@Glen_b that's interesting. I always wondered whether about the composition of CV users who show up regularly. Do you think there are more Europeans or more Americans? I get the impression that people from other places are also present (I see a few Indians every now and then) but that they often don't stay for long.

Yeah, @Silverfish, the wikis are sort of odd ducks. I didn't even know they existed for the longest time. It's unclear how many question askers ever see them or benefit from them. I suspect (perhaps cynically) that the site would do just as well without them. The tag wiki excerpts, OTOH, I think are very important in helping to guide & organize the site.
@gung I can see they are potentially useful - some of the better maintained tag wikis on SO have a list of particularly good (or just frequently asked) questions which is handy. For skew-normal there is the additional problem that definitions vary a lot while Wikipedia has a rather poor entry, so I thought it would be a good idea to link to a few papers
@Silverfish, I have thought about adding a list of frequently asked questions to the wikis. We ultimately should do something about FAQs, but I've never been sure what. Other possibilities are to have a [faq] tag, or to have a CW thread w/ a list of links to FAQs by topic. Adding to the wikis seems less accessible & more cumbersome to me; even people w/ relatively low rep can freely edit CW posts. It might be a good topic to raise on meta.CV.
