Q: Why are blockbusters now only released in 3D for the first week/weekend?

I wish I was IncredibleAll summer I've noticed this new trend of blockbuster movies only being released in 3D for the first week/weekend in theatres - Spider-Man 2, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes...and now Guardians of the Galaxy. I don't want to see movies in 3D so I'm having to wait ...

Q: A movie with loads of love-making scene

The JokerI remember watching a movie where the lead couple are always engaged in heavy love making scenes. From beginning to end--only sex. But I don't remember the actors name or the movie name. Do you know which movie I'm referring to???

There's got to be something to do about all the off-topicing
Like could we request that registering sends you to the on-topic page?
Or whatever it is that unregistered users do instead of register
Though saying that, the page doesn't specifically mention soundtracks and we've had a few of them recently

Q: Which place was Samantha talking about at the end of HER?

AtanuCSESamantha while leaving and saying Goodbye to Theodore, mentioned "It's hard to explain, but if you ever get there, come find me,and nothing will take us apart" It was answer of the question "Where are you going?" by Theodore. Which place was she talking about? Is it the virtual world or j...

@MrLore Well, they can be reasonable, but don't have to, that's the problem.
@iandotkelly Well, a user I had on observation anyway. The strange thing though is, that some very few of his posts actually make sense and aren't completely crazy crap. But if the ratio between rubbish and sense keeps as it is I'll dare to speak out the unspeakable: "I don't want you as a new user here!".

2:05 PM
@Nobby Greetings!

2:43 PM
@ChristianRau - that user has been on here before with meaningless babble questions - la la lalalala etc

3:43 PM
@ChristianRau Per the site's request that we not carry on prolonged discussions in the comments, I agree with you that movies only being in 3D wouldn't stop me personally from seeing them. But then again that's also why I got a job working for a theater, so I don't have to pay to see movies. :P

@MattD Well, your efforts of moving it to chat in all honours, but right now I don't have much that I can add to this (apart from a useless meta reply that is). ;-)

@ChristianRau Eh, it's all good. I didn't have much else to say on it myself, I just wanted to abide by the site's request to carry it to a chat room instead of further comments.

@MattD Yet, now that I have seen more and more movies in 3D I'd long back to the times when they were shown in both versions even more. Back then I'd always watch the 3D version anyway. But now that I'm a wiser man, I don't have the chance for the alternative anymore.

@ChristianRau I don't hate 3D, and with the right movie I feel it's awesome to enjoy (Avatar, Gravity, Hugo), but I absolutely hate that it seems like EVERYTHING has to be done in 3D nowadays.
But yes, I've found myself opting more for 2D showings. Partially because I wear glasses, so wearing another pair of glasses over them can be annoying, though the move to passive lenses helped make it less annoying.
Speaking of 3D movies, a software update for the PlayStation 4 hits today (at least here in the US) that FINALLY enables 3D movies to be played on the system.

@MattD Sure, Avatar was a great experience since, albeit having a virtual reality lab at grasp, it was still a new experience of movie watching. Also stuff like Tron Legacy. But more often than not I just forget it during the whole course of the movie (except when they use some obvious effects), I just seem to be quite insensitive to it.

3:52 PM
@NapoleonWilson except when they use some obvious effects It should be illegal to have that scene where someone throws something at the camera in slow motion

@ChristianRau I still laugh thinking about the time some coworkers and I learned that the polarity on one of our lenses was flipped for a month, but no one noticed because the last 3D movie we screened on it was Clash of the Titans, who's shoddy 3D conversion made the rounds so well that no one noticed it and thought it was just the movie.

@MattD Meh, I'm a PC guy anyway, I don't even have a 3D TV, let alone a BluRay player (oh I now, I live on moon).

@ChristianRau I'm also primarily a PC guy, but I got the PS4 for some of the exclusives, and so I could move my PS3 to the bedroom to have a Blu-ray player in there.

@MrLore That being said, seeing and feeling the ISS ripped apart in Gravity was worth the ticket price alone. That literally made be startle in my seat mutliple times.

Yeah, the unfortunate thing about Gravity, to me, is that it really loses a lot of appeal if you don't see it in 3D.

3:56 PM
@MattD That on the other hand I can't sign. One of the very very few new things I actually bought on DVD, and enjoyed it as much.

@ChristianRau Having seen it in 3D, I can't imagine not seeing it in 3D now. Same thing with Hugo because Scorsese plays with the 3D aspect so well.

Q: Doctor or Mentalist entering Criminal's Mind

MegaMindFew months back, I see a title on IMDB about a film in which a doctor is able to enter into people's mind. FBI request the doctor to enter in a serial killer mind to find the last victim and it endangered doctor's life.

Q: What was the first film adaptation of a comic?

Crow T RobotI've been watching Danger: Diabolik (1968) and when I read the Wikipedia article I realise it's actually an adaptation of a comic book character called Diabolik which made it one of the earliest comic adaptation I had heard of. After more research I found this article which claimed the oldest wa...

DominicMI have this short clip from somewhere and remember wanting to see this film again but that was a long time a go so I don't even remember why or if it was actually good. Can someone recognize the movie from the clip? Here is the clip: http://tinypic.com/r/f27bkp/8 From the accepted answer, the m...

@MrLore - there's no reason to have an answer edited into a question
So yes, I would either roll that back or re-edit to remove the content form the answer

Cool cheers, I can't say as I've ever seen that happen except when someone new works out the answer themselves and edits it in.

8:51 PM
@ChristianRau 'ello guv'nor.

@Nobby seen you after a quite long

I've been away and busy in equal quantities. Figured it was time to pop up and try to hit 20k finally :)

gud luck
I always loved to read your and olivers answer

I'll find some time to trawl through the unanswered questions.

I am waiting for upcoming marvel questions ( can't wait for DC one they are very far for now).

9:00 PM
LOL. I can wait for DC questions... heh.

I will wait.......but i am too much confused after watching leaked trailer of dawn of justice and xena looking wonder woman,
I am a blind DC fan but still there is a limit.

I hear you, and my new year resolution was not to become an online hater (as that is the easy path and will only lead to the darkside), but DC seems so embarrassed to be making superhero movies that they have sucked all the fun and color out of them. That said, their animated stuff is awesome.
It's been a weird movie year - it started well with Lego and Cap Am, but then Godzilla and X-Men left me full of meh. It took Edge of Tomorrow and Dawn/Apes to get me all pumped up again - and now with GotG around the corner, I am a happy kid again.

I like Cap. X-men was like cleaning up mess and creating a bit new but i linke blink and quicksilver. I think sequel can work better now. Missed dawn of apes :(
Transformers sucks as always........cursing the friend who force me to watch it
Now planing for guardian of galaxy
For the DC part....ahhh...they have so much great stories but don't know how to handle it in live action films. And they have made so many version of the same heroes. And now creating more with upcoming movies and Tv series.
Thinking to go for gotham tv series. Looks impressive.

The Flash looks the closest to actually being fun.

Didn't watched the flash. Because of arrow which looked good to me in start but now looks like smallville happening again (one more incomplete justice league).
They will surely not get batman and superman and wonder woman and withot trinity justice league looks incomplete.

9:14 PM
I don't know much about comics but DC seems to care less about recasting their heroes
I bet you can't count all the Batmen on all your fingers and toes

hahahahha
@MrLore because dc have all character access and don't know how to use them and marvel left with less rights to use, so they using it intelligently......hahhahaha....thins coming from a mouth of DC fan.
@ChristianRau scifi also sucks in the tagging of planet of ape film scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/planet-of-the-apes

@Nobby So you want a red/blue Wonder Woman right out of the 50s? Indeed, seems the best way to counter the Dark Knight Trilogy as best as possible. ;-) (but who am I to speak about comics anyway)

@ChristianRau Not at all, Christian - I actually like the design for the new Wonder Woman - just a little less like Xena would have been nice.

@ChristianRau What wrong in being colorful...watch avenger. X-men already killed the fun of colours....no not DC please.

A splash of red and blue wouldn't hurt now ;)

9:19 PM
@MrLore Well, there were 3 Hulks in like 5 years?
@Nobby Wut? Someone didn't like Godzilla? ;-(

^^^ how i forget to add that but now count superman and batman :p

Sorry, buddy. I found it a snooze-fest.

Quite possibly, I've never actually seen a Hulk anything except The Avengers

@AnkitSharma I found the man of steel had just the right mixture of (classic) red/blue and (modern) dark/monochrome.

Work calls. I must run. Debate! Debate like the wind!

9:21 PM
@ChristianRau but batman looks fatty and now wonder woman without colour and lex luthore looks like a kid. Don't give me any more shock please

@MrLore Well, and I'm one of the very few heretics who liked the infamous Ang Lee/Eric Bana movie.

I also like the ang lee hulk....better then incredible hulk but avenger hulk was best...little less done.

@AnkitSharma Well, a single franchose tag isn't too bad either.

Nahhh....singe tag are over generic

@AnkitSharma Indeed, I first thought Hulk would be the palest of all the Avengers. Well, he was (together with that whatshisname arrow guy), but Bruce Banner was amazing.

9:26 PM
@ChristianRau From animated series to earth's mightiest hero after x-men and spider man, hulk is the only one i like in marvel.
I love his storylines.......planet of hulk, world war hulk, other hulks
etc etc

@ChristianRau whatshisname arrow guy I believe it's "Plot contrivance arrow guy"
Seriously, where does he get an automatic computer hacking arrow?

Hawkeye is worsely handled character from all marvel cinematic universe ( don't care about guy with wings...he always sucks)

Guy with wings as in the son from the start of x-men 3?

i mean falcon
xmen is out of marvel cinematic universe
And in x-men 97 % characters are badly handled except wolverine which is over done.

Ahh I see

9:36 PM
Bye.....need a sleep

9:53 PM
I'm not sure this question deserves a miami-vice tag, being just a general first-appearance thing. But I'd love to finally add that tag to the site.

Q: What was the first use of the driving closeup shots known from Miami Vice?
