programm uses empty cells which contain a zero sometimes there is stuff in it

Nope.. tried that.

2:07 AM
same problem aṕplies if you simply malloc and think your memory will be only zero bytes

int s[20]={0},d,sum=0,n,x[20]={0},top=0,i,tot=0;
but still garbage

ok let me check that line in my copy here

@SeverusTux Is it always garbage on your computer with any OS but always good on another computer with any OS?

This program ?? yes
only for this perticular program

Are both computers 64bit?

2:10 AM
No, It gives correct o/p for S={1,2,3,4,5} sum=4
Yes both computers 64bit

which one give correct for sum=4?

yes
severus@Tux:~/Desktop$ ./a.out

Enter the number of elements : 5

Enter the elements in ascending order
: 1 2 3 4 5

Enter the sum :4

The solution to the subset problem is :

1,3,
4,severus@Tux:~/Desktop$

are we mixing qustions? you made it sound like on the computer that didn't work with 5, it worked with 4. Did I misunderstand?

No you are correct.
On my computer, Good output for sum=4, garbage for other
On other computers, Good for all

this is ridiculous. snaps are supposed to be easy :(

2:15 AM
I have exams today.. thanks everyone. I will fix this afterwards . Bye :)
If you get any leads, please ping me

@SeverusTux Ok, here's my final thought: There's UB from a subtle, non-obvious error. (I wonder if the 2 computers have different chips.) The one comment has it right: you need to use standard debugging techniques to look at it run step-by-step to find out what's wrong the the case = 5.

yes. I will do that
But I am very new to that Valgrind ..
I only used gdb , I will try with it

Well, me too. Start with printf statements for all values at each iteration and with gdb too
printf will prob show you the problem fast but it still may take some work to figure out why

yes. I will print X and S after each iteration.. , I hope there is some problem with the code. Because the only other possibility that comes to mind is there is some thing wrong with my system (may be hardware)

also set -Wall and -Werr on command line
the compiler may be telling what's going on if you let it

2:23 AM
gcc -Wpedantic -Wall -Werror test1.c

well I am new to that too.
severus@Tux:~/Desktop$ gcc -Wpedantic -Wall -Werror sos.c
severus@Tux:~/Desktop$

yep i know its not that ovious otheewise i would have said something already

1 hour later…
3:25 AM
K, I'm totally going to take a stab at fixing that bug.
Kdenlive is, after all, a Qt app.

Qool
It's probably something relatively simple

That's what I'm counting on.
I've found the code that creates the menu item.

@NathanOsman Just for kicks, make sure libopencv-videostab2.4v5 is actually installed

user139252
Google finally got off this Tom Waits/Bob Dylan trend for me and started playing Foster the People and The Weeknd.

3:40 AM
@NathanOsman Are you able to answer a quick question about C++ libraries for me?

Just gotta run.
Maybe ask it anyway, and I'll reply later.

Alrighty
@NathanOsman Well, I want to use a library available on GitHub, how would I take that code and use it in mine?
From the examples it looks like I should just download the src/ dir and put that in my source

4:02 AM

@Edity I was asking @NathanOsman a question, that's all :)

@RPiAwesomeness seems like you have no clue about windows. Here let me help you

that was a wiki page...
Microsoft Windows (or simply Windows) is a metafamily of graphical operating systems developed, marketed, and sold by Microsoft. It consists of several families of operating systems, each of which cater to a certain sector of the computing industry. Active Windows families include Windows NT, Windows Embedded and Windows Phone; these may encompass subfamilies, e.g. Windows Embedded Compact (Windows CE) or Windows Server. Defunct Windows families include Windows 9x and Windows Mobile. Microsoft introduced an operating environment named Windows on November 20, 1985, as a graphical operating system...

FrankDoes the Ubuntu Linux 16.04 C language daemon function execute a double fork? If so, why is a double fork necessary?

4:53 AM
@NathanOsman So, you probably know this already, but the stabalizer is built into ffmpeg so libopencv-videostab2 is not needed. (and installing it anyway does not help)

should we axe the viber tag?
@Seth please axe the fitbit tag if you can...

@RPiAwesomeness First check if it is in the Ubuntu archives. That's your best bet. If not, the proper way to use it (if possible) is by building it as a shared library and linking against it. If it uses pgk-config you can use pkg-config to get the necessary compiler and linker flags.
To go into any further detail, I'd need to know which library it was.

No worries.

I played with it a lot but did find anything easy (I thought maybe it was scheduling a job or something w/o an alert, but that wasn't it.
