@biogirl Well, have not made up my mind yet. Considering the subjects, physiology is the most captivating. And I would prefer medicine over surgery as it is a question of fine skill versus intellectual skill, and I prefer the latter. Moreover, neuroscience has till now aroused the maximum interest, pertaining to its specialization under medicine. you?

@Chris Of course, a doctor is trained to treat patients but a person who has studied to become a doctor also has a great knowledge about the human body. Research needs various kinds of people. A doctor has a different knowledge base than a biochemist/geneticist and will see things with a different perspective. So, if a doctor wants to research, I see nothing wrong with it. ( There are so many examples of great doctor-researchers! )
@Chris But what to study ultimately depends on what one's research interest is and how one wishes to approach it. BTW It's great to see you in chat !
@SatwikPasani Since you have mentioned neuroscience I can not resist myself from recommending some books :P - " The man who mistook his wife for a hat" and "Awakenings" by Oliver Sacks. I haven't read awakenings but have heard a lot about it. The first book's great.

@SatwikPasani Even I haven't made up my mind . I love dissections, so I haven't eliminated surgery. I think I will take up something relatively new and something different - like fetology, gut microbiology's clinical application, etc.... But what's best about medicine or biology in general is that everything is so interesting that I know I am going to have fun whatever I choose to do ! (but still it would be nice to have that moment of inspiration when you feel like - this is what I want to do
@SatwikPasani for the rest of my life :)
