Schoolboy error, that. I remember (back in the day) a site that stored prices in-page when you went to checkout an order. You could just edit the HTML of the page and submit! Got fixed pretty sharpish

I think there was some bitcoin operator that had a similar issue.
One could double spend his bitcoins

Yeah, read about that on HN a few weeks ago

@ypercubeᵀᴹ That one didn't get eventually consistent

@ypercubeᵀᴹ it's actually mentioned in the article

8:40 AM
@JackDouglas did someone point marc_s to Aaron's meta post you were referring to?

@TomV the bitcoin algorithm was ok. But they had implemented their wallet handling in PHP and Mongo, or something similar.
@dezso ah thnx, I didn't find time to read that one yet.

8:58 AM
@ypercubeᵀᴹ They overdrew the accounts before the balance was updated or something similar

> As a result of this attack, all Bitcoins stored in the Flexcoin exchange were stolen, all users lost their stored Bitcoins, and the exchange was forced to shut down.
@dezso We've asked him to slow down a bit.

@PaulWhite very good, thank you

I commented on the following Question: dba.stackexchange.com/q/167452/15356
Doesn't help much that Brent's Pastetheplan links have an expiration date.

It's a 11 day old question. How many days can a plan be saved?

@McNets I haven't the foggiest. I asked Brent via online form.

11:30 AM
@hot2use The OP replaced the link an hour ago. The old link works for me.
Looks like they just removed a couple of characters from the middle of the ID.

I wish I didn't click that link

For plans like that a ▲ button is not enough, there should be a ◄ one as well.

11:51 AM
@AndriyM Strange. Brent just mailed to let me know that the link is still in the short form in the question.
I went into edit history and the old link works.

@hot2use the link in the question is working now :)

@hot2use It was. I wasn't very clear, sorry. You noticed the issue after the OP changed the link. Their new link didn't work, the old one (which Tom has just restored) did.

@AndriyM thumbs-up

My guess is they deliberately corrupted it, although if they wished to remove it from the question, they could have done just that.

Q: import csv in SAP HANA

KrebtoI am trying to push my crawled data in HANA. So far, when I do the import, I can't find how I can map each value I have with a separate column. What is the proper way to map those records in HANA table? do I have to do a software for the mapping ? -I already created a table in HANA and have name...

It's taken the OP a week to get that far (see previous question)
I'd just give in

12:04 PM
@TomV and of course for redacting the question thumbs-up

@hot2use You'll soon be able to do that yourself

@TomV I know. I'm doing my best to achieve brilliance. (Top 4% this quarter)

@TomV I know what you mean

1:26 PM
I can write up an answer to that question tonight, hopefully

@JoeObbish The HANA one? Maybe you should post a stub and delete it before the question gets closed

@TomV No, the one where the plan expired

Q: Questions posed by brand-new members that are abandoned

WesFirst post on meta so, if i'm "doin' it wrong", I apologize. I wanted to ask about the handling of questions with the following conditions: - Question raised by brand new member ( < 10 reputation? ) - Answers provided that address issue - New member never bothers accepting an answer and closing ...

Q: Closure reason - "RDBMS Not Specified"

PhilᵀᴹDay after day we see many questions that do not have a RDBMS tagged, which got me thinking (a miracle, I know) - Why don't we have a custom closure reason of "RDBMS Not Specified" added?

Is there a special badge for asking meta questions today or something?

Maybe you should ask that of meta and find out

@JackDouglas NICE!

@JackDouglas I've commented it before, nice.

Q: Moving to Unicode - Questions about how it works

yoelbenyossef I've been tasked with getting us ready for to go to Unicode for various character sets including Chinese, Russian, and Korean. One of the things that I'm focusing on is SSIS. I've tested a simple lookup, and it works fine. But now I'm running into questions about these languages. Can you do an ...

Oh happy days of being a dumb merican

@JackDouglas you need to use set statistics xml on; to make it appear?

6:59 PM
@Lamak yes, does that seem strange?
@McNets so you have :)

@JackDouglas nope

good :)

Help will be appreciated. Can't I use MAX / MIN on a CTE results? dbfiddle.uk/…
It's a counting consecutive days solution.
There is a missing ,

^^^ this is comedy gold
@JackDouglas it's fantastic! good job. Line numbering is useful if the error message may report the line causing the error. — McNets Feb 24 at 16:53
you were entirely correct about the line numbering, as it turns out ;)

7:16 PM
@JackDouglas yes, but sometimes I'm not able to see a single ',' ;)

@McNets you could commit heresy and put them at the start: dbfiddle.uk/…

@JackDouglas Paul White being chatty in the comments? Someone should flag those!

Meta is different.

that was quick

@JackDouglas this is what usually do...at work!! But I've adopted the most usual format (IMO) on dba.se

7:20 PM
I lurk

@McNets my opinion of you just changed
;)

Meta is all about discussion.

@Lamak to better I hope...
;)

@JackDouglas Relatively few people will know the command. Almost everyone will be used to using a keyboard shortcut or toolbar icon

@McNets commas at the start of the line?, that's how satan writes his code

7:25 PM
I know. I still think that there is some humor to be had since you crack down on comments pretty hard on the main site

On mobile so I haven't checked it out yet
@JoeObbish Totally fair
😎

@JoeObbish will you provide the query in that question?

@ypercubeᵀᴹ I'm not able to provide the query. Can provide snippets if it would be helpful.
I think that it's not needed but I can see why people would ask. if I was answering someone's question I would probably ask

@PaulWhite honestly, I for one, have never typed in the command. I am aware of it, but hey [CTRL-M].

It's not one I find easy to remember. Too many similar options.

7:36 PM
I click the little button every time

I'm surprised my CTRL and L keys haven't worn out 😀

that's why they give us two CTRL keys

and no ANY key

@Lamak I'm gonna write a SQL formatter that always puts the commas at the beginning of the line. And turns spaces into tabs.

Q: Stop expanding tabs into four spaces

7:54 PM
@PaulWhite now they can click on 'show plan': dbfiddle.uk/…

@JackDouglas it's strange, it's like someone asks for a fix, and pronto, it's fixed. No 6-8 week delay.

but I do break prod fairly regularly

@JackDouglas all the more fun!
By the way, that image above was from my clicking the "show plan" text a bunch of times.

@MaxVernon fixed (ish)
ie at least it inserts the text at the beginning of the field rather than the cursor position

@JackDouglas ahhh I was wondering what you meant by "fixed" ;-)

8:05 PM
@MaxVernon now actually fixed :)

@Lamak I'm so sorry, I will tighten my sackcloth a bit.

@JackDouglas much better.

doesn't really work for Oracle, but it's ok I think

interesting that you only need to have the command in the first text box, but it generates a plan for all text boxes.

yes, it doesn't do anything clever
you need to set statistics xml off; afterwards
it is per-statement rather than per batch too

I've VtC

good evening guys
If any of you can help, it will be great

8:58 PM
@AndyK and why is it at SO and not in our site?

got a top N sort here keeping the -1 top rows
that makes sense

9:39 PM
@JoeObbish Where do you see the N of a Top N Sort?
Oh, I think I found it... "Top Rows" property of the plan operator?
Huh...it looks like I can get Top -1 with a SELECT TOP (4294967295)
...integer math

@Forrest Yep
TOP -1 feels like you'd take the last row
